The 3-year-old was discovered floating in the vessel by herself around 9 a.m. Friday, the Hood County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Deputies said they were told the child’s 32-year-old father had launched his boat with the girl around 5 p.m. Thursday from the ramp at Granbury City Beach along Business Highway 377, not far from Lake Bridge.

Rescue crews used boats, a dive team, drones, and aircraft to search for the father. They recovered the man's body near Hunter Park in a canal behind some homes in the Laguna Tres neighborhood Friday evening.

I’m lol cuz I was thinking “I wonder if he had a....few beers and fell over?” !!

I would assume not, because (hopefully) he wouldn’t drink enough to be that intoxicated when he’s out on the boat with his daughter. I bet the person who said that he may have drowned trying to get to the boat when the boat was drifting may be right. (Said in the article linked above.)

I hope she just fell asleep and slept all night until that man found her. Thank God she didn’t try to go in the water to find daddy!

I dont know what happened, but it reminded me so much of a story about my brother. He took his youngest daughter out on the boat. She was probably around 8. The boat stopped working out in the middle of lake nowhere. He said he was fully aware that there was no good option. To jump.in and go.under the boat to try to do whatever he had to was risky, but to stay was also risky. He gave her all sorts of instructions on what to press and what to say if he didnt come back up by xx time. So, it is possible something like that happened. He told her he had to swim in the water to fix something, just so it didnt sound scary. Poor baby.

Authorities in Texas recovered a man’s body from a lake on Friday after an unaccompanied 3-year-old girl found sleeping alone on a boat, told officers, “Daddy went swimming.”

A local spotted the boat adrift on Lake Granbury found the girl on board and alerted the authorities, WFAA reported.

Multiple agencies searched for the girl’s father before locating a man's body about 60 feet from the boat, NBC DFW reported.

Scary for your brother. But as you said, he was in a lake in the middle of nowhere.

In this case, it was in a canal behind a subdivision of homes on the water. If he had boAt trouble, he could have screamed for attention.

And it was said that his phone was there on the boat. He could have called for help.

Sadly, I think this was a sudden accident of some kind. RIP Dad. You must be happy to see your baby girl was found safe and sad. Rest Peacefully now.
