I’m guessing you and I are very similar- with any case where there’s mention of a surviving pet I’m always eager to know its status, hoping it’s with a loving new Mom/Dad. ❤️
Yes, sounds like we are very similar. Having just checked out Murphy's Instagram page, it sure looks like Murphy's Dad is taking very good care of him.
The crimes which occurred at King Rd must have been deeply distressing for him, even if he didn't actually see them. My heart breaks every time I think of it.
Thankfully Murphy appears to be going as well as possible under the circumstances, thanks to his Dad's love.

A little stress reliever.
Bill Thompson, prosecutor, apparently has a second gig as a guitar player. Geez. The state should just give him the extra budget for the case. :)
"I’m in four bands right now. ... The primary band is a group called The Intentions. We play old rock ’n’ roll and more modern Americana, some country, some folk, up to current-day music in some senses. It’s an electric band, primarily — a five-piece band." Thompson told the Lewiston Tribute here 2018. From article about him called Casual Friday: A rhythm of law and music, Latah County Prosecutor Bill Thompson has long been part of the region’s music scene. Intentions FB page has photo of BT w the boys in the band here.

Here's Thompson playing w The Intentions last night 7/7/23 at Patty's Mexican Kitchen and Catering

This is the first I've heard that the calls to K's ex were frantic. Even Google doesn't know that when I asked. LOL Do you have a link to support that? I'd really like to see if if so. :) I found the opposite:

Goncalves’ family has now shed new light on why she might have been calling her ex-boyfriend Jack DuCoeur in the hours before she was brutally attacked. In a sit-down interview with the YouTube channel Chronicles of Olivia — filmed two days before Mr Kohberger’s arrest– the Goncalves said their daughter broke up with Mr DuCoeur ahead of her post-graduation move to Texas, but had later voiced concerns that she “might not ever find another Jack” and was considering getting back together with him.

MOO interpreting redialing a bunch of times as frantic when that is SOP for the college and younger set.

Reminds me of the lead prosecutor in the Murdaugh trial, Creighton Waters.

Personally, I think that if they are young exes who parted ways, and JD is still in college, he might be upset, but he also feels unattached and behaves like an unattached man. So I tend to think there is a very mundane explanation to not answering the calls and I don’t even understand why people are suspecting him. There are usual scenarios, got drunk and was asleep, got tired and didn’t want to wake up to girls’ calls as they were tipsy, was not alone and didn’t want to answer, and then, some nefarious explanation- I’d opt for mundane reasons.

How do we know he didn't answer the calls? I don't think I've asked that yet.

The Goncalves's seem to think he picked up (and they had info before the gag order). Perhaps they were only hypothesizing - I don't know.

I have never read that he didn't pick up. But if he didn't, then the number of calls make sense.

And I thought it was reported that both Kaylee and Maddie called him. Maybe not. If anyone has links, would be much obiged.

I love that one of the bands is called "The Intentions" - that's pretty apt given his profession :)

His story is out there. But I'll refrain as I'm not sure if it's been officially reported or not. Since it's been so long.

"Alivea Gonclaves said DuCoeur missed the calls from her sister's phone—between 2:26 a.m. and 2:52 a.m.—because he was sleeping. Several calls were also reportedly placed to DuCoeur from Mogen's phone, but not answered."

Reliable source, Kaylee's sister. Yes both Kaylee and Maddie called him and Jack was sleeping and missed the calls.

Kaylee's sister, Alivea Goncalves, was able to download phone logs that show the phone calls made to Jack DuCoeur's phone:

Kaylee calls Jack six times from 2:26 am to 2:44 am
Maddie calls Jack three times from from 2:44 am to 2:52 am
Kaylee makes a final call to Jack at 2:52 am

Alivea said her sister's phone account did not show any other calls and that Jack missed the calls because he was sleeping.

She said Jack was a student at the university and was a childhood friend of her sister's and that they had been dating for years until recently, when they decided to take an amicable break.

She also said that the number of calls was not unusual, that Kaylee would frequently call people until they picked up, even to ask a mundane question such as what she should have for breakfast.

I’ll definitely follow up on Instagram account for Murphy, glad this info was shared. Having Murphy no doubt provides some comfort in such a terrible loss, having my Dad’s “Buddy” after he unexpectedly passed away gives me an ongoing connection to my Dad.

I think it is a moot point because the subpoena was for the Preliminary Hearing which didn't take place.

JMO
Not, it's not because the Defense went on to question BF where she lives, privately. The defense said that BF has potentially exonerating information. Through her attorney, BF said, she doesn't. Yet they did go forward with meeting with her. So obviously, the defense has either been led to believe or is aware, that she knows something to help with the defense.

Murphy's Instagram, maintained by Jack D.
I keep hoping that animal hair found in BK's apt will be Murphy's, and Murphy will be BK's final blow.
JMO.
The results are apparently back in Anne Taylor's possession and there was no link according to what she wrote. We know they are back because she didn't have to request the results again and further she went on to say that there is no evidence to link BK to the victims.

Oh, I see what you're saying. I've been meaning to check on that myself. And YES, you can buy luminol - right on Amazon! I don't think you can buy it in a regular drug store. You can buy the black light that's needed as well.

It would show where the blood is (although microscopic quantities would not be detected).

It's the weekend - I hope we all recover. I hope everyone can stay cool during this next wave of heat.
If a suspect did buy luminal and a black light on AmaZon, I'd imagine that would be incriminating evidence used against them.

Well, if one of them witnessed nothing relevant, no, I wouldn't expect a judge to compel them to be witnesses. It's going to be a long trial as it is.

The Defense could call BF in order to establish she saw or heard nothing specific to the murders. Even if she saw someone outside the house at some point in the evening, she would have to try and establish exactly when. What if she has no clue? "Someone walked past my window after 1 am, no clue when" would not be testimony of use at trial. Unless the Defense were trying to sneak in a SODDI theory - but the grilling poor BF would get over what she saw, and when, would make it so easy to impeach her. Dreadful if the Defense decides to call her if she was completely unaware until 11 am that anything had happened.

What will likely happen if she is called is that the empathy/sympathy level of the jurors will reach the Moon. That's not helpful to the Defense. And the State isn't going to call her if she adds nothing to the case. Trials are not set up according to some outside sense of "who should be called." The neighbors, too? They each have a bit of knowledge. All of the people who called or texted any of the roommates within...what period of time? All of the students at WSU who knew Kohberger (because one of them has something relevant)? What if the the professor a WSU is called because he knows something relevant (by either side). Should the other professors who also had classes with Kohberger be called?

This is not how trials are set up. The State calls the witnesses it needs for its prosecution and the Defense calls people for Kohberger. Since BF apparently did see *something* during the night - or thought she did - and since police DO talk to everyone they can talk to, her words are in the reports. If the Defense calls her, her information better be pretty important - because otherwise, she's likely to help the State. I am hoping neither roommate will be called (and I think the footprint evidence will obviate the need to call DM).

IMO.
DM was a direct witness to seeing the intruder (BK) in the home at the time of the murders and gave statements to LE. She described his appearance and things she 'heard'. There is no way the State is not going to call her and the Defense cross her IMO.

For some reason the Defense was hell bent on getting a statement from BF thinking she may have exculpatory evidence. I believe they will call her if the State doesn't. The exculpatory evidence may be something as simple as texting between the 2 (DM & BF). The Defense will need to be very careful and respectful of these surviving victims if/when they do have them on the stand, nothing can alienate a jury more than a perceived mistreatment of surviving victims. Rightly so.

Both of these young ladies have suffered a very traumatic event and a jury isn't going to look favorably on a stern or combative type examination of them on the stand. I still feel devastated for them and hope they are getting all the support they need in trying to heal.

Talking of Murphy and Jack, does anyone know how they're going? I'm very glad (and surprised that Murphy survived). MOO
I think since Kaylee had already moved out of the house, she and Maddie probably crashed in her room, drunk dialing J for a bit, then fell asleep. Kaylee may have put Murphy in the bathroom because she was sharing a bed with Maddie, and that just may have saved Murphy's life.

You are right. Sometimes I get overly optimistic. The State will call DM. And I hope you're right that the Defense has little to ask her, but they will likely try to establish that she'd been partying, etc.

You made me wonder when those texts may have taken place. Also, I think (IMO) there was a mention in MSM that DM and BF texted the deceased roommates (at least one of them) at around 11 am on Sunday. I'm not sure how the Defense could make much of any of their texts, but they may want to establish a different timeline for events to create reasonable doubt.

How awful for DM, to have to face him and see him in court.

:(

Apologies for replying to my post, adding this still shot of BK in the October traffic stop bodycam footage at 1:27-1:28 that shows a glimpse of the top of the gear shift, and it looks to me like the shiny cap is there (in October), and then gone (in December). MOO

And maybe new rubber on brake and gas pedals.

Yep, major league big time.

I wonder how far back they went with his Amazon purchases? Pretty far, I'd imagine.

It'll be interesting to see how the Judge handles this. The Judge has so much information and evidence that we do not (and some of it is not discoverable - on both sides, although I can't imagine exactly what the Defense would have that's particularly surprising).

imo

Here's a different screengrab view of the gear shift cap being on/in tact in BK's car when he was pulled over by LE on October 14th, which occurs at 1:29.

I've read that the gearshift would be one of a few primary locations LE would typically sample to look for (victim) DNA, as well as the gas & brake pedals, and maybe the trunk.

IIRC, BK and his dad took his car in for service / maintenance after they got back to PA.

So it makes me wonder if something happened to the gear shift cap (or gas pedal/brake rubber pads) between mid October and mid December, if any were replaced during that service.

I wonder if BK told his dad someone had broken into his car and stole some parts like the gearshift cap, and his dad said oh that's too bad son, we'll take it in and have them do a thorough going over and make it good as new for your trip back to WA after the holidays.

All MOO
