Anchorage police are looking for a missing Oregon man with mental issues who flew to the state overnight Monday.
Word that 39-year-old Edgar Brown was missing reached police at about 4 a.m. Wednesday, according to APD spokeswoman Renee Oistad.
“Brown had taken a flight from Oregon and arrived in Anchorage on [Tuesday],” Oistad wrote in an email. “(The) family has not heard from Brown since. Brown has made statements that have made his family concerned that he may harm himself.”
Officers have checked “several locations” for Brown, according to Oistad, but haven’t been able to find him.
Brown’s wife, Kimberley Brown, said in an interview Wednesday that he is being treated for kidney disease and has a number of distinctive tattoos. He has been variously diagnosed with severe clinical depression or bipolar disorder.
“He is incredibly calm; he doesn’t have any emotional outbursts,” she said. “He acts totally normal when he’s at home, and then you get blindsided – it’s coming out of the blue.”
Kimberley said Edgar had previously been reported missing in Hawaii, when he flew to Honolulu in 2016, but eventually returned home.
