I think that the DT is just not good enough lawyers to get their witnesses to say what they want and bring out the gut of their testimony. This is just me thinking out loud here but why not just say hey you can not prove that the duct tape has anything to do with this case or if so in what capacity! You can not say that the mandible was only held in place by duct tape and not by plants. No different than you can't say that the body changing position wasn't due to water and wind from Fay. Or that you can't say that the sediment material inside the skull didn't move due to same. Although I would think that the Dr. would know the difference between brain residue and dirt. JMO

Exactly, they just dig themselves into a big hole.

In the trial thread I had asked, but have not noted answer (just yet?)...Does anyone think it is possible that JB's antics of this AM (with the 1st witness and duct tape opinion not in depo) COULD be an extreme attempt at a mistrial? Meaning, forcing the judge to NOT allow the testimony which would result in 1) an incompetent defense, or 2) 'unfair' trial for (edit from ICS to:) ICA ?
TIA

It's hard to say. He's always behaved like this so I don't think it came as a surprise to those who've been watching his antics for past 3 years. Just more of the same, IMO.

My DH has been a "mock" juror through most of this case. Before the trial started, he really didn't follow along, or pay much attention. He always thought there had to have been some type of an "accident". :banghead:

Since the trial has started, he has been "hooked" on it. Follows along as a good "mock juror" should.

His opinion has not only changed, that she is "GUILTY" beyond any reasonable doubt - He thinks she deserves the DP!

He is completely disgusted, as many of us are - At the sheer desperation of the DT, blaming anyone and everyone! He has even gone so far to say that pretty soon they will accuse random people on the street! This desperation says to him that she is so OBVIOUSLY guilty!! It is very disturbing!

BBM

They already did - Vasco Thompson anyone?

For the record, you are replying to my question if JB's antics this AM were an extreme attempt for a mistrial. Thanks for the reply!
I don't understand what you mean by 'Because death is different.
Could you please explain?
TIA

...then I'll do my 'chores'!
xoxo

Because JB has said this many times in order for the court to let him do things that are not allowed. imo

I believe it was.
PS- chloroform would not stay in the system...or at least that's what I remember reading from here.

You are right. It is a volatile drug, it would essentially evaporate. It would never make it to bone marrow. Nursebee, or another medical professional here, may come back with more detail on volatile drugs.

Dr. Spitz says every case is important because there is always someone who cares. Then he pulls someone's skull out of a duffle bag. :waitasec:

Excellent point. :floorlaugh:

Caylee's hair was tested for drugs, and none were found.

And as Dr. G stated on the stand... she wasn't expect to find anything after that long. That she simply tested because she felt she needed to... just in case. Which shows how much care actually went into Caylee's autopsy. Dr. S's opening of Caylee's skull was needless and actually kind of cruel. Hadn't she been through enough?

Does anyone think there is a need to have Dr. G return to the stand in the State's rebuttal to speak about the autopsy, or should the State just let Dr. Spitz's testimony regarding a "failed autopsy" go, not worthy of a rebuttal?

Certainly wouldn't hurt to bring her back and remind the jurors of her findings. She was awesome!

I would have loved to been a fly on the wall when he visited um what was their name, those people, that house oh you mean The Anthony's home. I would have loved to hear CA and the Dr. S conversation.

The thing I am wondering about is something that was brought up by Dr. Drew last night. Why was the hair not tested for drug residue? Or was it and I don't remember?

Yes it was! He kept saying why did they not test it for Xanax! duh, they did, and it was negative but neither of his 'experts' knew that....

Re-watching this beautiful smack-down, I realize that not only did the defense shenanigans open JB to possible contempt & expose him for the <ahem> that he truly is, but they also totally screwed their game plan for the day! IMO they wanted to do half the day on Rodriguez, and then do their direct on Spitz right up to 1 p.m. so the jury would be left with his fabrications in their minds all weekend.

Smells like thwartcake to me! :cupcake:

Jean caesarez (sp?) makes so many mistakes. She said "Dr. John Garavaglia" instead of "dr. Jan., when referring to the autopsy done by the state. When Dr. Spit was on the stand, she once referred to him as a prosecution witness. She also said the jury was looking at a picture of Caylee's brain in the skull, when it really was a picture of the black sediment, or whatever Dr. Spitz called it, on the inside of the skull cavity. The brain was totally decomposed and the skull was empty when found, and taken into evidence by LE.
There were several other mistakes made, but I cannot recall all of them to write here. The members of Websleuths know th accurate info, but someone not so well acquainted with the case could get a whole different mental picture from the verbal mistakes she makes. Anyone else notice this?

Hopefully, no juror will get so disgusted at the DT that they give her a harsher result than they would have otherwise. :seeya:

Having to bottle feed one of the kittens, so couldn't get in here right after trial.

Whacha'll talkin' bout in here? The good Dr. Spitz? ;)

He kept mixing the names up. He was calling Caylee Casey and calling Casey Caylee. JA had to correct him several times.

I liked the part where he started out talking about Casey's(meaning Caylee's) brain, I sure wanted to hear what he thought of Casey's brain!!

I noticed all of these things as well and it drives me crazy. She is so far from accurate that it's not even funny. I just have to mute her.

What do ya expect? Her and NG are good friends. And you know how her info/facts can be. :floorlaugh:

Caylee's hair was tested for drugs, and none were found.

I thought it was more complicated than that. Haven't experts said something about the difference in long-term use and occasional use in whether or not the hair tests positive for drugs? Seems like every time I've heard experts talk about drugs not being found in hair, I am left with the feeling that maybe drugs WERE used, just not long term. JMO

Burns me up that they are getting salaries to do this and they can't even know what is going on. :banghead:
