...”This is a case that is one for the textbooks and one for all future law students,” he said.

...what is he implying? ;)

I think law students will be "studying" the case in Courtroom Incompetence 101.

With a videos of JB as the "don't." :floorlaugh:

In today’s discussion, WKMG’s NeJame provided a memorable line about the trial. ”This is a case that is one for the textbooks and one for all future law students,” he said. “You’ll be reading about this for many, many years to come. There is nothing to compare this to. This is a unique case with a unique set of facts that continues to change like the wind changes.”

LOL.
Well, well. MN should know.

"a unique set of facts that continues to change like the wind changes" ??

oh my. :giggle:

what is he implying? ;)
kinda like CA's statements???

ICA's basically stayed the same - about a kidnapping until trial started...
IT DIDN'T CHANGE IN THE SAME SENTENCE AT LEAST.

but what if... it ends up being one of the parents?
I'm serious! (the sun might fall out of the sky)

:maddening:I remember CM said "and I look forward to exposing hypocrites, liars; "
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SOO Mr Mason... I know you read blogs! Where are the liars?
SHOW ME THE LIARS!! :banghead:

Whole bunch of nothing. He merely cried because he was not let in on the family finally acknowledging KC was indeed pregnant. (He already noticed, mentioned to the Queen, she shot him him down.) He cried b.c he did not go to the hospital when Caylee was born due to family conflict, he regretted. He cried b.c the stress of all of this is too much. He, at first, said he knew nothing of the family finally accepting KC was prego, but on cross he admitted he knew the family was creating a nursery in the house that he still lived in.

In other words, his testimony with JB said he did not know anything about the family accepting KC being prego, JA got him to admit he did. Therefore, his testimony was impeached.

Many years of pent up tears came out and made it seem scripted like a Soap Opera.

I in no way got that from his direct or cross testimony. Direct, he stated yes he noticed, mentions to CA, shot him down. Yes he cried bc the stress, etc. But I didn't get that his testimony was that he knew nothing of the family accepting her pregnancy. I don't think JB was insinuating that. He didn't ask if he knew about the nursery or shower. On cross, JA questioned him on why he didn't cry 2 yrs ago and yet he cried today. His answer was that at that time he had not 100% accepted that Caylee was dead but as of today he has excepted that she is and he has regrets about not spending more time with her and not being more involved. JA tried to impeach him about him not being involvedbut turned it around that he was saying he knew nothing and went as far as using the nursery etc as how could you not know, you lived there. JA tried to impeach him on stating in his depo that his parents were over the top about the pregnancy - but in my opinion, he was referring to them being over the top about having Caylee NOT the pregnancy. IMO JA was playing wordgames. All JMO FWIW

Interesting theory, Dr. Fessel. Do we know if the Judge talked to KC? :waitasec:

I've been thinking that maybe CM wants to quit because of JB's skirting of the laws. He might not want all that reflected on his own good record or his license to practice. Maybe the Judge needed the weekend to find case law to decide whether to allow it at this late date. Also, lawyers are required to report lawyers who break laws to the Bar so maybe CM wants to do that over something he knows due to working with JB. I think this may also cause the Judge to need some legal research to see how that would impact the case. These are just guesses of course but I've based them on things that Mark NeJame and rhornsby have said.

Yes she went back to the judges chambers with her lawyers minus the SA.

Casey fire Baez or Mason or anyone?

Uh. Has she grown a brain lately? Since when? "FIring" someone would take an amount of Smarts that I've never seen Casey demonstrate before. I mean, it COULD happen, I suppose. I guess. Maybe.

But "smarts" and "Casey" don't seem to go together.

Hi WSers... I have a question that's been bugging me in my head. It has to do with ICA preparing to make a getaway in one of the news stories I read couple years or so ago. If I remember right, LE had stopped her in a car somewhere. If I'm correct in remembering that.. can any of you smart WSers point me to the correct thread so I can read up on it.
TIA :waitasec:

I think Casey tried to fire someone and the judge gave her the weekend to think about it. They got her to agree to the cooling off period and canceled court so going against her wishes would not affect her rights to counsel.

Come Monday morning she will tell the judge if she wants to go ahead and fire the person.

I agree, and this is the only theory of the countless that are out there that makes any sense to me. It explains JB's discomfort when CM asked for the sidebar, and how he pulled CM out of the sidebar and seemed to try to convince him not to go forward with it. It explains JA's expression during those few seconds when he, FG, LDB and the HHJP were waiting for CM and JB to come back. JA was nodding his head as if thinking "yes, this makes sense. It's serious, but not unexpected. Of course she's unhappy with him!" It explains why the defense team met with the judge without the SA present. It explains why the trial had to be recessed even though there were several witnesses waiting to testify. I'm guessing that KC made some remark about JB at the meeting that they had right before the day started, and that CM decided to take it seriously. It also makes sense with the comments that Baez allegedly made to Geraldo that the trial would continue Monday morning as if nothing had ever happened because, as we well know, JB has always been over-confident. He expects that KC will decide to keep him (maybe with some convincing on his part). I know that I, for one, will be glued to my screen at 8:30 tomorrow, though I predict that they will go straight to sidebar. Grrrr.

They don't go together, most likely if that is what has happened the decision was put forth to her from someone else.

Thanks for posting this, Melanie. I was kind of afraid this was due to an issue with the SA's not disclosing information, or something like that. Seeing it broken down this way, though, I definitely now think there is an issue within the DT.

I wonder, too, after seeing that, if Cheney is human and his conscience is actually getting to him or if he's worried about Baez getting him disbarred with him after the trial is over and is trying to save his own bootay. :waitasec:

Mr Baez still has some time. I am sure that CA will make a return appearance, as will Lee. GA will have to testify. Will RC take the stand? It could be a long week. Lots of bombshells?

Wasn't Mason the most recent big blunderer? Inquiring about ICA being handcuffed, which opened a door and sent the jury out YET AGAIN???

UNLESS that was a sly move on his part to expose CA and her priororties at a time when Caylee SHOULD have been the main focus?
I mean srsly! who brings up my daughter made charges on my credit card when you haven't seen your grandbaby in a month??

o- and it smells like a dead body has been in the damn car...
CA is <an unusual woman>

Have been mulling this over since yesterday.

I think CM in some attempt to salvage his reputation is trying to set the record straight as to something. I believe that JB and ICA weren't happy about CM saying anything at all about whatever it is because the eye contact JB and ICA made as soon as CM mentioned he had another subject he wanted to bring up. That look to me seemed almost like they were saying "can't believe he is really going to do this"

Either CM found some impropriety or is trying to set the record straight as to where the DT is headed. On Friday HHJP even made some comment regarding they were going probably because the DT's opening statement talked of abuse by LA but when they had him on the stand they never brought it up, so it could be this.

Whatever it was when the DT was back in chambers alone with HHJP I think there was probably bickering between CM and JB about it. So that is when HHJP called in the SA to let them know that he was going to give the DT the weekend to come to some agreement and get their ducks in a row.

I guess we will see in the morning, bet no one is sleeping in late tomorrow!

It makes sense to me that he would cry now and not two years ago. The way I read it, he, along with everyone else in the family, believed up until 6 or 7 weeks ago still believed the whole Zanny thing. Then he finds out that he was bamboozled along with everyone. The whole thing was a lie. Caylee drowned in the pool. (That's not what I believe, but I think the family believes it, at least to a point). So now he knows he looks like an idiot. He has been defending her all along. All those jail visits of him trying to get the secret code info out of her. That alone should make him cry. Plus, now he probably really thinks "oh my god, my sister is a freakin monster". Seems pretty stressfull to me.

Yes she went back to the judges chambers with her lawyers minus the SA.

When did that take place? When JB interrupted the sidebar I thought HHJP went in his door, but the DT & KC went in the holding cell door.

this is a lovely post :takeabow:

watching this, i was thinking about how we have raised our son and daughter to be best friends. we had friends when they were little that allowed feuds between their kids. we made sure our kids knew that they were to always, always, take care of each other. they have done this and love each other dearly. i think in all the machinations happening in the A's house, they tried to stick together, and that LA, who i think is the only one that didn't inherit the "mistruthin" gene, bonded with his sister. he really was trying to help her out in the beginning.

I know exactly what you mean. Our son is 23, our daughter is 19. So I kind of look at the situation and see Casey and her pregnancy in that light. And I know that IF [ God forbid] our daughter became pregnant right now, our son would be pretty upset with her. She has no fiance so to speak, and she has a lot of future goals and plans. So our son would be disappointed with her. And she takes his criticism to heart. I am sure he would be supportive eventually, but at first he would be upset.
So I can easily understand why Casey would want to keep her brother out of the loop at first. So it bugs me that the DT is trying to make that an ugly, sinister thing instead of kind of a normal thing between a big brother and a little sister. Big brothers are kind of strict with their sisters. It does not mean they are abusing them, it is because they are protecting them. imoo

I'm pages behind, trying to catch up with this thread, but want to ask what everyone expects in the coming week.

The DT says they will rest on Wednesday or Thursday, and the state will do a rebuttal with an estimate of 1 - 2 days. So the jury will likely get this case on Friday or Saturday. From what HHBP said, it sounds like the jury may deliberate over the 4th of July weekend. So we might have a verdict the following week, anytime from Tuesday, July 5th through that week.

I expect the DT to expand on their opening statement regarding accidental drowning. The DT's argument that it was an accidental drowning is the only thing they have.

I think the state's rebuttal will be stunning! I expect the state to put Dr. Garavaglia on the witness stand to refute the allegations by Dr. Spitz that the autopsy was shoddy. I also expect the state to introduce phone records that will show that Cindy was at work at the time the searches for chloroform, neck-breaking, household weapons, etc. were made. Those same records may refute the theory of an accidental drowning too.

What do you expect this week? Who will be put on the witness stand? Will we get any explanation in regards to the "legal matter" that brought Saturday's session to a halt?

Many people have been dissecting the body language of the key players and speculating about what the meeting behind closed doors could possibly mean but I haven't read anything about the last minute of this video when DS approaches JA and LDB Saturday morning. FG is busy on the phone, LDB appears to be watching or looking to see if someone has left (just prior to DS arriving at the PT table) and JA appears to be quite animated during the conversation with DS. It's hard to tell if JA is smiling or not but he sure is moving his arms and head while conversing.

23:00 minute mark

The judges chambers has a back door and a special hallway that gives him access to those rooms without having to go past the public or the cameras.

With all the talk and hype about Casey's Dream Team leading up to this trial, I have to laugh, and laugh, and laugh some more.

It's more like The Jose Baez 'In Your Dreams' Team.

Bet the wind is knocked right out of ICA's sail when she see's what's left of her 'Dream Team' out there flailing everyday.

LOL, I know that's right. I hope I can sleep through the night.

However, I keep getting deja-vu, back to a time when I was working at a place where two employees had a big row on a Friday after noon. They were taken into the managers office, other managers came and went. We could hear yelling, one employee came out with tears streaming down her face. Rumors abounded over who would get fired, and what had happened.

Other employees called each other and emailed all weekend long. Monday could not get there soon enough. When Monday came BOTH employees were back as if nothing had ever happened, and we NEVER found out what happened.

I hope not...But this situation could turn out the same.:maddening:
