2015.10.20 Elizabeth Parker - Defense Attorney representing CWW

  • #141
I wonder what the quality of the Walmart tape is? As little info that SMS has put out they made sure that tidbit got out to the public. Bluffing??? I'm not doubting the recording exists I'm simply wondering the positioning of LE vs CWW. Remember CWW's prior attorney claims CWW was never in FL. Hopefully the quality of the recording is very clear or they have other evidence connecting CWW at the time of the murder.
Given that they had probable cause to search his trailer July 12, barely 2 weeks after the murder, I'm sure they have more than just the surveillance video.

I hear you WC- I am still very curious as to why they held him for IIRC 12 hours and had to wait until August 28 th to arrest him.
This savvy lawyer will be interesting to watch. I'm sure that the forms we have seen are standard but - not guilty DEMANDS trial by jury..... He is in no position to demand anything.

"Kaplan said that the partners connected with Wright through someone the firm represented in Missouri, where Wright is from and was arrested" - a family member perhaps?
"Connected" .... so much connectivity going on! Interesting that word just popped into his head.

Four in Your Corner talks to Sievers' murder suspect's attorney

Kaplan said he's been in contact with Wright since the extradition proceedings started. He said said he hadn't heard of this case before his firm took it on.

Kaplan is a former FBI agent, and said the firm does their own investigations from start to finish.
"We kind of take on the approach as if we were investigating the case. As if we were looking into whether or not there was a crime committed or not, or whether or not the person who's accused of the crime is actually the person who's responsible.
...
Just a day before Dr. Sievers' murder, Sheriff Scott says Wright was seen on surveillance at a Fort Myers Walmart with Rodgers. "Why was Mr. Wright in Florida the day before Dr. Sievers' murder?" Four in Your Corner's Lisa Greenberg asked Kaplan. "The only thing I can say with respect to that is I don't have anything at this point that indicates whether he was in the state of Florida or not," Kaplan answered.

At the end of that interview it says MS has signed over his shares of the practice and has to vacate by sat. Who else has shares?

Probably everyone in the building

CWW will want to go to trial as he thinks he can get off. That is how psychopaths think.

If he is on Walmart surveillance, it will be from multiple cameras.

If people are afraid of him, he will have several people say he was in MO.

Speaking of psychopaths. I'm surprised he's not representing himself like the LIRR killer, Colin Ferguson.

Do you have a link for this? I thought it was JRR's attorney that said he was never in FL, but I could be mistaken.

i couldn't find where Wright's attorney said he was never in Florida, but i did find the following (disclaimer: i didn't do a deep google search)

“Wrongfully accused,” says attorney for Sievers murder suspect | WINK NEWS

Wright’s attorney Daris Almond says he believes in Wright’s innocence, saying “evidence will clearly show Wright did not participate in the crime.”

He added, “the state cannot prove any involvement beyond a reasonable doubt.”

How would he know that if he hasn't reviewed the discovery??

Maybe his client will concede he was there, but didn't participate?
That's felony murder, so I don't think they'll be conceding that.

Sheriff Scott says Wright was seen on surveillance at a Fort Myers Walmart with Rodgers.

So this is what lead them to suspect CWW from the get go. And all they had to do was look on FB and see him and MS were bff.

They had to have something to get them that far. :/ Either LE found something at the home that led them to suspect CCW and/or JR, or MS suspected CWW and told LE from the beginning? Walmart video would be one more lead/evidence.

The "digital footprint" is totally explainable if CWW & JRR used a rental car!
"In another famous case a Payless customer expected a bill for $259.51. He was instead slapped with a bill for $3,405.05, which was reached by adding a $1 per mile to each of the 2,874 miles he had driven, because he had crossed the California state line into Nevada and, later, he drove into Arizona. That triggered the fines, because the contract prohibited leaving the state.

In many more cases, numerous Florida car rental companies are notorious for literally shutting off engines of cars that cross state lines. The cars may be restarted upon agreement to pay new fees. "

Maybe a relative got a rental car for them. Hate to be all "Hollywood" on ya' but isn't that the 2nd thing every detective asks? DID YOU CHECK ALL THE CAR RENTAL COMPANIES?

bbm: interesting statement. To me, that's not the same as saying "he didn't do it because he wasn't there." or "evidence will clearly show he wasn't even there."

They will have to work with what they've got and right now, unless CWW's talking to his attorney, all they have is what LE has released and it's in direct opposition to his client's "not being in the state".

I will have to look up the quote, but I remember something along the lines that 'he has no evidence CWW was in FL' & that the D.A. has not furnished any evidence to the contrary.

Either way...the attorney's statement is totally preposterous.

I used to think that when defense attorney's make preposterous statements it would backfire on them.

A high profile Florida murder case proved me wrong. JMO
