Thanks, Pasa! I'll be hanging on the thread awaiting your next post. I appreciate that you post just when we need some fresh info to chew over!

I'm intrigued by your conversation with the ladies from Yreka. That's a long way to travel!

They said a relative was moving, and they came down to help and attend trial. They were leaving the next day.

I wish I'd had more time to talk to them. They didn't know ja, but with it being a small town they know someone who knows someone.
The thing that freaked me out was that ja was their server at Casa Ramos after she'd murdered Travis. If I recall correctly, they said they didn't know about the murder at the time. It wasn't big news up there (I suppose) until
ja was arrested.

If you watch the feed they are shown sitting behind JA's mother in the morning session, I think? One of the ladies has a rolling walker thingy. It's in the aisle next to her. There are 3 of them. I am guessing daughter, mother, grand-mother.

Also, is it possible JA got to view the "Snow White" lecture video? Seems like she must have since she drew that sketch of Snow White with a black eye. Or maybe LaV gave JA her own personal presentation - that doesn't seem proper since LaV was supposed to be there to evaluate, not treat or conduct therapy of any kind. I think that some of the 40+ hours LaV spent with JA were spent "teaching" JA about DV so that JA could figure out what events she could make up or embellish to try to fit the DV profile. I can't see LaV spending most of the 40+ hours asking questions and listening- she likes to talk too much for that.

I honestly think she did watch it and I do wonder if the linebacker lunge she did in court was not having seen LaV do it so many times in the video (see my video below - last scene) that that is what came natural to do???? How odd the bow looks just like the jodi lunge!

Going off your narcissism comment earlier, i.e., that she fits the profile, I think this is the reason she might have agreed to do it.

Just two short weeks ago, AVL was a big fish in a medium pond. Now, tens of millions of people all over the world know her name. This trial is televised and I believe she had to know that it would be on par with the OJ trial and the CA trial in so far as infamy.

Oh I agree with you, she definitely knew how big this trial was since I believe she had been watching before she took the stand. If I remember correctly at the beginning of her direct Wilmott asked her if she had a practice back home. Her answer was something like "yes and hopefully it would still be there when I returne" and then she smirked. I think this was in reference to Dr. Samuels and the beating he got from Martinez, so she definitely was watching/reading to know this. Can't wait for Martinez to do the same to her which I know he will!

PASA - your leg shaving wasn't completely in vain. If your legs (bare??) were caught on camera, we would have known....

I always wear long pants. But, I have to pull up my pant legs when I go through security. Don't want the security guys to have to see hairy legs. LOL!!
I guess they are checking to see if I have an ankle holster. :)

One thing I noted in her testimony about her credentials was that's shed received lots of awards. When she was questioned from where her only response was the battered women's shelter she's worked for years. What was that? Employee of the Month? A bit weak.

That would be my guess. House-mother of the month, BS story-teller of the month. We can add testi-liar of the month, I'm going to award that one to her myself. :)

I really wonder if when ALV agreed to testify in this case she saw it as some kinda windfall as she's never really made much money, it seems. Look at Henry Lee, heck even Dr. $amuels. When professionals sometimes reach a certain age they want to retire and they will throw their career under the bus to go working for defense attorneys. Maybe they are tired, afraid of financial issues w retirement, want to try something new, who knows. What's for certain is the big bucks are in defense work as evidenced by $amuels own website.

I think the X factor here is ALV had no idea when she took the case how huge this trial would be. If not for the cameras and enormity of this trial her behavior would go unchecked. It probably already has in other cases. But now instant karma is biting her back.

In addition, I bet she hoped the proximity of the trial to the release of her newest edition of her book would help with sales of said book.

She should have been formally and publicly sanctioned. Let's compare: Juan Martinez getting a few pics w taxpayers one time on the courthouse steps outside the view of any jurors to a defense witness testifying vile and horrible things about the victim, then walking right off the stand to the grieving family, violating their boundaries uninvited and getting in their face.

Which of these needed a public hearing and formal sanctions on the record?

Another example of how murderer's rights trump victims over and over again.

I know the cameraman in the courtroom all the way back to,Scott Peterson. He likes me. I'm gonna ask him Monday if there is any footage.

No kidding! Juan is surprised by a media camera outside the courtroom. He is asked for a couple of autographs, and has maybe 4 or 5 photos taken with trial watchers. He goes his way, they go theirs. It's front page news and according to LKN grounds for a mistrial.

I hope ALV is punished to the fullest extent of the law. Whatever it may be, for doing what she did. She acts like she can do whatever she likes. I am woman hear me roar doesn't suit her and she needs to knock it off.

I would like to see it on every news station how ALV asked for early break and made a beeline for family member of the victim who is also a victim and continues to be victimized. It infuriates me.

After Alyce testified that first day, I sort of liked her. I now retract that feeling.

Frankly, I think she's such a narcissist that she thinks she's going to enlighten all of us dullards in the world and save Jodi's life in the process.

I also don't think that she has any idea how big this trial is. This is a person that doesn't "use the email" or the internet. My 85 year old grandfather emails and surfs the web all day long!

Alyce is happy living in her 70's Brady Bunch world where she gladly would accuse Mike Brady of abusing Carol if he ate the last of Alice's meatloaf and didn't share.

I've not liked her from the get-go. I don't know why or what it was about her early on. I just felt she was bad ju-ju.

My 86 year old dad also emails and uses the internet. Granted I have to help him with some tech stuff, but he manages pretty well for his age.

Great post, btw. I agree with you 100%.

Obviously, now we know why ALV loves JA....they both know no boundaries.

And obviously, not much empathy.

I am confused at how long ALV has been peddling her stuff. Who buys into that hardcore feminist stuff anymore? DID she make a career for herself by volunteering? Abuse hotline anyone?

You know I bet she even got Volunteer of the Year! :rocker:

Most of us weren't buying the hardcore feminist stuff back in the 70's. It was a group of women like her who were beating that drum. MOO

Thanks Kattrca... Saw the "hug"...

Is it just me... Or does it look like JA is developing jowls? :waitasec:

And no clue, the way all her friends are coddling her like w"what a great thing she is doing". I'm just so put off by her, words can not form for me to actually express it. I will rely on KCL and Pasa for that, their better at orating.

I notice the marshall is in his uniform rather than a suit, and comment that he's in uniform today. He told me he had some other duties that day. I said well you look good either way. :) He's very nice and professional. I like him.

Which one is he, the blonde or the darker haired man? The blonde is a sweetheart who "found" me a seat when I was the last in line for the am session. The darker haired...well...hubba hubba! They were both in suits that day.

I really wonder if when ALV agreed to testify in this case she saw it as some kinda windfall as she's never really made much money, it seems. Look at Henry Lee, heck even Dr. $amuels. These are my thoughts exactly, especially the underlined (UBM) portion. I think THIS is why she was so terrified to testify.

Don't know..didnt see any hug.

It happened right after the 2:55 break she requested, after the jury was escorted out. Then she made a direct line straight for Samantha sitting there alone. Predatory?

The hug was at the end of the day. The cameras were on for a moment or two (focused on Tri-color, mostly), and ALV hugged and giggled with Nurmi, then sauntered off with the two women from the second row who cackled so incredibly loudly when ALV asked JM "Are you mad at me?". It still makes me angry the JSS let them stay after that deplorable courtroom behavior. Birds of a feather, them and ALV.:furious:

There is an odor around me, and it's not good. I wonder if D's aroma could float back 3 rows? More on what it was later. :)

Another sidebar- I look over to media side and see Bill, Dr. Drew's producer. He smiles and waves at me. He's a sweetheart.
:floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh: PASA, you slay me. Love how you keep it real, love your "color" commentary lol.
Oh, and love the shout out to Bill. He really is a sweetheart.

MOO.

I agree... I was offended by the way ALV's friends rallied around her like she made a final score at an athletic event...

So disrespectful!

I agree that Alyce LaViolette has done a lot of damage to advocacy of victims of domestic violence, but keep in mind the damage done is caused by one thing: An ideological adherence to a very narrow bias where men are the perpetrators of domestic violence and women are the victims, by definition.

In fact, since the subject of her Snow White presentation was on some sort of gender-based power imbalance where, by their very nature men are abusers and women are abused, she's not doing much service to either gender. She's all about bigotry against men, but also in equal measure, making sure women know they are not only without power, but without power almost by their very nature. (Edit: For the dense, I completely reject that and consider women to be fully functional adult human beings).

Look, a lot of the "recovery movement" makes a lot about powerlessness, making sure that people who have any sort of problem are without power. They need a cure. Like a bad infomercial product, by drilling into people that they are powerless, they create the very problem and then provide the cure. I would be totally not surprised to learn that the decade long gap between her Bachelors Degree and Masters was caused by some sort of dependency. No one spouts that much Alcoholics Anonymous and Recovery Movement drivel without being recruited through having their own issues.

So, perhaps the money is a factor, but don't sell LaViolette short: The woman is a hard-core ideologue with a slew of her own issues, palpable contempt for men, patronizing towards women and no doubt a Danse Macabre of skeletons in her own closet.

oooohhhh! love the reference to Stephen King there at the end...AND totally agree with your points! My husband and I watched her Snow White presentation and where absolutely appalled at how stuck in the late 60's...not even the 70's she was...and we also have noticed her constant referral to recovery (sort of like JVM does on her show every night) The gap between her BS and masters does make sense there...:rocker:

LOL - are you and Brooke reading my post I was trying to write in a logical way? Here is what I had so far, but I will just toss it out now as this is exactly what I was wanting to point out and discuss too!

(Warning - not proofed or polished post ahead!)
AL knew something about the past testimony when wilmont asked her (to get it out of the way) if she had any memory issues - she chuckles a knowing chuckle and says no. So, is defense counsel discussing the case with her and past behaviors? (Also see post 1028 by Brooke!)

SAME STYLE OF ANSWERING BETWEEN AL AND JODI:
AL parrots jodi (or jodi learned the snarl from AL in the 44 hours)

  • AL confronts Juan about "are you mad at me" and 'address me in the same tone I address you'
jodi "when men like you and Travis"

-----------------> watching the footage to me this line was planned as was even the lean on chin look from AL. Right before AL leans on her chin - wilmont does the same as if to que AL to do that to Juan. Is it mirroring or the game plan. It also appeared AL was given signals from MSpec and/or friends to deliver that line.

  • AL mentions not being able to follow Juan the way he words question.
jodi - to Juan - you talk in circles.

Refuses to answer yes or no (both did this)

jodi stared down the family.
AL actually approached SAM and spoke to her. BOTH rubbing salt in the wounds. Despicable (&)(^*()#W!

Juan was masterful (and I hope he gets to fully complete the thought) on the Snow White line of questioning. He was clearly (to me anyway!) making the connection for the jury that with AL continuum you can make Snow White, Alice from Alice in Wonderland, or many characters from fairy tales - battered women. Thus, the continuum is so broad and ill refined as to an effective tool for making a determination - and can be used on people or characters one has never met to make a sweeping accusation of abuse. Yet, somehow AL doesn't see that jodi is her continuum to the lethal degree of murdering.

Further, based on the objections and eye rolls the Snow White is hot spot for AL and the defense team so there is more there than maybe even we know! JMHO.

Juan also made the point that since the continuum was made up by her she can change it anytime it suits her. Like Dr S changing his scores to make PTSD fit.

KCL, re ALV; what do you think her motivation is for putting it all on the line for this murdering sociopath? I mean, all the years of standing up for abused women and exposing injustice, etc. So why in the world would she take this position and dig in so deeply for it? She had to have been talked to by COUNTLESS people in her field warning her, discouraging her, yet still - here she is. I myself have no idea, it makes no sense.

She wanted to promote her new book
and top up her retirement fund? :waiting: :sheesh:
