Sad news, Airen was found deceased :(

Curious why the investigation needs to be transitioned to an outside agency?

💔 Suicide or drug related maybe? Maybe he was found on school property? So sad.

Or he wasn't found in the town or county where he lived?

If you sort by "newest" first, you might get an inkling about what happened and why the case was turned over to a different agency. We'll have to wait for LE announcements to get the full details
Not seeing what you’re pointing too, guess we wait for more details to be released.

I understand Airen was attacked and killed by Leonard's dogs. He then took Airen's body and threw him in a ravine. Leonard didn't directly kill Airen, but my gosh - who the hell does something like that?

Poor Airen, I can't even imagine how terrified he was - sickening to even think about.

Sometime on Monday, the Bates County, Missouri, Sheriff’s Office received a call from a man, later identified as Damon Leonard, 47, of Pleasanton, Kansas, who told them he knew where the missing boy was located and that the child was deceased.

Deputies responded to Leonard’s location and, during an interview, learned that Leonard had transported the deceased child from Linn County across state lines into Bates County.

Leonard drove deputies to the location where he had placed the deceased child. Deputies later located the boy’s body in rural Bates County, down a large ravine in a creek bed.

Court documents reveal Leonard “admitted that he transported the deceased child from Kansas to Missouri and left the body in the bottom of the creek before traveling back to Kansas, where he resides.”

Kansas City Kansas Police are investigating the death as an outside agency along with the KBI (Kansas Bureau of Investigation). They released a statement emphasizing there are no Kansas charges yet for Leonard pending autopsy results.
