Agreed. But do most people flaunt their cash while letting their homes go into foreclosure?

For example, Brad has an office in probably the most expensive high-rise in downtown Orlando.

Instead of moving his office to a much less expensive place, he lets his condo go into foreclosure.

I have a hard time respecting people who game the system for their own benefit.

.

Isn't it interesting, the recent events?

We have yet to hear from one of the dream team experts;
Lee abandons ship;
Andrea mentions they may be declaring Casey indigent;
Dominic closes his office up;
Todd has to be removed from the case;
Marti resigns her post;
The prosecution has something new to investigate;
Mom and pop are in foreclosure;
Brad is in foreclosure......

What is next in this Casey curse?

You just can't make this stuff up!!!

Hopefully the seriousness of her plight will take that smirk off of Casey's face for the next hearing. Once the nonsense with J. Kerley gets shot down, even Casey, at twenty three, will come to realize her defense is in big BIG TROUBLE with no Zanny the Nanny, Ricardo, Amy , Jesse , or even Kronk to be blamed. Once mom and pop divorce and she knows she can no longer count on their solidarity....that will get the ball further down the court too. A girl can hope, right?

Anyone notice the irony that the Anthonys who are too 'disabled' to work are represented by an Attorney that could easily get SSI Disability for his paralysis- and even though it is obviously very difficult and at times exhausting for him to do so, chooses to work for his living.

You can work while on SSDI. With most programs the income you can earn is limited. With other programs it is not.

Maybe they have more than one loan against the house, taken out when they had some equity in it?

IIRC (and I believe this is from DF's book), the reason the Anthonys were even able to buy the home was through CA's credit history as they had recently gone bankrupt. Supposedly they had an 11% interest rate which may have been related to their credit - that was even high for back in the 80's. Don't know if they would have qualified for refi during the boom. GA allegedly took his $65K Workman's Comp settlement and gambled it away (which would have been ample reason for CA herself to be googling Household Weapons had she been home which she wasn't. And may also have been a contributing factor to the initial separation after Caylee was born.) Also, they had recently taken out a home equity loan, so it's entirely possible I'd think that the amount is valid. I don't have the book and can't cite the pages, but a friend read me the passages in DF's book.

Yes, I know. My point was that he of all people could sit at home and collect money, but he shows up for work every day. The Anthonys need to look at him struggling to breathe, count their blessings and get a job.

*5 PM NEWS FLASH*

According to Fox 35, Brad Conway also has a downtown condo being foreclosed on this month. He would not comment on it.

Must be catching, hmmmm?

According to Kathi B on WFTV, Lee has moved out, she did not know when though.

She also interviewed a neighbor, who was a little PO'd because the Anthony's escapades have made property values drop in the neighborhood. He does not feel sorry for them because of that, and because of them going on a cruise while not making payments.

I did find a foreclosure under the name of Bradley A. Conway at myorangeclerk.com/myclerk. I don't understand legalese but it says

02/05/2010 Sale Date (11:00 AM) ()

Well, at least he has some experience to help out the Anthonys. But it looks like his was sold, which is not what the Anthonys want I assume.

I know we shouldn't speculate but I can't resist......

No-one is going to be homeless. On the contrary the A's may move to a nicer home - owned by some "mystery friend".

I'm not a betting woman but I'd gamble on this one.

  • #367
Yes, I do believe they have a second mortgage too. What a shame, to live in the same home since 1986 and still not own it, yet alone have nothing to show for years and years and nineteen long years of working. Gosh I cannot stand anything Cindy has done in this entire matter, but if I had a man that put me in that kind of financial peril.....the city would be calling the street sweeper to pick up a little somebody from the curb....after I got a little Elin Tiger justice on his azz!!!! George is no hero in Casey's upbringing any more than mom, imo.

Lee moved out is the most important tidbit in this entire matter to me. I am still holding out hope that Lee's absence in every single court hearing speaks volumes and even that the recent info LE was given was from him.

At some point, if he hasn't already...I think he will empty the bucket; because, he is resigned to Casey's fate, he sees his folks wasting away trying to live this lie and sees that this must all end, for everyone's sake.

Snipped with respect.

God, I SOOO want to believe this. I really do. Deep in my heart, I want to think this kid has some sense of right of wrong. And he's got me right there, right on the edge, he's had me hanging by a thread for so long. The only thing that keeps me from committing to him is his most bizarre statement. "To this day, I believe everything my sister tells me." When he said that, I abandoned all hope. Well not ALL hope, I have a tiny bit in reserve. But only for him.

Heh. Channel 6's Louis Bolden called him on it when Brad told him the lie about "they have not made any money off this case."

Brad did admit they got a 20G licensing fee from CBS. Didn't do it on camera, unfortunately.

I live in NYC and personally know 4 people who obtained SSDI and I think fairly easily. Two had heart attacks, one claimed a bad back (his wife, my good friend, even was furious that he wouldn't work and said he was full of chit) and a cousin who claimed OCPD. From knowing the individuals personally I can say that there was not one amongst them who I would consider even marginally disabled. I don't know how they did it, but they did and collected checks for years -1 for 10 years and the others for 20 years.

SSDI is not easy to obtain, trust me on that. I know of only one person who got it on the first application. Personally, I've found that most people are turned down unless they go through an attorney and see the right specialists.

I also know of people who milk the system, but they need the help of doctors to do it. Other people, who are too poor to go to specialists are routinely turned down.

Also, please note that not all disabled people are in wheelchairs and look like they are on death's door.

If Cindy were to take this route, she would need her psychiatrist to agree that she is disabled following SSDI guidelines. She would have to show proof of regular visits, not just to get meds. If she sees a GP, it probably wouldn't go through. You have to have a psychiatrist and a history with the doctor.

As far as the house is concerned, I'm pretty sure that they've let the payments slip enough so that they can get into a better financial agreement with the bank. No doubt at all that they are working with their attorney on this...

I wonder if they took their financial lessons from the Milsteads as well! :angel:

Cannot stop laughing about these lyrics...they remind me so of Casey:

GET A JOB

Kind of solves CA's problem that she discussed with her mother about having to split the profit on the house with GA if she sold it should they get divorced. No alimony. Sounds like and answer to her prayers. JMO

It's interesting to me that the payments stopped in June. Exactly one year after Caylees death.

I believe it was calculated to a degree.

Missing payments is a passive way of letting the banks make the decision for you : ie to sell/move, while saving the money you do have for attys, luxuries etc. (btw there are tons of people who use retail therapy or pampering to try to feel better when they are depressed- they are not unique in this respect).

I don't think they want to be at hopespring anymore for many reasons, but maybe they feel if they tried to sell the house that would be like closing the door on all the good memories they have of Caylee in that home.
Letting the bank make the decision for them would take away the guilt....which I'm sure they have plenty of already.

Hubby had an interesting question about this when I told him.
Can the judge stop any future sales of the house until after trial in case there needs to be a jury walk-through or any other investigations relating to the property where caylee may have been murdered?

In relation to all the comments about them getting tats, earings etc, I get where you are coming from. I have so much respect for people who can manage to carry on through sickness or trauma, and keep holding it together.

But not everyone is like that....I'm not even like that! (oh how I wish I was).

This family was dysfunctional/had mental health issues to begin.

Have they made a gazillion bad choices? ABSOLUTELY! Do I still sympathise with them? Yes, because I understand what it's like to not be able to cope and to be irrational and I haven't had to deal with what they have had to.
It doesn't excuse their actions or aleviate them of accountability, but I 'get it'.

On a final note I want to say that you guys in the US seem to have it a bit easier than here in OZ. Many people here lose their homes over a single missed payment.

All JMO, of course.

Mike attributed it to the "Trouble with Casey."

They told him they will do everything they can to keep it.

Guess maybe they should have made some payments instead of going on that cruise, eh?

I thought Lee was living there, helping pay the bills?

Something seems a little off here.

Pops said he can't get a job b/c of who he is, he might be recognized. Mama got the stress ( ya think)? Hey, they could deliver news papers. It's normally done very early morning, who would see them? They could do crime scene clean up, in all the gear ya where, who would know them? They could shovel cow patties in some field, who would walk thru that 🤬🤬🤬🤬 to interview them? Get the point?

BAC filing foreclosure court papers really doean't mean anything. It's really just the first step. I live in central Florida east of Orlando, and ran into financial problems. I believe the last payment I made (I have paperwork, just not with me) was in Jan 08. I was served a summons on 8/08, a summons requiring a response with in 20 days. I had my attorney respond, and at that point the response was only to request copies from them of all documentation. Since then, the only other response from the mort company was on 2/09 where they amended the foreclosure summons to remove my "unknown spouse" (there is none).

So, it's been over two years since a payment was made, foreclosure is underway, but preceeding very slowly. I would prefer the process was faster, and the bank would reclaim the houise.

To delay even further, after the foreclosure goes to court, and the court grants the foreclosure, and the mort comp puts the house up for auction - up to prior the very minute the auction starts, I can file bankruptcy, and keep the house even longer if I wanted to.

The Casey's could probably remain in that house for another couple of years before the foreclosure finalizes.

I honestly wish I could be like some of you that still have sympathy for the A's in this situation, and I truly mean that. It is a blessing to turn the cheek, because the meek are truly blessed.

My sympathy for them went out the window the day the smell went from death to rotten pizza.

Did we ever find out if there was an actual accounting from all those donations in the grocery stores? It's been so long I can hardly remember. Supposedly that's what bought that Kidfinders Cruise Ship, right? I personally think they've been living out of those jars, her 'disability' and handouts that people sent them...without paying their house payment. Anything so they don't have to be fiscally responsible for their house. Who knows, maybe this is their final straw to KC that they can't help her out because they can't sell their house or mortgage it anymore to pay for her legal fees.

Of course, I could be completely wrong.

Honestly for Brad a foreclosure and a short sell might actually be a better business decision for him. Property values in Florida have been drastically decreased and the housing market has been in very turbulent waters down there. I seriously doubt the condo was Brad's main residence and was probably an investment property.

I have a family member in a very similar situation in Boca. They just bought a new home and were in the process of also selling their condo just before the housing crash there. The condo is now worth a fraction of it's loan value and they are stuck with it because lenders are very strict with loans right now and no one is buying anything down there. That and selling it would be a rather large financial loss.

So yeah Brad may take a bit of a hit on his credit, but then consider his income, and the lost value of his condo. He might have just decided a foreclosure was worth the hit to his credit then having to pay for an investment that isn't worth it's value. It was a business decision and nothing more imho.

I had melanoma cancer and went back to work two weeks after a major surgery instead of the six weeks like I was supposed to because I was a single mom and had kids to support. So it would NOT hurt them to try to work and STOP expecting everyone to give them handouts. They have had money but spent it on the luxeries of life that was not necessary such as a cruise, tattoos, tanning salons, etc. I wonder if they have made their car payments or if those are going to be next things to go.

Exactly! And who really cares about them anymore. If George walked into a grocer and wanted to be a box boy, why couldn't he do that? Most work at night and early morning anyway. There's no reason Cindy can't return to her nursing job. They tend to believe they're celebrities, when in fact they are not. Besides, if George & Cindy can afford tatoos, cruises, diamond earrings, and fancy new clothes (which we don't have by the way) they can certainly afford to pay for a roof over their head.

And stress, ya wanna talk about stress. I have so many medical ailments that I should probably be on sdi. What does Cindy have to be so stressed about? Is she dealing with menopause, diabetes, high cholesterol and a heart condition? Oh no...that would be me.

Gosh she makes me so mad -- the both of them lazy butts do (sorry).

Mel

PS: ETA what exactly do the two of them do all day, after day, after day, after day.....

Halliburton pays Security Guards $800 per day in Iraq... no one would know or care who GA was.
There are lots of options for Cindy with an RN license, if it is still in good standing.

Haven't the Anthony's lost enough? Come on....they didn't kill anyone!

I still feel REALLY bad for both of them.

They haven't lost enough until they lose their freedom and are incarcerated. The foreclosure is only the beginning I think. They did this to themselves.
