I swear those questions have always been in my head. Not just with Rafferty but people in general that prey on children. It bothers me a lot and I need to know why. A lot of MR's past has not been brought up. I feel that there is something missing there that is key to why he is like that. JMO

I can't see anyone going to their doctor and saying that they want to have sex with a child. They would probably get labelled as a pedophile and the doctor would have to report them. MOO.

Well that's the whole problem. How can these people actually get the help if they will be labelled when trying to get help. Even if you don't act on them but have those thoughts you will be labelled and probably mistreated by people for trying to get help. Its a no win situation.

They have studies these people for years and every person is different. I dont think they will ever know the answer to this. JMO

These people make me sick. I think all the time, what if that was my daughter? Everything that I heard made me cry and I am still crying because I am terrified of that happening to my child or any child. I cant even begin to imagine what that child went through, it sickens me and it sickens me more that this made those statements to Tara and Daryn. Why wouldnt the judge stop that??? Can he stop it? I have to stop typing or I could really get angry. He is a monster and should be castrated at least......the old fashioned way.

I could barely hear MTR during the police interrogation, as the sound on my computer just would not pick up everything. Could someone please clear this up for me. During the interrogation, did MTR try to implicate TM and RS? This has been gnawing away at me, as I am in disbelief that he would have the audacity to do this if that is what I heard.

There are just still so many questions. I'm thinking of mtr a lot or better of anybody conficted to child rape.
What happend to these people?
I truly don't believe that anybody is born this way.
How can anybody see something else in a child than simply a child?
How can one have sexuell feelings seeing a child?
Why do these people don't seek help when they notice this sick feelings?
Why risking ending up in an horrible prison and being on the *everybody would like to kill me* list?
I still would like to have way more infos about mtr than that what's giving. How was his childhood? Where and who is his real father? How was the relationship with his mother all his life?
When did he started to hate women and why?

I could continue all day. That's how full my head is.

We may never have these answers about MR.
Alot of these questions could be asked of alot of inmates.

Take a look at MR, PB and RW:

All 3 of them went by different names at different times in their lives.
All 3 of them had a history of family problems growing up
All 3 of them didn't have their mother in their lives at some point in time
All 3 of them had anger issues towards their mother
All 3 of them had an absent father from their lives at some point

This is no excuse for what any of them did, many people have this type of childhood/family and others have turned out to be law abiding citizens who have made a great success out of life.

MOO I don't believe family dynamics has anything to do with becoming murderers, I believe it is a chemical imbalance that they are born with. I do believe that the family dynamics could play a part in who they attack (example from all 3 above...they preyed on women....MR being the odd man out and also murdering a child)

Can't find it right now but when we were sleuthing Williams, someone did find a picture that had both of them in it and it wasn't a school picture either.

I don't believe it's possible. They did not know each other. All they had in common was some overlap in the years that they attended the University of Toronto. There has been no other connection between them.

Blanchard, Cantor, and Robichaud (2006) reviewed the research that attempted to identify hormonal aspects of pedophiles.[61] They concluded that there is some evidence that pedophilic men have less testosterone than controls, but that the research is of poor quality and that it is difficult to draw any firm conclusion from it.

A study analyzing the sexual fantasies of 200 heterosexual men by using the Wilson Sex Fantasy Questionnaire exam, determined that males with a pronounced degree of paraphilic interest (including pedophilia) had a greater number of older brothers, a high 2D:4D digit ratio (which would indicate excessive prenatal estrogen exposure), and an elevated probability of being left-handed, suggesting that disturbed hemispheric brain lateralization may play a role in deviant attractions.[88]

Some child molesters — pedophiles or not — threaten their victims to stop them from reporting their actions.[1] Others, like those that often victimize children, can develop complex ways of getting access to children, like gaining the trust of a child's parent, trading children with other pedophiles or, infrequently, get foster children from non-industrialized nations or abduct child victims from strangers.[1] Offending pedophiles may often act interested in the child, to gain the child's interest, loyalty and affection to keep the child from letting others know about the abuse.[1]

Ok, now for a more serious answer. This is where I think our prisons should be self-sustaining. Give these inmates a garden to look after, some animals to look after, eat the food they grow, etc. Rehabilitate them that way and also alleviate the burden of housing the criminals from the tax payer. Make them EARN their keep, while keeping the general public safe. For people like PB, RW, and MR if they must be in segregation, have them work at different times of the day by themselves!!!!

The prison on Vancouver Island gives inmates more opportunities to improve themselves ... garden, enjoy the ocean view, live commune style. I recall that Colin Thatcher requested permission to have his horse out there with him. I think that was initially approved, but later someone came to their senses ... not sure how that was resolved.

For hard core inmates like Bernardo and Williams, with multiple murders, rapes, crimes in their portfolio, they should not have access to anything that resembles a weapon - like a shovel. Rafferty is not like the other two ... with one offense ... so maybe over time he will be moved to a less restrictive cell or prison life where he can live commune style.

Yeah, he feels threatened by men, and knows he cannot manipulate them. And has alot of contempt for women, yet he apparently loved his mother very much and had a close relationship with her, however, that didn't stop him from manipulating her.

Pedophiles and sex offenders typically cannot be cured, but under the right circumstances and conditions, they can be re-assimilated into society. It happens all the time where rapists that don't commit murder are given shorter sentences and they're back on the street.

Bill C-30 isn't going to pass, not in the form it is now. There has already been very strong opposition to it, myself included, I'm all for catching pedophiles, but this bill, the way it was tabled, there was clear breach of canadian charter of rights and the bill had actually nothing to do with chatching pedos, and on top of that, it violates access to information act. Not to mention that the Minisiter Teows had no idea that the bill violates charter right because he didn't actually read it,

Rafferty is a violent pedophile sexual sadist! We didn't hear all the details of what he did to Victoria. Her death was not an easy death. It was a barbaric violence perpetrated on an innocent 8 year old girl.

Pedophiles cannot be rehabilited and put back in society, that's playing with fire.... JMO
