GUILTY AK - Kristy Manzanares, 39, killed aboard Emerald Princess, Juneau, 25 July 2017 *husband arrested*

If he had jumped/fallen from Deck 9, he probably would have fallen approximately 80 feet. That may be tough to survive. Hitting the water from that height is like hitting a wall, from what I have read elsewhere.

Plus, with the decks being tiered, as we saw in pics a few pages back, there is a distinct possibility of hitting part of the ship on the way down.

Apologies to all...I was trying to obsure faces, and point out the water was not as cold as I had thought when I first started thinking about all the things that 'could' have occurred. Just forget I brought the water temp up at all.....it is totally irrelevant to the reality of what did happen. Not what could have happened....again apologies.

I was the one who explained the tiered arrangement of the ship. Since he was on deck 9, he'd have landed in the water, not another deck.

No need to apologize. It was an interesting thing to postulate, if he had gone overboard. But he didn't . But now you have me wishing I'd stuck my toe in the water when we were docked somewhere (if that would have been possible, I can't recall) to feel the temperature of the water. In the fjord, there were lots of chunks of ice and small icebergs floating around, so it was pretty cold in there. Sad that those cruisers didn't get to experience that part of the cruise. Very sad for everyone.

Thanks, I had linked it back on my post #309. This was discussed starting on that post and continuing on a couple pages if anyone wants to go back and read the posts.

Why thanks for the reply :loveyou: .... I started at the bottom and was working my way backward when I posted. my humble apology for assuming you were still a "newbie" and did not know (or thinking maybe you couldn't add a link via Tapatalk, which I have never used). You became a poor much faster than I ever figured how to do things here.

Oh my :-) No problem or offense taken whatsoever!! I should have posted the link or explained it was already posted, I was just lazy this morning lol
(An aside, so far I'm not wild about Tapatalk but it is easier to edit.)

That's strange, because I use Tapatalk and I can see the "more" button.

Tapatalk has been terrible lately. Did it get an 'update'? It's harder to navigate, I find a lot of things I click never load; it's really off-putting.

I think he will plead guilty. A plea deal will have been worked out ahead of time so he will serve less time in prison.

There were too many witnesses, some being family, for him to even think about pleading anything else, IMO.

I agree. And I can't imagine he would want to put his girls and family through the pain of testifying. Even someone who kills his wife is capable of caring about his kids after the fact in the cold light of day when reality sinks in...I would hope, anyway.

Maybe he'll plead insanity.
