A view from the inside: observations from our own court observers

Okay don't mean to be rude. But this Donavan person is a woman right? Wasn't she in jail with Arias? Weren't both in jail with Arias at one point or another? Campbell of course looks female but with Donavan....you just cannot tell.

Don't feel bad. Not to be rude, but I sat behind her and honestly thought she was a man. I don't mean it in a snarky way at all.

One would think. Ever see the movie "Runaway Jury"? Might change your mind.

We are talking about Jodi, not some high official who is on trial that the attorney is afraid of, or a large amount of money involved. This person was in jail with Jodi, I believe. Wonder if the State will ever charge them? jmo

I'll say here what I said yesterday so all of the other courtroom observers I talked to (including the defense attorney, Bill Dr. D's producer and Beth K): "There are jurors on that panel who are relieved that Juan Martinez is coming out aggressively at this vicious murderer because they've been waiting for this confrontation just like we have". Everyone nodded their head in agreement. Maybe not all [/I]of those jurors but some of them already have a full handle on this sociopath so there could be some who found him too soft actually.

BBM

I think the others will come around. :) She can't keep her evil side hidden from Juan.

OMG!!! (Underlined twice) Guy snoring behind me! WTH?! I tapped him but he didn't wake up. I don't have any hand sanitizer & there's no potty breaks, no leaving the courtroom til breaks! Per bailiff!

*So the guy behind me was doubled over, sleeping hard and snoring LOUD! Later, I found out that you could hear him in the back row. I turned to see if someone was really snoring and the four women seated to his left were all looking at him, annoyed. I mouthed, "Is he SLEEPING?!" and they nodded yes and I mouthed "WAKE HIM UP!" (I'm super bossy, fyi.) They looked nervous and we had been warned to make NO noise, no disruption or we would be out and not allowed back in. I turned to my right (I was at the end) and started swatting his leg. He didn't even stir. The lady next to him shook his arm, I guess and woke him up. Jodi's friends noticed (D and friend) they had turned as well. Before he woke up, I touched the girlfriend's arm to ask her to get the deputy's attention. I couldn't hear and I was PIZZED! Anyway, when she turned, he had already awoken so I mouthed "nevermind". (More to come)*

Jodi is watching her attys as they look over the journal entry. The first time I've seen her gaze out and not down.

Do sociopaths/psychopaths usually journal? It seems like such an introspective thing to do.

Now she's got glasses on, but not using them to read? :waitasec:

Anita, you were terrific on Dr Drew! I never watch it but wanted to catch your segment and you did great! Your notes are great too!! Thank you!

Tricolor's head snaps back and forth at the "poprocks & tootsie pop" comment. I think she's a hairdresser.

Jodi's friends go "HMPH!" loud @ the p.r. & t.p.

Gotta ask The Other Katie re: she told me that Donovan and her girlfriend were Jodi's "jail friends", they are allowed out of jail every day to come see the trial. (This was in the morning, before court.) I asked her then how that could be possible and she said "criminals have rights" lol. Anyway, D and friend are in street clothes, matching shirts. D is in a mint green and her girlfriend's top accents it with mint green/pink/yellow/cream stripes.

The cute court report looks at Jodi a lot. I love his expressions on tv, I can see them in the courtroom, too. Her affect seems to be more theatrical in real life than on tv, you can really tell she is putting on an act.

WTH is she reading? Homer's Odyssey?!

Ann Campbell was Jodi cellmate who has been released, I believe. No attorney would be involved with witness tampering. jmo
I don't think Ann Campbell was a cellmate. The cellmate is Donavan's ladyfriend. Donavan's ladyfriend has long dark hair. The ladyfriend has been in court with Donavan. From what I have read on another board Ann Campbell said she worked for a well known law firm, but did not say she was a lawyer.

You had me LOL about the sleeper. I'm not brave enough to do what you did to try and wake him up. Hat's off to you. :)

What I noticed yesterday (since you brought it up) about Jodi and her journal is she fondled and looked at it like it was a long lost friend. When
she had to hand it back she would hesitate.

It's hard for me to explain, but on the tape it's very obvious to me that she wished she could hold on to that journal.

Excellent court reporting, btw.. can't wait to read the next installment, but just had to comment on the journal. :)

I just want to say for the record that the camera adds 50 lbs and 15 years. I am actually 100 lbs and 28 years old! ;) I haven't seen it, just heard it and I'm mortified that I used the word "disseminate" when I meant "dissect"! But in my defense, I had JUST MET BETH KARAS and my head was spinning!

Thank you for the compliments! You guys are easing my discomfort! :seeya:

Wow. Seriously? I'd be peeved if my taxes were going toward jail friend field trips.

PASA! I don't know if you saw that I sent out a message looking for you (I was looking at all of the spectators and was hoping you were one of them), but I couldn't find the thread again on tapatalk. :( Katie told me you couldn't make it.

Omigosh, when she saw the journal and JM said, "Do you recognize this?" and she said, "You bet I do!" or whatever she said with enthusiasm, I agree, she really feels connected to that journal. I agree that she wished she could hold onto it.

No, I figured out quickly that she was misinformed about it. Donovan WAS in jail, but has been released. I'm curious to know what she was in for. :what:

Some sort of arson... along with her lady friend.

Edit: Not with lady friend

BBM - You know I have theory that people like Jodi and Casey Anthony probably connected more to their journals than actual people. It's like a friend they confide in who never judges them or puts them down. Since we know sociopaths can't bond with other human beings, they bond with their journals and see them as part of themselves maybe, and probably care more about them than most.

I was shocked to see that you were such a little lady. I remember worrying about you when you were walking around the back ally of the Celis house last year. You are a brave lady!

You did a great job! I would have been too nervous to even croak out a word. So cool that you met Beth K. She is my fave.

Arson. I can't find out what, if any, outcome was. But here's the arrest article.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office arrested three people on suspicion of arson in connection with a late May blaze at a Sun City West dental office.

One of the suspects named was Sara Byron, a co-owner of Dental Impressions Family Dentistry, according to arson investigators. Byron, 46, was arrested and booked on one count of arson of an occupied structure and attempted fraud schemes.

The other two suspects have been identified as Donavan Bering, 45, and Zachary Proctor, 20. They each were booked on one count of arson of an occupied structure, according to Sheriff's deputies.

HOLY COW and THANK GOD! I thought the judge meant for her to read the ENTIRE transcript (for the past 3+ weeks) not just the entire transcript for that day!

FOJ (Friends/Family of Jodi) sent the deputy a note about sleeping guy. They are PIZZED! I would be, too. Even though she doesn't seem to be taking this very seriously, the fact is their friend and daughter/neice is on trial for her LIFE and some cretin is SNORING in the gallery! Disrepectful. Also, I'm glad that their anger/ire is now obviously directed at someone else because Donovan noticed me trying to eavesdrop on her conversation with her girlfriend and now they're cupped hand whispering and writing notes. (I don't mean to be rude, I just want to bring back as much info for my peeps, here!)

Judge just gave Nurmi a dirty look (the kind I give the Richkids when they are trying to pull a fastone on mom) when she overruled their objection to Jodi reviewing the journal entry. Judge is really lovely in person.

Being a visual person, it's really hard for me to listen to JM pointing out pages to JA without seeing what he's pointing to. I like exhibits. I think there are some jurors who feel the same.

A law student in my row is "softing" a tiny lavender blanket. Odd.

Interesting, based on what I noticed about her dirty fingers. Not to be unpleasant or rude, but the skin around her fingernails (chewed very short, like mine) was very dark/dirty. Sooty comes to mind.

Thanks for the info, Shan!
