a view from the inside: observations from our own court observers #6

ALV testified that she gave JA several books and even purchased a magazine subscription for JA to read 'because jail is boring.' Did ALV actually pay for these out of her own pocket or did she turn in the receipts so that the taxpayers had to pay for them?

Probably us taxpayers. :(

Hello! Very new, though I have been following and I appreciate everyone's insights and the inside courtroom posts. Quick question, what was it that the judge admonished ALV for reading? I missed that one, and could not find it in the videos. Thanks!

She was either reading ja's journal or text messages of ja and Travis. She was supposed to be looking at the paper to refresh her memory and then answer the question. Instead she was reading from the paper and got caught. She told the judge she wasn't reading. The judge told her she saw her reading and not to do it again. (paraphrased)

Welcome to WS!!

My guess is it was caught on one of the other cameras. It isn't showing up on that particular footage. I'm betting it's still on the other camera card.

I figured it out! Thanks

Been reading some rumors that we are paying for Arias family housing etc... Absolutely untrue. I have never met the Arias family, and neither I -- nor my production company -- has paid or promised them anything. Robin and I are praying for the Alexander family.

Glad to hear but why are his producers there at trial right or not?

I'm delighted to hear that ALV. Is being exposed. Poor Alexander family.

A couple things that have bothered me since Thursday:

ALV going up and talking to Samantha...so wrong...it doesn't matter what she said...as everyone says, this "expert" crossed boundaries, and she, of all people should have had the where with all to know better.

ALV reading Travis's statement to Jodi "You have hurt me more than the day my father died" like she was reading the side of a milk carton that had no consequence at all. And then she goes on to say he is the worst abuser ever? There is a special section in hell for people like her.:furious:

It's bad enough that she ran Travis through the mud, slime and dreck that Jodi's life form leaves behind....but when she drug out the names of women he dated, texted, talked with, looked at, passed by, were in a book club together, yadayadayada....it was too much.:what:

the fact that Jodi actually used the word "nay" in her writings...seriously? Is she 11 with unusual strength in her arms to slaughter people? Here in the south we would say "Oh look, that little girl talks funny but has really strong arms...bet she could kill someone with the right weapons....Bless Her Heart. She does look a little tetched in the head though, must be from her Uncle Bubba's side.:blushing:

I'm tired....need to rest up for the attack that JM is planning for Monday.
Really counting on you Mr. Martinez, to make it so this poor man can rest in peace and that his lovely, loving family can celebrate his life and mourn his loss as they should.

And for all of you lovely ladies, and gentlemen, that attend the proceedings to see that Justice for Travis is done...thank you for all that you do.I have watched so many trials...going back to the Kennedy cousin (Smith) rape trial...(blue dot trial) and I am always excited when justice is served...but even more so when hearing the first hand observations from people who are there. Thank you all...you are all awesome.:seeya:

I'm sorry. I didn't think you were being snarky. I apologize if it seemed so or if I seemed that way. We have quite a few homeless here as well.

Sitting near him and seeing who he was with (she appeared to be ok) I didn't feel they were homeless or street people.

One evening another WSer and I were walking back to the parking lot just afer dark and there was a little homeless man in his sleeping bag just off the sidewalk. I felt sad for him.

Oh nooo...

PASA... You didn't seem snarky at all!

after I read my post I was afraid of the way my post may have sounded!

All's good!

I guess I am just getting paranoid that the DT is going to vote me off the island... Er... Ahem.... WS! Tee! Hee!

Oh I'm so glad. I was worried. With hubby home and other stuff going on try to hurry and post. I end up sounding short, which I don't mean to do.
It's all good in the 'hood. :)

Glad to hear but why are his producers there at trial right or not?

I didn't know there were producers from Dr Phil's show at the trial. That's interesting, especially if he says his show is not involved with the trial, so to speak.

Speaking of Beth, I just followed up with an email about the ALV boundary violation yesterday. Also Steve Kucj who did the ABC story. I want this ironic behavior exposed. This kind of abuse to victims goes unchecked ALL the time. Maybe since Sam is a police officer they think she's "tougher". She still is entitled to FULL RIGHTS of a Victim.

===============================
I have been tweeting to HLN TH's and posting on the pundits' Facebook pages the following since yesterday. This one went to Jon Lieberman. I have asked to be retweeted and many tweeples have.

Jon, whenever I know you are scheduled for HLN or CNN, I make sure to tune in. Your commentary is much akin to how many of us Travis Alexander supporters feel.

I have a few questions and remarks to express on the Travis Alexander murder trial, and am hoping you will be able to offer insight and/or comments on them.

Are you aware that during a break from her 04/04/2013 testimony, expert witness LaViolette made a beeline for one of Travis' sisters, & spoke to her unbidden? What gives her that right? Did she not violate one of the victims' rights statute? Is that contact condoned by law during an active trial? Morally & ethically, LaViolette's action was an invasion and assault of Travis' grieving family's space. That abusive action alone tells me that LaViolette is selfish and self-serving, much like her client. No self control. It seems to say,"it's all about me, me, me."

The DEFENSE Team, including their x-pert witnesses, is out of control. They are silly and vindictive and repeatedly comport themselves in an unprofessional manner. The sneers, the nose picking, mini foot stamping tantrums, sighs & snorts of displeasure by whomever is conducting the direct or cross, the mitigation specialist giggling like a schoolgirl with the defendant and passing notes from defendant to gallery and visa versa. I have ONLY referenced several of many eyebrow raising acts which clearly shows me and the public that the DTeam have total disregard and lack of respect for the Court, Jury and Travis Alexander, the victim of the brutal slaughter executed by Jodi Arias.

The taxpayers' of Arizona have thus far shelled out more than 1.4 million dollars for the defense while the defendant, or an agent of the defendant is deriving income from the sale of her sketches on EBay. Should not that money be put towards paying back the Arizona taxpayer? Why is the confessed murderer getting a free ride? What an affront to the decent, hardworking people of Arizona.

Would you please explain why LaViolette was allowed to testify about Travis' behavior from childhood to his murder even though she never interviewed anyone, other than the self confessed liar and murderer? Why would LaViolette not interview people who also know Travis in order to gain a clearer, unbiased picture of the Alexander family and the murdered man himself? Yes, his parents abused the children through neglect, however, living with his loving grandmother and becoming a part of the LDS community surely had a positive impact upon him.

Popular opinion on twitter & facebook & crime forums clearly show that Juan Martinez is on track with his "style" of examination. I, and they, do NOT feel he is too aggressive in his approach. The defense strategy is a sham and that is as clear as a boil on someone's face. I have not heard any pundit shed light on the defense team's lack of decorum and immature antics. Because the defense's expert witnesses are defiant and knowingly biased in the defendant's favor, Juan M. has to PRY, no, is FORCED to separate the FACTS from fiction. To date, Juan M. has been successful in bringing forth the truth from the hostile witnesses. In the end, it is not the so called theatrics and tears and play acting that will bring a 1st degree premeditated verdict, it will be the FACTS & TRUTH.

After. The Nurmi-ALV love fest was at the end of the day. The ALV illegal approach to Sam was just before the afternoon break.

Yep, making perfect sense.

HTH
Do You think Nurmi and co. put her up to it to get a mistrial??

ITA. I don't think what he said to her was that mean in light of her stalking, and other predatory behaviors towards Travis. Even if a man cheats on you, doesn't give you the right to sneak into his house and sleep there or go into his girlfriend's house!!!

I think there was WAAAAY more to it than Jodi making up some woman who allegedly came into the restaurant to tell her that Travis was dating Lisa. WAAAY more. He knew something about her and he was going to expose her because she had played too many games with him. He wouldn't have gotten that angry about her knowing about Lisa. She knew about Lisa because she followed him, hacked into his accounts, slashed their tires, and who knows what else. Did she steal some money from him? Did she do something even worse? She did SOMETHING, and he was calling her bluff on her stupid lies. He was going to tell other people what he knew about what Jodi did if she didn't come clean. She was playing him like a fiddle and, no doubt, enjoyed the drama.

Sometimes it's not WHAT a person is saying so much as HOW they are saying it. Text messages won't necessarily convey that, but Travis knew that her ostensible calmness and attempts to soothe him were only surface words that were loaded full barrel at his buttons. HE knew HOW she was saying (or NOT saying) things, without needing to hear it out loud. Her games wouldn't be as apparent to someone who didn't know BOTH of them and how they interacted with each other.

My favorite part of the day was when he got her to repeat, very loudly, that she couldn't comment on whether Snow White was a battered woman because she knew nothing of the relationship between her and the prince. She is so busted. She didn't even know Travis and is only relying on Jodi's word that he was awful, yet everyone else who knew him says he was a wonderful person.

Please rip her apart Juan. Please please please.

Me too MeeBee!! I loved that! ... JM had continued on with what he was saying, but then didn't he kinda stop, and say "what was that"...and ALV repeated her statement?!

But as soon as ALV she said that "she couldn't comment on that b/c she never met the prince", I knew that's where JM was going with that... It was awesome... It's been bugging me that she could speak about Travis having never met him...

I think she knows exactly what the internet & email is. It's just a way to manipulate the jury into believing her pose as the endearing Grandmotherly type (i.e: vulnerable & truthful). Vomiteria!

MOO :moo: MOO
BBM

She most certainly does, and I'll join you in calling BS. For cryin' out loud, she mentioned several times that her Snow White opus is on . . . youtube!

That's what's called FAIL, Alyce. Get used to it.

So happy (understatement!) to hear there's a good chance video of the ALV boundary busting incident with Samantha can be found!

I suppose it can be considered one of my many character flaws, but I have always relished a righteous take-down of someone who so richly deserves it. I love watching masks ripped off, frauds exposed. This <unusual person> has triggered me bad and I am positively giddy in anticipation of Monday. Thursday was just the warm-up.

Know this, Alyce: The Man, he is coming. The Man is coming, for YOU.

Yes! He has done that before, where a witness says something stupid and incriminating and he kind of goes, "huh? What was that, again?" You know he heard it, he just wants to make sure everyone hears it again.

I think if the defense team was smart, they would have had ALV limit her testimony to how Jodi's behavior is indicative of BWS (kind of like the CA experts did). She in fact hardly ever mentioned Jodi and went on and on and on and on about Travis. At some point, the jury is going to clue in to the fact that this is just victim bashing, and over the top victim bashing, at that. They took every single word and alleged action of his and made it into this act of terrible abuse. There is no allowing for context. She never even tried to interview Travis' friend, family, and exes to try to understand the man better. ALV has this dead man all figured out. If I am a juror, I am a little suspicious of all this. It's too much. And how are they jury supposed to now believe that this womanizing cad was ALSO a pedophile? Are they hoping that they are stupid?

I've already quoted you on this one MeeBee but I just can't help myself...I have to quote you again! TOOO funny. I'm sure she still doesn't "get it"! The rolling on the floor guy symbol is not coming up but it's what I would like to insert here.

LOL, double quoted! I'm flattered!

I love it, Panther. That one little line basically negated her entire testimony and her opinion. Juan will still rip her apart, I hope, but the fact that she admitted she cannot comment on the nuances of a relationship because she doesn't know anything about one of the parties (the Prince, Travis...)...my god, that's crazy. She just served that right up. Juan barely had to do anything.

I am wondering if MAYBE she played him part of the phone-sex tape and threatened to send it to Mimi or the PPL bosses or his Bishop. I think that would have elicited that 16 page tirade.
