If anyone of us said what he said at our places of employment and it was heard by many beleive me we would be fired..I see no differnce with Imus the Jerk.

The only difference I could see is that he is doing his job by being shocking. That's what he's paid to do. He just stepped too far over the line with this remark.

Not that I condone it. As I've posted ad nauseum, I detest the whole shock jock genre.

I watch Imus every morning as I get my granddaughter ready for school. He can say tasteless things and sometimes he speaks without thinking. Like the morning he said this about the basketball team. Someone else said something first and it was like he just picked up on it and off he went. He probably was slapping himself inside as soon as he said it.

I hate Al Sharpton and almost feel the same toward the other one (I can't believe I've forgotten his name:doh: ) Thay are like snakes. Waitng to pounce. Once they've set you in their sights you're a gonner. I imagine them sitting together, tapping their shoes. waiting for someone to screw up. However, I Don't see them saying anything about the stripper who lied on the Duke Lacrosse players. I think they should be saying something about this.

I assume you mean Jesse Jackson BeeBee?

To me where Imus made his mistake was in calling some innocent girls "nappy headed ho's" instead of realizing he was actually describing Jesse Jackson.

Regardless, you just can't go around getting people fired because you don't like what they've got to say. Just don't listen. That's the beauty of being a free nation.

The ONLY reason Imus got fired is because advertisers were pulling out of the shows (both MSNBC and the radio)... it's the advertisers who shut him down, not the people with morals (ha!) at any of the stations.

I only saw Imus a few times - the news is awful enough without the stupid remarks. I thought the suspension was adequate because it put everyone on notice. I really like knowing who these bigots are and where they are. Firing him will not take the hate away, it is still there and that's the sad part. Hate on both sides. black and white.

I was waiting for Greta and had to get through Hannity. He did say something that impressed me - the team, the girls accepted Imus's apology.

Exactly.

Personally, I could stand listening and watching Imus for about the same length of time that I can tolerate Howard Stern, but that is why televisions and radios come equipped with mechanisms which change the stations.

It is also why message boards have a variety of subject matter from which to choose, how exactly, we decide to spend our time and it is also why we are offered the ability to use an 'ignore button'.

If we listen to it, watch it, or read it, IT IS OUR CHOICE and OUR DECISION to do so. The only person that we can hold accountabe for having done so, is our own selves. We are the individuals who have chosen to PAY our US Dollars to purchase access to cable television, satelite radio and the internet. We buy the books, magazines and newspapers. We are the individuals who have chosen to purchase the products advertised on radio, television and in internet ads which support programing that we choose not to listen to, to read about or to watch.

In a country that, not only respects 'freedom of speech', but protects it with its Constitution, I am thankful for all of these "Built-IN Mechanisms" which help us maintain our 'balance'.

If we do not like it: we can turn it down; we can mute it; we can change the station; we can hit the ignore button, we can turn it off, and we can 'not buy it' or we can take a xanax and try to find something worthy of our time and efforts in the morning.

God Bless America, Land of the Free and only slightly impaired...

May We Forever Stand Strong and Proud.....

About the 3,000 a night per child..you need to factor in that it is a working ranch so care and feed for horses, etc is factored in...large animal maintenance is a huge expense...............food, safety and because these children have special needs, they have to have trained personnel with them at all times and medical equipment...that is where much of the money goes I believe....the link below explains a lot
