I don't want to think that Caylee was deprived either. BUT, where are the other mothers that have witnessed their kids playing with Caylee, be it at J Blanchard Park, McDonalds, etc... Everyone in Orlando knows about this crime, everyone has seen the pictures of Caylee and Casey, if there were children that played with Caylee, wouldn't one of their parents have come forward ? We don't know that Caylee was deprived of playmates, but it does look that way to me. Caylee was afforded things, like the playhouse, by her Grandparents and that fact makes me happy.

Since I was an only child like Caylee I really hope she had plenty of toys to keep her entertained. Unless you are an only child you really can't understand how lonely it gets with no one to play with. The toys that she did have are because of her grandparents and not Casey since she didn't think she needed to have a "REAL JOB".....I know Caylee has tons of friends to play with in heaven. Bless her little heart.

Maybe they didn't and don't come forward because they didn't and don't want to become involved unless there's a specific need.

This has always bothered me. Thanks for mentioning it.

I love Kathi Belich in hot pursuit in the background :floorlaugh:

sunny hostens...i know shes paid to give the defense pov, however

she also represents herself as a expert who helps the viewer understand whats happening.

she gets an F on this interpretation:

as to dr <modsnip> outrage that the skull wasn't opened. she said the defense may have scored because the jurors will want to know why it was not and thats good for the dt.

OR

since Dr G. did not open it, the jurors may discount Dr G's testimony, since dr. s. criticized it.

and thats a win for the DT

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

and thats it. those are the only two alternatives she offers to help the viewer understand the issue.

I think it is good to hear both sides. You never know how each individual juror will interpret the testimony and evidence. That is the whole point of a trial, to hear both sides. In this case, it is very likely that the defendant is guilty, but there have been cases of innocent people sent to prison and even executed. This is after their "fair trial". I am sure the prosecution presented evidence in those trials also, but the jury got it wrong, or maybe assumed they were guilty and did not weigh the evidence. I would like to say have come a long way since the Salem Witch trials but I am starting to believe not much progress has been made. Even Casey has the right to her day in court and an impartial jury. No one knows what really happened, we can all speculate, even the prosecution is speculating. No, I am not pro-Casey but I think we have to give the defense their chance and not bash every single move they make. As we can see, the jury does not hear both sides of the story, only what each side wants them to hear. It is actually a staged production. Just like JP says every evening "this concludes our presentation for today"..sounds more like entertainment than a serious trial.

I just watched a video on this site:

http://www.jeffersonbass.com/video_body_farm_and_beyond.html

It shows that the body farm started as a concrete slab in a chain link fence with a shed - perhaps this is what started in 1971 and then the big outddor complex was built in 1981? Would make sense.

I'm wrong - on Dr. bass book site says he and his research students started the research on the small pad site in 198l:

http://www.jeffersonbass.com/photos_da.php?id=4

perhaps this is why Dr. BR said he was a cofounder.

I'm not sure Ashton WANTED to respond. Ashton may be passionate, but unline Baez, he knows when it is time to STHU.

Ashton gave Baez enough rope to hang himself and a mighty fine job he did of it.

I posted as much during Baez's monologue. Also, HHJP didn't interrupt him one time...he just let JB drone on and on and on and on and on and on. There was a reason for that.

Sorry if this has been asked and answered.....

Who is the good looking young man w/ glasses and dark blonde hair who sits behind the podium, in front of the spectators? He's been there every day. Thanks.

I just can't fathom that the State allowed that stipulation to end early go through. They got the Court's permission to delay the first 2 witnesses, and had the DT on the run, scrambling to get their next witness on the stand before HHJP got even angrier. Why, all of the sudden, did they let the DT off the hook? The judge clearly stated that both sides agreed to end early. I just don't get it.

What other choices would they have had?

Would still like to see JB's "presentation". Seems like he's doing everything he can to prevent that.

Whomever the 3rd witness was that was supposed to be "30 minutes" away, which, apparently was just another lie. But why not keep the iron pressing on the DT to produce someone, anyone at that point?

I agree kids should be socialized early on with other kids. But my family is tight and the kids are close in age so they play w/ their cousins who live 3 doors up. Sure they play w/ other kids, but their cousins are like extended siblings.

I doubt Caylee played with other children. Quickies at McDonalds doesnt count, IMO. Relationships with other kids are necessary to their healthy developement. You don't get a relationship at McDonalds playing on the play area things while your mother sits back OBSERVING and texting on her phone. Not a "fact in evidence" but you know Casey considered this good mothering. JMO.

On the issue of jeopardy and mistrials

http://www.scotusblog.com/2010/03/when-are-a-mistrial-and-retrial-double-jeopardy/

During oral argument Monday morning in Renico v. Lett (09-338), the Court will consider whether double jeopardy protections apply when the trial judge declares a mistrial based on a certain mix of signals from the jury which, in the court’s judgment, indicate they are unable to reach a unanimous verdict.

And

http://www.enotes.com/everyday-law-encyclopedia/double-jeopardy
Mistrials are granted when it has become impracticable or impossible to finish a case. Courts typically declare mistrials when jurors fail to unanimously reach a verdict. Like dismissals, mistrials declared at the defendant's behest will not terminate jeopardy or bar re-prosecution. Nor will a mistrial preclude re-prosecution when it is declared with the defendant's consent. Courts disagree whether a defendant's mere silence is tantamount to consent.

A different situation is presented when a mistrial is declared over the defendant's objection. Re-prosecution will be allowed only if the mistrial resulted from "manifest necessity," a standard more rigorous than "reasonably necessary" and less exacting than "absolutely necessary." A mistrial that could have been reasonably avoided will terminate jeopardy, but jeopardy will continue if the mistrial was unavoidable.

Are you referring to Dr. Vass and his book? tia

Dr. William Bass co-authored with Jon Jefferson "Death's Acre: Inside the Legendary Forensic Lab, The Body Farm, Where the Dead Do Tell Tales".
