Abandoned house demolished

  • #41
Dang near about as odd a tangent as I can muster - but wasn't BTK a code enforcement officer for some jurisdication near KCMO?

Yep! But, he was animal control.

Could it have been a crack or heroin house? This would fit in with the report from Megyn Kelly that was given to her by Ray Read @ KCMO about "criminal informants" telling the police to look at Deborah's associates.

(In some areas the citizens don't wait for the owner to take appropriate action about heroin houses on their streets either. The citizens destroy the house aka arson.)

It was boarded up the day after a missing child report and demolished within hrs of being searched? That's about as coincidental as the rest of this case. Hmmmmm.........:waitasec:
It is VERY CREEPY!

Can they just demolish a house that is owned by someone without sending notices? weird!

Well he probably has had notices about the nuisance. If it has been shelter for drug deals or using vagrants, or is infested with raccoons or something they might have to condemn it.

I cannot believe they tore that house down and the reason was "When police were asked about it, they told NBC Action News that no consent from the homeowner is required because of the emergency situation involving a missing child."

I sure as heck hope this doesn't go unquestioned or a lot of people who own abandoned homes/businesses might find the same fate. And that's really unfair in this day and age when it's difficult to rent out and/or sell property in this economy!

Seems too convenient to me. I'll speculate - they've wanted to demolish this place for some time + weren't able to as most owners don't just give up a 1935 property, sure demolish it. Ta da, there's an old cistern / well hidden there we can search, just something we need to do, didn't come from a specific tip. By golly now it's an emergency due to that search + all the looky loos that we just attracted to it. Ta da, fire up the dozer! No time for a phone call to the owner today. :cursing:

maybe we should have a poll as to who thinks it creepy that "this house" (probably one of many) was put on a demolish list on 9/16/2011 and someone in authority had it boarded up the day after a neighborhood child goes missing. And then, the day the house is actually searched the city rushes over, within hours of that search, and instead of fencing off the property someone authorizes its immediate demolition?

Yes = Creepy
No = Coinkydink

Did LE do a thorough investigation of the inside of the house before it was demo'ed. What if it was a squatting house and Lisa was brought there?
If the well search concluded approx. 2:30pm + news of the house already having been demolished hit by 6pm, then I see no possible way that the interior and grounds (which would be disturbed by bulldozer) could be anywhere near thoroughly investigated. moo of course.

I vote "necessary and related to illegal drugs". I wish LE would knock down many old abandoned homes (heroin houses) in one area of my city. :(

Right, four hours spent on a known vacant/overgrown property? No way they had a chance to cover the entire house and the property before the bulldozer got there.

Maybe the tracking and cadaver dogs had previously checked this house?

Ok but is that a "No" to the creepy factor? :-) What if someone who works in that office knows which houses are due to be boarded up and when. What if that person uses those properties to do terrible things all the while knowing that the evidence will be demolished...just saying... it creeps me out.

Thoughts, how big is the company dad works for? They would need permits from the city to build a new Starbucks right? Maybe some sicko works for the city and knew (if it is a small company) that dad would be gone that night? I"m gonna moooo all over this one, I sure don't want to get beat up over posting this one, lol. MOOOO

What really bothers me about this is if they were lead to the well behind this house via a tip.. don't you think they may want to keep this place around in the case that more information came in regarding this property? The baby was there.. the handyman was there.. lisa's mom was seen there... SOMETHING? Just does not seem like the right time, in a situation where a child is at risk to get rid of possible suspect places or items. It would be like burning the trash out of the Anthony car after they didn't find a body in it. Oh well.. Caylee is not here, we don't need this anymore.. BS.

I know that most of you know that, from the first official news conference, I have been suspicious of Mom, Dad & maybe even family members but this is the first time where I have really considered that some creep could have taken little Lisa and done something awful to her. Just a bad feeling I got when I saw that the house was knocked down within hours of a police search. Probably nothing but still it was an immediate gut reaction and still is.

Well I don't claim to know and I'm sure the laws are different in Missouri than I am used to. But I can recall when I was working in City government a home that was unsafe. We had to send several letters certified mail, and then the Bldg. Commissioner had to get a court order to demolish the house before we could do it.

So I find this a real shock.

I imagine the house was not an asset but a liability to the owner if it was in such poor shape. The owner was perhaps dragging their feet in having it taken down. Demolition with heavy equipment is a poor way to search for evidence so I hope LE is confident nothing was there.

I want to know who ordered the house to be demolished, perhaps they need a good talking to !

I live in a historic district. Some of the houses are not "gentrified". The slum landlord who owns the dilapidated, 7 bedroom Victorian home behind mine has frequently denied receiving the city housing inspector's letters. Sadly, this behavior is very common to slum landlords. (He may have received letters and is denying it.)

That house was on the list (***quoted a page or two back from the city list) as having been boarded up on 10/5/2011. You can clearly see, in the above video, that none of the windows were boarded over. WTH?

*** from an earlier post In da Middle said:

"This site is kinda tricky to navigate, but his (the owner's) story is not quite right. With all of the liens and assessments placed on this place and all of the repairs it needed, this place would never be worth fixing up IMO. It was boarded up after a LONG history of city intervention was needed. It was officially boarded up on 10/5 according to the history after being on the list to be boarded up since 9/6/11.

I am sure the owner's next to them are not sorry to see it go. "
