I have nothing against her or anyone else, I just don't see the need people have for saying such negative crap about us. We don't go around talking trash about their countries.
I can think of one instance when you yourself wrote derogatory remarks about France/French people. Do you honestly think that the citizens of this country don't talk trash about other countries? What about Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, China, Israel, etc...? I think we've seen it all on here.

Honey, I've never once indicated that I thought this site was all about me.

I was asking you a question based on YOUR opinion, which you stated. Even though you said "you can all hate me", it doesn't surprise me that you got pissy about it.

BTW, I can't stand GWB either.
Who's pissy?

I expected to lose friends over my comments.

I am only saying what the whole world knows lol lol

I've even heard someone (American) say on here, blow the rest of the world up lol

How is that okay, and me saying you think you are great not?

Like I've said before, there's alot to love about the states and alot to hate.

When the time is right I talk about the things there are to love, but noone notices those things just the things I say that are derogatory.

IMO, you were pissy, for your condescending and sarcastic response. (about me thinking the site was about me and how it pays to pay attention to other parts of the world, as if I don't)

I've never said nor condoned any talk of blowing up other countries. Personally, I don't think America is a perfect place or that other countries should aspire to be exactly like us. But for all its faults, there are plenty of people sneaking in here daily, so it must not be too bad.

Ok part of this should be in the politics forum...

But I am going to attempt to stay away from that..
The bottom line is this is a privately funded project on private land.
Being endorsed is merely the voice of the people.

It is not endorced from a political view. However, in a very real sense "we the people speak" and our politicians live up to that.

Those totally opposed can request their names not be included.

<<you sure do spend a lot of time on this website discussing topics that are happening in America.>>

And I was just pointing out that this site is not all about you, meaning America...we discuss lots of things on here, not just stuff going on in America.
That's all I meant by that comment, not that you weren't paying attention to other parts of the world.

Like I said, people like you only hear the bad I say, not the good.
I do not hate America, contrary to what some of you may think.

Which part would that be? This whole thread has political underpinnings.

How many people died trying to sneak into your country today? :D
We have them arriving by the boat load....they come in leaky old boats and not all of them make it here alive.

Sure we do, when it impacts us in some way. We don't sit around just thinking about stuff we can say just to irritate people and we don't make up lies like they do about us.

How did this thread go from the ACLU vs. St. Bernard Parish to America vs. the World?

Wow, that's a friendly response. I'll have to remember that when everyone is debating how to honor 9/11 victims. According to your logic, only those directly involved or impacted are allowed to have an opinion. Nice.
So what's frigging surprising about that? This whole thread is about someone butting in and telling someone they can't express themselves as they see fit. It's their tragedy, allow them to deal with it as they see fit. And I used to live in NO and know several people from St. Bernard who lost literally everything they owned. If they want to put up a giant 50 ft lawn flamingo or a Virgin Mary inside half a bath tub, in commeration of the dead (if you've ever set foot in St. Bernard, you'd get what I'm talking about) that's up to them. Everything else is just butting in for the sake of getting your name in the papers or your face on TV.

Rodriguez and others like the idea of putting the monument along the banks of the MRGO, because that waterway, dug by the federal government as a shipping shortcut in the 1960s, is widely blamed in the parish for accelerating the deadly flooding that accompanied Katrina.

Over the years erosion has widened the outlet, so the bank on which the cross will be erected is on privately owned land, Rodriguez said.

He added that the parish is researching who owns the land on which the stone monument bearing the names of the victims will sit, but he
thinks that it is privately owned.

And that's why it's idiotic, lol, it's on private land with private funds. The city workers that are involved are not being paid and are working on their own time. I heard there was a Muslim Crescent put on the memorial to Flight 93 in Pennsylvania and that the ACLU never griped about that.
Right wing view:
The memorial for Flight 93 was intially designed shaped as an Islamic crecent that pointed directly to Mecca.

Outrage over this chosen design to commemorate the lives lost in a Pennsylvania field in one giant act of bravery forced a re-think of the design.

Everyone doesn't pray to a cross, and the government doesn't have the right to assume that because they like the cross as a religious symbol, as do I personally, that all of these 129 people did. The government has no right to impose religion as a memorial to people who may not have wanted a cross to memorialize their death.

So I would think cp and dk that some do not feel the cross is a kind and respectful memorial to their loved ones.

I would think that if some of the relatives of the people who lost their lives there had a problem with the cross that it would be them that should speak up...Not the ACLU. If relatives have a problem then their family member's name could be left off of the cross. Very simple.
