2011.12.18 -Jeff Ashton Interview on Websleuths Radio

  • #21
I'm going to echo the previous posters; it was a great show. So great to hear Mr. Ashton answer the questions so many of us have had. He was exactly like I thought he'd be, very genuine and down to earth.

Thanks to RR0004 for getting the contact details so the arrangements could be made to have him on the show, and thank you Tricia for a great interview.

Great show! Mr. Ashton was very generous to come on here and answer our questions. Any way we could get Yummy. . . I mean. . . .Yuri next? :innocent:

I had a 90 second delay on the broadcast but not on the chat so was seeing comments on what I hadn't even heard yet. Nevertheless, great show. Thanks everyone

Fun show!!! Many thanks to Beach and AZLawyer for helping too!

And the chat room was rockin'!! Thanks EVERYONE! :rocker:

CRAP!! I J.U.S.T. remembered this was tonight. Been so involved in my Alma Mater molestation scandal I forgot all about this. Must go read this thread!

Pooh. Not much on this thread re: the show. Where can I re-listen?

Listened to the show tonite.
It was thrilling to hear all of your voices! (Tricia, Kimster, Tim, AZLawyer)
Actually got to talk to Jeff.
Saw several trolls on the blog. Please tell me it wasn't Cindy!
Jeff didn't really reveal anything new. I kind of thought he was very resevered and controlled. (I guess I kinda hoped that with all the work and time we have all put in he would have allowed us a few more tidbits).

Who is the Father? I've been asking for YEARS! And I predicted this outcome.

You sounded lovely Pattymarie - well done! And I have a feeling after 30 years as a prosector, Jeff Ashton always takes the high road...

He did sound reserved. Probably was wondering what he got himself into...lol. He should take the time and come and see what we're about.

PS- you were great Pattymarie!!

What were some of the best questions?

What were some of the best questions?

Some clearer answers about the duct tape, how it was wrapped and the one spare which Jeff did not think was used to bind Caylee's hands which we did because of the short hairs on it was new info to me.

There wasn't much I hadn't already heard. Jeff doesn't "dish" about the players in this case - he talked about George and Cindy but doesn't even begin to trash them (even if they deserved it) but says as much supportive stuff he can.

He did say it's absolute nonsense to suggest the suicide letter from George wasn't a real attempt - he said it definitely was and changes in George's handwriting were very visible as the medication mix "took".

Also said he had no idea who Caylee's father was- no one they found and he sounded (to me) as if it was distasteful to be discussing it.

Oh and he did say the State did get some information or something they'd overlooked off of "blogs" but he disliked the constant direct emails that were coming in - some were quite persistent.

Just my opinion, but I still think that piece of tape was used to bind Caylee's hands. I can see small facial hairs but I would also expect to see head hair attached too if it had been placed around her head.

For the life of me I cannot see the Anthony's being "normal", we saw with our own eyes how ugly these people were and how they tried to pin Caylee's murder onto anyone and everyone they could besides their own murdering daughter. Yeah, for whatever reason Jeff took the hight road.

He did say it's absolute nonsense to suggest the suicide letter from George wasn't a real attempt - he said it definitely was and changes in George's handwriting were very visible as the medication mix "took".
I do agree with Jeff on this point.

Also said he had no idea who Caylee's father was- no one they found and he sounded (to me) as if it was distasteful to be discussing it.
He also said that OCA's last story was that she thought she had been raped at a party. Yeah, right OCA.

Oh and he did say the State did get some information or something they'd overlooked off of "blogs" but he disliked the constant direct emails that were coming in - some were quite persistent.
I felt bad that people had bombarded them with e-mails. That truely was a shame.

THANK YOU Tricia and all others who made this interview with Mr. Ashton happen. It was indeed a gift!

And thank you, Mr. Ashton, for your candor and for all that you, Linda and Frank did for Caylee.

I think Ashton is just not the gossipy type. There were things of a more personal nature regarding the A's on which he was reserved but as for anything dealing with the trial and investigations he was open and sincere, IMO. I liked his comment about Judge Perry possibly believing that with such strong evidence he felt no harm would be done by petting the defense to the degree that he did. That seemed honest and could be exactly why Perry responded the way he did in the face of JB's incompetence. Also, that Judge Perry was just as "shocked as the rest of us" over the verdict. I have always believed that to be the case.

And finally, regarding the jury--Ashton was a bit reserved there initially but he did eventually say that he believed this jury came in with no intention to convict and when that happens they will see reasonable doubt no matter what. I think that was right on and he certainly did not reserve comment on it.

Ashton's interview was great, IMO! I especially like that he is a gentleman and does not trash anyone involved. It is obvious that while the prosecution was disappointed in the verdict there are no sour grapes over it.

well I just got done listening since I fell asleep last night before ti started UGH! great job tricia, azlawyer, kimster, and beach, I am so proud of myself I didnt start crying til the end!! I was very interested to hear him say he got a note that he believed was from a juror thanking him for being kind in the book (well I didnt think he was kind at all towards them, only honest) I wonder if it really was a juror and s/he really read the book? interesting to me, if I had to place bets I'd say it was juror number 2.

also, that they didnt think the 4th piece of tape was used on caylee's hands, I myself have always thought and still do that it was used to cover her eyes. poor little girl. what a shame her cold hearted vicious coward of a mother will never see justice.
