A view from the inside: observations from our own court observers #2

just like the CA case, this trial is a perversion of justice. sorry- the judge has no control over the courtroom; the defense is in total control. it is absurd.

It may appear otherwise but in person Juan Martinez owns that courtroom. Just my observation.

I'm so glad to hear you say that. I am about at the end of my proverbial rope.
Things I can't stand any more of:
The sight of the fat roll on the back of Squirmy's head.
"Jazz" Face giving us the finger.
That herpe simplex on its lip that IT deserves.

I think the 100 questions are astounding. What was the courtroom reaction to that?
TIA Katie and All!

I completely agree. This Judge has allowed testimony and evidence in that should have never been allowed. Plus she has allowed the Defense to get away with an absurd amount of testimony that was irrelevant to this MURDER CASE and intentionally delaying the trial. The trial should have already been over with, however with short court days, only having court maybe 3 days a week, sometimes 4 days due to whatever excuse; wasting the taxpayers of Arizona's money by dragging this case out for months. In doing so, this torments & holds the family of Travis in emotional limbo, their lives on hold for an overextended period of time. It's like the court is punishing Travis and his family. The judge has given the Defense free reign over this court with the excuse that it's a Death Penalty Case. Just because it's a SP case doesn't mean you don't have order & control of your courtroom. I have NO respect for the way this Judge is running this trial.

it is thoroughly disgusting!

Katie(s), Pasa and those who have been in court - quick question before you leave and if you don't know, can you try to evaluate this today!

Yesterday I was again struck at the magical powers of the finger! The camera shows it to us, quite well. Can the jury see her hand on the telethon when she is pointing to exhibits like this pic below?

I do understand that the defense is granted a lot of leeway when the DP is on the table BUT it appears this judge has gone too far in the other direction. Wonder what locals who elected her are thinking.:waitasec:

Katie, I appreciate your observation in the courtroom. The rest of us out here are just beside ourselves. I think that you have grown close to the family and you are being positive for the right outcome. I love Juan Martinez but I see in other cases, and especially CA, that the jury always looks for a reason to let a person go free. It shocks me. I will be over the top happy if she is convicted of 1st degree murder and I believe JM has done an excellent job! BUT....the judge has not controlled the courtroom, she allowed JA to ramble and confuse the issues, to argue with the prosecutor, and JA's family to disrespect the victim and his family. There is NO justice in any of that. So...we will see. I have no doubt Juan's rebuttal will be fantastic and I think we all agree she is a menace, a predator and a killer. But we are not the jury. I am not confident in anything except my own opinion that I would convict her.

We do not elect judges in Maricopa County. There is a lengthy merit selection process that ends with appointment by the governor.

Every year, a group of judges is up for potential removal on the ballot, but it never happens. Maybe once, IIRC.

I am confident that Lady Justice is alive and well in that courtroom. And she will swing her scales creating a wave that carries Jodi Arias straight in to Death Row.

A News Junkie...I don't know exactly the view of the jurors closest to her but I doubt they see all those hand movements as her chair is WAY low and they are angled quite a bit away from her. But I"ll check it out today.

Thanks Katiecoolady!!!!! Especially look if a witness points to a document on the screen. If so, they might be getting a look at that natural finger. The more I watch, the more convinced I am that she cripples it for broken effect.

AZ- if you are still around, can the jury ask to see her hand to look for a knife scar? Just curious.

Katiecoolady, Watch her when she takes a drink. IMO, it's not normal. She picks up her water cup ALWAYS with her left hand, rotates her hand/wrist and arm in order to expose her fingers so they are facing forward as if she's trying let the jury see her fake bent finger.

well after everything i read - l like your answers the best - so i am just going to stick w/ what you say :great:

She just mouthed something to herself and she's sitting at the defense table by herself. Any lip readers out there - did you catch that????!!!!! They are all standing with the judge. (1:41 est)

Thank you Katie for all of your insight! My skin crawls when I think of her out amoung people again.

Thank you to all the brave and patient folks that have been able to tolerate sitting in the courtroom with the Jodi Beast and nice enough to report back to us.

I would have been thrown out of court because I would never have been able to keep
my composure.

When ja touches the monitor screen on the stand her hands don't show on the jumbo-tron or other big screens in the courtroom. An arrow shows up where her Finger is pointing .

The hands show up when something is shown on the overhead that Juan and the defense use.

HTH

Please excuse typos etc. typing on iPad. :-).

Welcome to Websleuths!

I feel confident the jury will convict her.
