2015.08.26 Jimmy Rodgers: Charged with Murder in the Second Degree

Thanks, NIN.
A very important detail yet it is not sourced in that post. I don't believe that came out of the air, though. Still digging.

Is there a possibility that any information on JR was in Skinner's posts???

I do remember reading bits and pieces about JR and him inheriting a gun collection, but that was back in the early days of this case.

The only inherited guns mentioned in Skinner's thread were the ones inherited by MS from his father.

Oops! Sorry, my recollection was definitely off ....

Kate,

all I could find is this WS post #678:

Jimmy's father was a crook when JR was a young lad. His dad was driving at an alarming rate of speed in an attempt to outrun the police who were chasing him. He died in a fatal car accident as a result. JRs father had a large cache of weapons. These are the same weapons that JR possessed when he was released from jail. JR could have owned more weapons than those belonging to his father. Upon a subsequent LEO visit to his home, the numerous weapons were discovered; hence, JR went to prison for weapons' possession by a felon.

That's how how died in the Philippines? I realize anybody can say anything in an obituary, so maybe he didn't die there at all.

If Susnoat is around I wonder if she knows?

Note:

Removed a few recent posts.

A link to a reliable source that confirms JR's father's manner of death will be permitted to stand.

Please - no linking to obituaries (identifies a host of innocent people) and no sleuthing of family/friends of JR. Crosses the line.

I realize there was no malicious intention -.from a moderation perspective, we deal with obits in nearly every case. They are rarely permitted and only for some exceptional reason.

Just keep it between the lines and always defer on the side of protecting the privacy of innocents.

Beach, thanks for recognizing that it wasn't malicious. Just so you guys know that when I do post things that (I later find) get deleted, it's not always clear to me that mods did it, not that I bolloxed another post because my puter is slooow, I have issues with the WS website sometimes - this morning for example - parts of pages are missing, some never load fully, things look very different, etc. PLUS the fact that I often write a post and forget to hit 'submit' - I generally have over a dozen webpages open at the same time, sometimes 5 in WS alone and I trip on my own tail :gah:

Thank you for understanding, I do apologize for the extra work I cause you guys - it is NEVER intentional. :shame:

:loveyou:

No worries! Seriously. I totally understand how things spiral and it's easy to veer off track without realizing you're even doing it. :blowkiss:

There seems to be some questions about the weapons JR inherited. Judging by the date of the post, the information had to be available to us on or prior to Aug. 31.

"Rodgers’s only felony charge was filed in 2007, when he was 17 years old. He was accused of resisting arrest by fleeing and was sentenced to five years probation.
The felony conviction came two years later when he was caught with 43 rifles, pistols and shotguns that belonged to his deceased father. He was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.
His lawyer in the federal case said in court filings that Rodgers had been told that he could return to the home he shared with his brother, as long as he didn’t touch the firearms. Prosecutors said Rodgers continued to acquire new guns after the state conviction.
He was arrested in 2010 for possession of a sawed-off shotgun. He pleaded guilty in 2011 and was sentenced to 57 months in prison and was released in September 2014."

"Rodgers' only Missouri felony charge was filed in 2007 when, at age 17, he was accused of resisting arrest by fleeing in Monroe County, Mo. He was sentenced to five years probation. His lawyer at the time said that Rodgers was in a “hot rod” and didn't immediately pull over for police.

According to sources, that state felony conviction was the basis of a federal charge of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon that was filed in 2009. Officials said he was caught with 43 rifles, pistols and shotguns that belonged to his deceased father.

His lawyer .... said .... Rodgers had been told that as long as he did not touch the firearms there, he could return to the house he shared with his brother.

Federal prosecutors disputed .... said Rodgers continued to acquire new guns .... They noted that he was arrested in 2010 for possession of a sawed-off shotgun. In 2011 he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 57 months in federal prison. He was released in September 2014.

Good catch on the sawed-off shotgun in 2010, which I hadn't read before. That was after the charges about his deceased father's guns. Short-barreled (less than 16") rifles are popular these days with the police and military (less cumbersome getting in and out of vehicles and buildings), and like sound suppressors can be legal for citizens with the correct paperwork (takes months) and the payment of a tax (I think $200). Not sure if short-barreled shotguns (less than 18") are covered by the tax, though those too have been used by police and military, but in any case JR was clearly stupid to be caught, apparently at least twice, violating his parole. Great hire by CWW, and great to know that CWW and JR

Thanks DeDee, I do believe that it was JR and NOT his dad who we thought was driving recklessly. I don't think there is anything more to his Dad's story or death after rereading. He was a guard at Moberly Corrections center when he died (info in obit)

From article below:

While I understand your reasonable assessment, I will continue to locate where I read the part about JRR's father attempting to avoid police by leading them on a chase when JLR hit a tree creating a fatal accident. I did not pull that conclusion out of thin air.

However, until we definitively learn differently, we will stand by JRR's father's obit that mentions the death occurred while in the Philippines. Mr. JLR passed on Sept 3 and was buried on Sept 29, 2007 which could explain the length of time required in receiving his casket from the Philippines as that action takes some time.

Did anyone else think it was interesting that JR was AW's late daughter, C's, boyfriend when she passed away in March 2015? This per Charles R's interview.
