Community members gather for vigil to raise awareness of missing person, ask for help, pray for answers
Jan 23 2021
''Hundreds of community members gathered at the Chief Peter John Tribal Building on First Avenue in Fairbanks on Saturday to hold a vigil for an alarmingly high number of people who have gone missing in the Fairbanks area over just the past 10 months.

Community leaders and family members of the missing spoke to those gathered at the vigil, asking for support and awareness from the community and action from leaders and law enforcement. Family members of the missing repeatedly asked for people to come forward with any information they have.''
''Jody Potts, one of the organizers of the vigil, told the people gathered that in an average year five people go missing in the Fairbanks area, but 11 people have gone missing in the area just since May 2020. Five of the missing people are from the Alaska Native community.''
''Jody Potts called for the creation of a Fairbanks missing persons task force. “We need this task force for agencies to share information, to connect the dots. There’s something going on here. It’s unusual to have eight missing persons just in five or six months,” Potts said.''

Vigil focuses on missing Alaska Natives
“It’s just very concerning,” Potts said. “A lot of people in the community are very, very concerned and I’d say people are scared right now. I feel it’s really important to come together and have a prayer vigil and a call to action for people with more resources who are able to investigate these missing persons.”

Potts said she feels compassion for Hull’s family and for those around the state missing loved ones, and she knows personally some of the Fairbanks people who are missing. She said members of their families and the community have been reaching out to her. Some of the people the prayer vigil is highlighting include Frank Minano, Debbie Nictune, Doren Sanford and Willis Derendoff.

“It’s a lot and it’s unusual,” she said. “Normally, Fairbanks doesn’t have this many missing persons.”

I read the article the other day, I can't believe this whole situation isn't getting more coverage and more help.

What do we know about Bradley Kruger(20) who was arrested for illegally having a gun? Fairbanks Man Indicted on Federal Gun Charges He's been in trouble with the law since at least age 15.

What is his relation to the other Kruger, Ronald Kruger (34) who was just caught burning down a house in the same area after the residents didn't let him inside. Same family? Could they know anything these missing people? Man accused of setting fire to home in Western Alaska with multiple people inside, troopers say

Oddly someone else went missing very close to him:
Four Alaska Native people missing after visiting Fairbanks in the fall - Alaska Public Media

I am attaching a map, it shows the hotel where this gentleman went missing and the road is right next to the road where Doren Sanford went missing, I presume. His poster says road, but a search says it does not exist, but airport way, and old airport road does, so it was either the same road, or the road adjacent.

Thank you for sharing that article, I didn't realize 4 of them were visitors. This is pure speculation, but is there any known persons or groups that would not want outsiders visiting the area for any reason at all? Again, just curious not trying to spread misinformation.

Lengthy article. rbbm.

Find Doren Sanford Facebook page

By Andrea Cavallier
''It’s been seven months since Alaska native Doren Sanford disappeared while searching for his dog in Fairbanks last August, and his family and local authorities are calling on those with information on his whereabouts to come forward.

I am convinced we have already talked to the people who know what happened to Doren,” Lieutenant Jess Carson of the Alaska State Troopers told Dateline. “Specifically, a young lady. It’s time she comes forward and gives us the information we need to find Doren and give his family closure.”

Doren, who was 34 years old when he went missing, was last seen on August 28, 2020, in Fairbanks, Alaska. Lieutenant Carson added that there has been no activity on his bank account or cell phone since that date, but said there are witness accounts that put him in the area around August 31.''

''Just a few weeks prior to his disappearance in August 2020, Doren was staying with family friends in Fairbanks while he looked at property he was interested in buying, according to his cousin.''

''Lieutenant Carson added that he believes that finding Groot may lead to more answers on Doren’s whereabouts and is asking the public to call authorities if he’s spotted.

If you have a tip or if a Rottweiler showed up in your area, with a tail that is not cropped, let us know,” Lt. Carson said. “Any of that information would be very helpful.”

“For a moment just put down what is aggravating you and just pick up the phone and call the troopers. And I’m very thankful if you do. I just hope and pray that whatever is going on in your life that you will turn around and do well.”

Doren is described as being 5’10” tall, weighing approximately 140-160 lbs, with brown hair and blue eyes. A Facebook page “Find Doren Sanford” has been created to share developments in the case.

If you have any information on Doren’s whereabouts, please contact the Alaska State Troopers (907) 451-5100. A $10,000 reward is being offered by the family for information that leads to Doren''

MISSING IN ALASKA’S INTERIOR: Doren Sanford disappears searching for lost dog
By Sarah Hollister
Mar. 9, 2021 rbbm.
“I am 100% convinced we have already talked to the people who know what happened and they are not willing to tell us the truth right now,” Lieutenant Jess Carson of the Alaska State Troopers said in an interview Friday.

The 35-year-old was last heard from on the afternoon of August 29, 2020.''
''Sanford is a heavy equipment operator/laborer and an aspiring business owner in Anchorage. He recently started his own business, Sanford Home Repair & Remodel.''

''Webb said he also has a deep care for others and would help anyone in need.

“When he was living in Anchorage, if he saw someone walking down the street [experiencing homelessness] he would pull over,” Webb said. “If they needed to eat, he’d make sure that they did and if they wanted to clean up, he’d take them home and [let them] get in the shower and get them cleaned up and fed and get them back and drop them off where they need to go.”

''Missing Dog and Mysterious Disappearance
A few weeks prior to his disappearance, Sanford had been working with a family member in Northway when he received word from Fairbanks that some property was available he may be interested in purchasing.

When Sanford arrived in Fairbanks he stayed with some friends. His mother says he was looking for his dog, Groot, which went missing.''

'We are working on this': Troopers get significant tip in 2020 Interior missing-persons case

Alaska State Troopers are investigating new information in one of four cases of Alaska Native people who were reported missing in the Fairbanks area during 2020.

Troopers Capt. Eric Spitzer, commander of AST’s Interior Alaska detachment, mentioned the break during a Thursday meeting held by the Fairbanks Native Association and the Tanana Chiefs Conference.

The gathering at the Chief David Salmon Tribal Hall brought together local Native, city and law enforcement representatives to update the community on the cases of Frank Minano, Debbie Nictune and Doren Sanford, who went missing in August 2020, and Willis Derendoff who disappeared three months later in November 2020. ...

[...]

“I am bubbling over with things that I want to say to you right now,” Spitzer said. “But in the interest of transparency — there’s transparency, and then there’s preserving the integrity of investigation. I will tell you this: In the near future there’s going to be some legal movement on a case. I can’t tell you which case, but I’m telling you that we are working on this. We are going to hold those people responsible who are accountable.”
