There were also frantic calls to K's ex boyfriend, but I already forgot the time of them.
Both K&M called him.

This is a real curiosity to me. I understand KG had a history sort of doing that, but even when you set that aside it's still really interesting. That many calls and that short of time from both phones makes you wonder if they heard something, saw something (that was maybe left for them while they were out?), or I wonder further if they were threatened by someone. I would almost think they came home to discover someone attacked IF there was no DoorDash I could consider that, but it does not fit.

I think this is a very significant issue that has been downplayed but there's something behind it. It could have been as easy as hacking into their accounts and they wanted to know what to do about it, maybe they could tell that someone was outside. It just has to be explained at trial. JMOO

Around 2.50am was the last call made to Kaylee's ex.

"Alivea Goncalves, Kaylee’s sister previously told Inside Edition that Kaylee called a man named Jack six times between 2:26am at 2:52am in the morning.
Her roommate Moden also called Jack three times as well from 2.44am to 2.52am
."

The timing, that lines up with BK turning off his phone @ 2:48 and leaving Pullman. I just feel it has to be related. I wonder if they discovered evidence of him hacking their accounts for something? Could he have known they made calls and no one responded? I have wondered if he had something like a parental app so he could see their phone activity, however that could be possible? JMOO

IDK, my gut feeling is no. But if LE do have evidence of BK hacking their accounts then BK's toast Imo.

MOO two young women come back from a Saturday night out and call an ex boyfriend excessively.
That sounds totally normal for their age and social group actually.

Does anyone else on this case ponder at the oddness of a door dash to occur at the approximation of the time of the murders? What are the odds of this? It makes someone pause and think someone had to be diligently observing the comings and goings, cellphone activity, etc. I mean you don't wanna go in and murder a bunch of folks if you are gonna risk being seen by some erroneous delivery person. It is almost like the perpetrator knew all cellphone activity or wifi activity.
Not sure. Luck and timimg plays a part in all crime, from shoplifting to quadruple murder.
My take is he ramped himself up driving around and around his target and then just went in a did what he did as fast and quiet as a Ranger.

Cell Phone analysis:

Just got through reading a cell phone analysis in an affidavit of another case that showed me how they connect everything together. All the evidence collected from the phone and then compare it to all the other evidence collected. Amazing! It helped me understand what LE can do with cell phone analysis in a case like this. JMO

They used Cast and Trax, then compared it to I phone downloads, I cloud data, crime data (like time and camera captures etc). They also are able to locate cell towers used to make calls. Compared the cell phone track/timing to text a message sent. Compared video footage/license plate readers to the phone track.

They were able to see that this individual returned to a rural intersection, right down to an intersection!, and they searched the area after noticing that.

Really amazing!
MOO

Well that sure is interesting to hear because I thought I was losing it. Suppose if you are OCD and fascinated by crime scene investigation, maybe. It's just another level. JMOO

I'll just say that I do not have OCD or OCP and I still get into random obsessions related to my field of study (which, like criminology, is fairly broad). I think a lot of academics have intensity about what others might perceive as random things, anyway.

I will also say that I hadn't thought about Kohberger actually trying to conduct experiments with his murder plans. Well, I was thinking it was just thought experiments (which of course he did, if he is the murderer - which the actions of the Defense have convinced me he is). I am also wondering exactly what he took from his apartment to PA.

OTOH, it's hard to imagine him living a cash-only life. I wonder what search engines he used. I've been hopeful it was a major one, but maybe he practiced stealth mode there, as well.

IMO.

Right but really they were just with him. When the OP use the word frantic, my spidey senses felt it was more than just fun. I would like to think they were having fun not scared, threatened or knew someone was trying to enter. JMOO

I'm curious - what makes you think the calls were frantic? Drunk dialing the ex is apparently a thing and can be done in pairs - esp. if both women know the guy. Guys posted in various online forums about having gotten such calls (and generally disliked it). IIRC, there was some kind of ongoing discussion about the custody of the dog.

What I remember is that they called a bunch of times, giving proof of life. Does anyone have a link for the content of the calls? I'm sure LE knows, but did they ever say?

I'm going with late night silliness after drinking and eating carbonara, etc., until we have more on those calls (and maybe we do, but I missed it).

imo

They had not just been with him.

Are you thinking of the guy that escorted them to their ride? He was asked to escort them as part of a safety arrangement (U of I actually provides rides and an escort service, but I can't remember if this particular guy was part of that service). At any rate, he's fully accounted for and is definitely not the ex. The ex was not at the food truck. The ex was not at the bar before that.

IMO.

I will try to see if I can find it there was an image of him stopping by The Corner Club. Maybe it wasn't an approved source at the time or maybe it was more conjecture (and used from another night) and has been disproven, which I missed. I will look to see if I can find anything but it is not something I made up, and it was early on so I'll have to go back.

Edit: I have screen images from TT (which I do not have the app) showing someone who looks just like him in a hat just like his same smile/grin sitting on a bar stool. I can find this information referenced in YouTube but so far cannot find MPD source stating emphatically that is him. Looks very friendly, smiling and like a good time was shared by all. I will look further to see if I can confirm with better sourcing.

It's okay - it's entirely possible. But that was quite a bit earlier in the evening.

Drunk dialing as an end of an evening would be motivated by a kind of fond silliness. I myself do not recall that JD was at The Corner Club and am pretty sure there is no image of him there. I say this because, like many people, I felt he had to be included on a list of suspects and I kept notes about everything I could find about him (and it was a lot). I think of many reasons why they called him, but it wouldn't be to catch up on the evening's activities anyway, it was to make contact, have fun. Maybe even see if they could get him to come over to share in the food truck meal. IOW, a little party. Makes as much sense as anything else.

If those calls had been "frantic" that would be a huge bombshell and put real doubt on everything else we know about this case. Why would they be frantic? Some other dude (because it couldn't be Kohberger) is menacing them? How? Someone is down in their yard? Someone followed them? In that case, the BF ought to have gone over to the house (he lived a block away). It would be a huge piece of exonerating evidence. And the BF would have expressed tremendous regret, IMO. And frankly, it should have been on blast to the media at that time - but it wasn't. The time frame for which LE sought video footage would be different. And of course, investigating and arresting Kohberger would have been an odd thing to do - unless he was over there earlier, without his phone. Which I sincerely doubt.

I'm going to go with what Kaylee's family said about it:

(Although I think they are guessing, they obviously would have mentioned if the calls were frantic - they think it's entirely the opposite).

IMO.

Isn’t this the picture? Daily Mail is an approved source.

Yes, now I remember too.

He was (allegedly) in the club that night - I also remember seeing this picture.

Thank you for confirming that. Sometimes it's just nice to know I'm not crazy even if I can't find an approved source. Still looking. MPD may have still been investigating at the time making sure they had everything straight so I understand not rubber stamping it. JMOO

Okay yes that is the shot. I'm also remembering a shot for comparison side by side. And again, I can find it on the beginning of TT videos talking about this. (showing him and pretty much the same ball cap with the same beard it's a very good likeness). In my mind, I believe this was confirmed but TDM is not my go-to source, so thank you.

From all I’ve heard, I wouldn’t describe their calls as frantic, rather, persistent.
