Actor/singer David Cassidy has died at age 67

Wikipedia changed again. It now reports the following at the top:

This article documents a current event. Information may change rapidly as the event progresses, and initial news reports may be unreliable. The last updates to this article may not reflect the most current information.

As well, a date of death has been removed from the body text and infobox.

Just guessing here - it's likely he has passed, but the sources are not verifiable, so the news pops in and out. I hope the family just wants some time to process before the deluge of requests for statements, etc.

Whatever has or has not happened yet, this is very sad. 67 is still young to be so near death really, and he clearly hadn't been well for a while.

I don't know many of his songs, but my mum was a huge David Cassidy fan when she was much younger. My mum died when she was 54, back in 2011, when I was 22, and I always think of her whenever I listen to Cherish, which has been on my iPod since then. My twin and I share a birthday with David Cassidy (April 12th), and it always made me smile what with him being my mum's hearthrob back in the days.

It makes me smile as while that he used to play golf with Alice Cooper - an unlikely pairing!

Hard too imagine he's 67. I remember when a 14-year-old girl was crushed to death during a crowd rush at one of his concerts. He seemed genuinely saddened by the incident when he found out.

Another report:

David Cassidy, 'Partridge Family' star, dies at 67

"On behalf of the entire Cassidy family, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, our uncle, and our dear brother, David Cassidy," the former teen idol's publicist said in a statement. "David died surrounded by those he loved, with joy in his heart and free from the pain that had gripped him for so long. Thank you for the abundance and support you have shown him these many years."

Yes, it just popped up as a news flash on my iphone. Sad, grew up watching him.

But for the grace of God go I.
David is free, and at Home; no more struggle or pain.

He was a couple years younger than me .... RIP, David. No more pain, sing with the angels.
