GUILTY AK - Ashley Johnson-Barr, 10, Kotzebue, 6 Sep 2018 *Arrest*

Seeing how close the planes were to where the phone was found, I had wondered if she could have been taken out by plane?
You’d think someone would have noticed a plane taking off. Wouldn’t a flight plan need to be filed? It is strange that her phone was close to airport and in opposite direction of her home.

17 FBI agents?!
That seems like a huge number.

I am wondering how busy that airport is. I see that Alaska Airlines does fly there a couple times a day, it appears. I am sure most air traffic is by smaller companies and private planes. But, just how busy is it on a daily basis? What sort of security is there?

I located average airport operational stats (most recent is Dec 2014):
AirNav: PAOT - Ralph Wien Memorial Airport

Airport Operational Statistics
Aircraft based on the field: 43
Single engine airplanes: 37
Multi engine airplanes: 6

Aircraft operations: avg 164/day *
50% transient general aviation
33% air taxi
12% local general aviation
3% commercial
2% military
* for 12-month period ending 01 December 2014

MOO, outlining scenarios:

Accidental death via drowning or fall or other.

Animal attack - dog, wild animal, etc.

Wandered off or lost maybe headed towards a village or the outlying wilderness

Abduction by a known person - more common than a stranger. Close knit community, supportive, small area but still possible

Abduction by a stranger - statistically less common. Area is high traffic for boats and planes, sometimes with strangers

Runaway - she’s very young for this scenario but still possible. Opportunities to stow away on boats and planes. <snip>

I hate to think the worst, but I wonder if it’s a combination of accidental injury/death and abduction (or hiding the body). I noticed in a recent video that the searchers made a point of looking in abandoned buildings, beneath buildings with crawl spaces, and, in one instance, it looked like a woman was opening the trunk of a junked car. They said they were seeking places where “kids like to hide.” The father then said that Ashley is very responsible and has never run away or hidden away before. This gave me a “hmmmm” moment.

I tend to discount an animal attack in the area of town where she was last seen (and/or where her phone was found). She’s 10 and old enough to make a ruckus if attacked by a bear, dogs, a wolf or a pack of coyotes-wolves-dogs. Attacks would be mauling and there would be a lot of evidence. JMO.

I sure hope her friends are willing to talk. They’ll know the answers to your excellent questions. I hope the strong FBI turnout is to scour through the digital evidence and get the kids to talk ... and hopefully find Ashley alive.

Also:

CCTV at high security/traffic locations. This is an alcohol “damp” village (restricted alcohol but not dry). There will be entry and exit security for the cargo, etc.

I uploaded photo of the search map (post #108). The strips of bright yellow stick-its seem to be affixed to certain properties of interest. Could the strip in Grid A, below the red marker that I think is Rainbow Park, have the word “camera” written on it? I can’t quite make it out. That’s right where her last known sighting was, so it would be great if someone had a security camera there that retained footage.

They really sent quite a number of FBI agents there...This seems to be taken very seriously.
Those RSOs are bothering me big time, but LE sure had a close look at them already .
The phone could have been thrown out of a car which took her elsewhere.
Where are you, Ashley?:(

There seems to be one road that follows a long loop around the outskirts of town following Ted Stevens Way and connecting with Airforce Road. If a car was involved and purpose was to hide her, possible to be anywhere along this road. I counting on LE has to have considered and searched there. It sure is looking like it’s mostly wilderness. Jmo
Also, excuse my lack of acronym deciphering here, but what is RSO?

If the one who took her is a local( which is so likely imo), there are so much more possibilities of where he could have hidden her, the surroundings of that town look somehow vast. Or in a building, but I know, they are looking at all those possibilities.

I know. It’s not so simple just because it’s a very small town. The environment alone. Sigh.

I dreamed of Ashley last night. Haven't been this bugged by a case in a long time. Hoping the FBI turns up SOMETHING today.

  • #136
I wonder if search dogs have been out looking for her. There’s so little info being released to the public, it seems.

Ashley, where are you?

Hinky meter going off. Sitting on my hands.........
I've been waiting for somebody else to "go there" first. I've been waiting to hear more about the witness. Now it seems there is no witness? This isn't adding up. Makes me super sad.

Search continues in Alaska for missing 10-year-old girl

17604344_G.jpg

In cold water, three divers search under floating docks and small boats.

Above ground, crews are deployed to recheck areas not searched thoroughly for any clues to where Johnson-Barr is.

Despite their days of hard work, authorities say the volunteer army is set to be scaled down.

Despite the enormous expanse, officials aren't giving up hope. However, weather conditions are becoming a factor.

Officials say they plan to expand the search further outside of Kotzebue on Thursday.
