Multiple PDS Tornado alerts along the eastern coast of Florida, varying from east of Palm Beach up to Fort Pierce and farther north into Indian River County. Some have visible debris fields, and have gone through residential areas as well as unoccupied land.

These are very strong and very long-lasting tornadoes that are progressing northbound.

These are all in areas that were not under any hurricane watch and would not likely have made any significant wind preparations. There are reports of homes severely damaged and people trapped in the wreckage.

There are also waterspouts ( tornadoes in water) in the area whose track is heading west, onto land and are severe and likely to cause damage and life-hazards.

Our local meteorologist (that’s pretty good) said the latest update that it sped up and probably would make landfall in 3-4 hours.

Key Messages from @NHC_Atlantic
1. A large area of destructive storm surge, with highest inundations of 10 ft or greater, is expected along a portion of the west-central coast of the Florida Peninsula. Near the coast the surge will be accompanied by damaging waves. Water levels will rise rapidly as the eye approaches, and strong onshore winds on the backside of the hurricane will also cause a rapid rise in water as the center makes landfall.

2. Devastating hurricane-force winds are expected along portions of the west coast of Florida within the Hurricane Warning area. Life-threatening hurricane-force winds, especially in gusts, are expected to spread inland across the peninsula and to portions of the Florida east coast within the Hurricane Warning area tonight and early Thursday. Residents should be prepared to take shelter in an interior room, away from windows, as the core of the hurricane moves across the central Florida Peninsula.

3. The risk of strong tornadoes will continue into the evening hours across the southern and central portions of the Florida Peninsula. Be prepared to take immediate shelter in an interior room if a Tornado Warning is issued for your area.

4. Heavy rainfall across the Florida Peninsula through Thursday brings the risk of catastrophic and life-threatening flash and urban flooding along with moderate to major river flooding, especially in areas where coastal and inland flooding combine to increase the overall flood threat.

feel so strange to actually WATCH all these... almost voyeuristic.
I know what you mean. I can read about difficult situations, listen to audio describing it, and talk about it, but videos are hard for me to take (not just for this situation, but in general).

"The best way for people to stay safe, according to the FWC, is to stay alert and give wildlife their space. They have also suggested anyone avoid helping or rescuing wildlife during or after a storm if it would put them in danger.

Severe weather conditions can often displace and disorient wildlife, due to high winds, and flooding can allow more access to unusual areas.

Disorientation and stress caused by storms and hurricanes can often lead wildlife to act differently and potentially more aggressively than their typical nature."

Sarasota Florida has issued Shelter In Place alert. Too dangerous for further evacuation.
