5/15/2012--Sentencing

apparently he meticulously catalogued his crimes and undies he stole and had them stored. Apparently Williams was described as OCD, hmmm bunking with messy MTR would be...a constant state of conflict. :fight:

bbm I didn't know that, wow guess now they are catalogued and stored by LE eh

I've heard these type of murderers take souveniers and I've thought that MR possibly did and TLM may not have known. If he did he probably destroyed it after the cass video came out or he's hidden it somewhere. Maybe he didn't take anything, but that came up for me so strongly a couple of weeks ago... seems like the type that would???

Does anyone have a link to LTM statement, video with Det. Smythe that was not edited for press. The jury saw something approximately 1 hour long.
Is this out there after the pub ban lifting for MR?

Found this transcript link but it is heavily edited (blacked out)

http://www.am980.ca/Other/McClinticVideoTranscript.pdf

you can google it and just add raw video TLM.....

hopefully they provide an unedited transcript as I could understand alot of what she said in the raw video

Sorry I am about a week behind due to massive OT at work.
Have been catching up in bits.

Got it. Watched the interview with Rodney and his mother. Oh, the pain!

headline:
Retired justice John Major criticizes kidnapping sentence bill as unnecessary
Pasted in:
OTTAWA—A former top judge said Tuesday a private member’s bill to require mandatory five-year jail terms for kidnappers of minors is unnecessary, saying Canadian judges have almost always treated child kidnappers even more harshly.

Interesting read.

I think when we were first sleuthing this we thought we had found a picture of him in a ballcap at the vigil. If we can access the old threads I will look for it later.

I posted about it back then max .. if that helps in your search at all. IIRC, it was a video taken at the vigil. I've searched, but can't come up with the old threads. I think they closed them when the trial was happening, so maybe the mods just need to unlock them or whatever it is they do with them now.

ETA: I recall that my post contained the actual "seconds" into the video too, if that helps, and yes, we had to click through frame by frame. I'm somewhat cursed here, as i'm having to use a mobile connection so can't zip around through videos like i used to due to the cost factor. :(

Interesting article by Christie Blatchford today.

Worth noting is that prosecutors were never trying to get all of this evidence before the jurors, only some of it. And when during the trial Rafferty’s character was put at issue by the defence (through a question which suggested he wasn’t the sort of fellow who, heaven forbid, would be interested in sex with a child), and prosecutors sought to have the matter re-opened, the judge would have none of it.

ummm I must have missed something or I dont watch enough of Charles Adler.

I actually like that interview that he had with RS and DG. Rodney was allowed to speak his mind and tell everyone what he though and he has that right. He held back what he really really wanted to say.

I am not a debater and I am not for or against the DP however there has to be more done when it actually comes to people like MR.

Maybe this is Canada's wake up call for people like him. Something needs to change and people like MR, PB and RW shouldnt be able to even enjoy the luxury of their 4x2ft room. You cant rehabilitate these vile monsters.

In my opinion I would make them go crazy. They get nothing, no 1hr a day in the sun, no showers, same food day in and day out, nothing at all in their cell but a rickety hard bed and like I said before a can to piss in. Make them go crazy.

If they are not going to give the DP then they should suffer as much as possible. These people should have no rights whatsoever. Boo hoo for them.

Canada needs to step up and stop giving these monsters anything. Maybe they will take their own life if they go crazy enough. JMO of course.

Yesterday was 48 hours evening. I missed the state but a guy received for 1st degree murder 51 years. ( That's what I call life)
2nd degree murder 15-25 years.
Both are without parole

Another thing I found randomly interesting:

On the FA thread, it said Tara's birthday was Oct. 27. I'm sure that I read somewhere that Rafferty's birthday was Oct. 26. I remember the date because when I was a teenager, my dog was killed (by a big dog) on Oct. 26, so I read his birthdate and thought, "Hmmm, not a good day all around."

Just noticed it. I know it's meaningless, but I still found it interesting.

When MR was being interrogated by the police and talked about TM and RS, I thought there was a familiarity in his voice and it made me wonder if he had feelings (romantic) toward TM. Since that time, now MR says he would only speak to TM regarding the crime.

TM didn't know MR, but he may have seen TM at Good Time Charlies, during a time when both were celebrating their birthdays, seeing that they are a day apart.

I don't believe this has anything to do with the murder, but just an observation and I think TM is a very pretty lady that MR would have hit on, had she not had a boyfriend.

MOO

It's like the puzzle pieces for defence of guilty client:

"As her lawyer spoke, Liard shifted her body and faced the jury with a sad expression on her face while her male accomplice looked dazed and concerned, staring straight ahead.

Grill said his client was probably guided by intense anxiety, fear, alcohol and marijuana.

In his closing remarks to the jury, Liard’s lawyer Daniel Brodsky said there was no eyewitness, confession or forensic evidence suggesting his client, Liard, was guilty of murder or even in LaSota’s bedroom when the killing took place."

Not the Dazed, Confused and Drugged story again! ... with the usual "I don't remembers" and lies.

http://www.thestar.com/news/crime/a...n-to-jury-in-defence-lawyer-s-closing-remarks

She wasn't in the bedroom, they say, but after luring the child she gave her to an older man; her boyfriend ... and the child was stabbed 37 times and beaten, but the accused woman did nothing because she and her couple accomplice claim that she didn't enter the bedroom? Why didn't she do anything? Is she completely stupid that when a child is being murdered in the bedroom, and she is in the hallway outside the bedroom, she cannot make the right choice? She was trying to make him like her and she was willing to do anything ... and now she needs to be put away for a long time for participating in that brutal murder "for kicks".

Would Rafferty ever have the guts to tell Victoria's mother that her daughter was murdered "for kicks"? That's what Rafferty and McClintic were up to that day ... getting off on hurting someone.

MR was obviously getting his sick sexual fantasies filled that day. It was obvious he premeditated and fantasized a little girls abduction and sexual assault for a long time. He had to find the right partner who would take the fall for him once he had his sick mind satisfied. I hope his sick thrill was not satisfied. I believe these two together would have continued on to abduct and murder more children but thank God they were caught.

I believe MR molested or excuse the expression "diddled" other womens' children and that wasn't enough for him, he wanted to move onto bigger sick thrill seeking experiences. I sincerely hoped he didn't harm any other children but sadly I believe he did. This was part of the reason why he was mad about Tori's age. He got away with sexually assaulting small children and none had "tattled" on him so he felt he was safe from being found out about. Maybe the plan was to take a very young girl and then somehow drop her off somewhere, but when MR realized Tori was too old and might be able to ID them or give a good description, he knew he had to get rid of her. I believe that is why there was the no preplanning in bringing along murder weapons and garbage bags and then the necessary stop at the ATM machine. Something tells me during the drive after MR got mad about Tori being too old, this being the reason he told TLM "we can't keep her and we can't take her back", he asked TLM if she would do the deed and what her choice of a murder weapon would be. That is partially why she ended up going into HD. I assume there is much to the conversation which went on between the two of them that we will never be privy to.

I hope they both get some sort of pay back while incarcerated. Just a wee tad bit of suffering and terror so they get a taste of what poor Tori went through. ALL MOHO.

IIRC I read a report which stated RW's collection was to be destroyed by incineration just like his uniforms. There would be no reason to keep these items once he had his case and was sentenced. MOO.

thanks for posting....what time was TLM picked up on April 12? This vigil was also, in the evening, on the same day.

April 12, 2009: McClintic is arrested on an outstanding warrant and interviewed by police about Tori. She says she knows nothing and is sent to Genest Detention Centre in London, Ont.

April 12, 2009: More than 1,000 people show up at a candlelight vigil for Tori in Woodstock.

Hundreds gather at candlelight vigil for Tori Stafford
05/19/2012 | Ashleigh Smollet, CityNews.ca

More than a thousand people gathered together in Woodstock Saturday night, to pay tribute to Victoria “Tori” Stafford.

Tori’s father Rodney Stafford and mother Tara McDonald released doves in her honour. Shortly after, the crowd released hundreds of purple balloons in the little girl’s favourite colour, purple.

A similar vigil was held in the same parking lot in 2009 just days after Tori went missing.

“To show this amount of support three years after, and to know that everybody came out because we got the justice is amazing. It feels really good,” said Rodney Stafford.

“It’s touching the heart really bad. And thank you Woodstock”
