I'm only on page 7 of this thread but the one thing that keeps running through my mind, besides agreeing something hinky is up - is - is any part of the house considered a crime scene and would the jury or anyone want to do a tour of it during the trial? If that's the case, would it have to be preserved in any manner by the courts until and during the trial?

Maybe they just can't stand the thought of a whole nation seeing pictures of their home and garden as a murder scene again splashed over national TV when the viewers will not be at sympathetic this time.

Maybe this is an easier way for them to "escape" what they must surely know is coming down the road towards them - the trial, the protesters, a guilty plea - I can't see them staying in the house during and after that. Why not throw it away and keep your cash stashed - I can imagine them thinking that. Whatever is going on - it won't be straightforward - after all these are the Anthonys.

Good Point. Any Attorneys here -

After sleeping on this, I've come to the conclusion that the move to allow their house to go into foreclosure is a calculated move. The house is a liability, both to the Anthonys and to the bank, B of A, that holds the mortgage.

1. We're in a recession and the housing market is severely impacted, so the house wouldn't sell for a profit over the owed amount.

2. People tend to shy away from buying a house where a tragedy occurred. In this case, a 2-year-old child was murdered and possibly in that house.

3. If someone did buy that house they would forever have curious people slowing down to gawk at the house and make the drive from the front of the house around the corner where Caylee's remains were found.

From the Anthony's point of view, they're living in a fish bowl - see number 3 above. They're not well liked in the neighborhood from the depositions of some of their neighbors. Their house has become a big liability to them.

I don't think the house going into foreclosure indicates the Anthonys are in financial straits. I think it's more likely that they decided not to dump more money into a liability and allowed the house to go into foreclosure. There's no way that they didn't know that the bank was going to foreclose on the house.

They may wish to move, but I don't think they'd move out of the area. Cindy's father is in an assisted living facility in Mt. Dora, and her mother lives near there.

ITA. My sister's condo just went to forclosure as it was "upside-down", so I did a little research to see how this would affect her.

Typically the bank does not go after the homeowner for the deficit on what is owed, because the homeowner usually doesn't have any money; judgement useless. They instead declare the loss on their taxes. IRS, in turn, issues a 1099 to the homeowner for the amount of the deficit, treating it as income, and the homeowner is responsible for the taxes.

HOWEVER, and here's the big one, under the Stimulus Plan IRS is forgiving the taxes usually owned.

So for the A's this is a "get out of dodge free card". I do believe they wanted out of the house, couldn't sell it for what was owed. I'm sure their atty. advised them that this is the way to go and won't cost them a penny!

Thanks for the information re: the Stimulus Plan. ITA that George and Cindy want out of that house, for many reasons. I see Cindy and George(maybe they will divorce, I don't have an opinion on that-yet)moving into a nice condo somewhere there in FL. :twocents:

I guess I'm plain stupid because a $785.00 payment on a home is a great deal to me as everyone I know has payments of $1000.00 or more.
If they do lose their house where will they live for less then $785.00 a month?
I can't see CA's brother Rick letting them move in with him, maybe CA's Mom.

They will not be able to find a studio apartment for less then their present mortgage. Not in Orlando.

I think they just decided they didn't want to live there anymore, but the only way they could get rid of that house was to let the bank take it back. In the meanwhile they live rent free for a year until they kick them out. Cunning as always.

Yeal by taking advantage of the system and taking a cruise while they wait.
A lot of people are in the same situation of losing their homes but ... well that's all I can say and still be sorta nice

Holy Homeless on Hopespring!

Hopefully no one will throw them into the woods on Suburban like trash.

Is the $793 just the mortgage payment? What I mean is I escrow my taxes and have pretty high taxes so even though the mortgage itself isn't that high my monthly payment is about $1300.

:waitasec: KC is no longer at home stealing 100's $$$ each month and as a financial drain for her living expenses, car, etc. Also LA moved in to help pay their way so adding CA's disability then they should be net/net better off?

KC must have cost them more per month than the mortgage cost.

Yes, can one of our local members please check the MLS and see if the house is indeed listed for sale? Someone was joking earlier about maybe LP could buy it. That would not surprise me since he said he has bought mom and pop Croslin a car, is going to get his brother to employ them in his sheet rock or drywall company and relocate them all to Cali.

You just can't make this stuff up!
NO! :yow:

Leave them in Florida!!!! :sheesh:

I would suspect that since so many people are in this exact situation with their homes that there would be no deficiency judgement and any debt forgiveness would be a non taxable event. JMHO based on what is going on out there.

I know many people that are using this as an exit strategy and just cannot keep up nor do they want to.

In FL do they accept a deed in lieu?

Sadly, so were mine. I pictured them lounging on the cruise ship, and thought of the many times I've seen CA where it looked as though she had just been to the hairdresser. I guess they donated those "licensing fees" to KC's defense.

And, Cindy had lots of new jewelry.

I can't imagine those two saving any of their ill-gotten gains from Caylee's death.

Such a waste!

The link is up now:

From Conway:

Many had speculated that the Anthonys were profiting off book and movie deals, but their attorney said this foreclosure proves that never occurred.

Thanks for the link.

I think I know how this goes: "book and movie" deals. They never got any money(yet)from any "book and movie" deals, so that is true. So, it is a "mistruth"(to use the Cindyism) the Anthony's were making profit.

Are they going to address that many have speculated that the Anthonys have made profit from the death of their granddaughter?

I thought George and Cindy's "work" was their foundation? I thought George was going to help find missing children using the boat? I thought they were going to help other families who have been through what they say they have been through?

Why is it when I ask simple questions regarding what the Anthonys themselves have claimed and touted, I sound crazy and bitter?

Is it listed? I thought it was just in foreclosure. I missed that. I can see if I can find it for you.

Assuming CA made between $50 and 60K (or more) as a Nurse Manager for a Home Health Agency, her disability pay from an employer policy will pay her around 60% ( or more) of that for 2 years if she meets medical criteria. More than many people have to live on. Then she will either have to apply for SSI disability or find a job.
Add in all the payments they have received for 'licensing fees' and there is no reason not to meet their obligations. They have no legal fees according to BC- he's working Pro Bono isn't he? Since they are at home all the time they could start by selling one of the cars.... things normal people do to conserve funds.

Perhaps a nice unsuspecting couple will buy the house for a steal. Kinda like that really great deal George and Kathy Lutz got when they bought that nice 4,000sq ft home with it's distinctive gabled roof and windows on 112 Ocean Avenue for $80,000.

Haven't the Anthony's lost enough? Come on....they didn't kill anyone!

I still feel REALLY bad for both of them.

The Disability Insurance Plans her company has probably provides for 2 years of coverage, the monthly $ amount paid depends on the level of coverage the employee wants to buy- but the coverage is reviewed monthly as to continued medical necessity, so she may well have been discontinued - specially when they saw her gadding around on a cruise, having a fine time...

They could always get a job. There are several contributors to this site who have suffered the anguish of a murder in their family- I haven't heard them say they resigned from work for life after it happened, they go on making ends meet by working.

bbm:

:bow::bow: ITA. I don't want to see this family crushed with grief, but I do wish they had behaved in a manner that allowed me to still feel some empathy towards their situation. It irks me to feel bad that I don't feel worse for this family. What the @#$ is that all about?

I respect that you do Linda7NJ, without people like you continuing to have compassion for them they truly would be lost. I think the behavior of those I know who have lost people tragically is the standard I have held the A's up to. They have failed miserabley to live up to that standard, but that does not mean they do not feel the same pain. For that they deserve my empathy and I feel badly that I simply do not have any left for them due to the exposure they have given me of themselves...

I totally agree with you Linda. If they want to keep their house I hope they find a way. if they don't want it, then I wish them a speedy foreclosure LOL.
