OMG! :thud:

:banghead::banghead::banghead:

I have found the obituaries for a number of Israel Keyes out of the Mid West, Pacific North West, and on the East coast...I think you will find if you run any active search, on any given name, chances are you will find more then a few, all with different DOB, as well as separate SSN's.

Koenig Case: Defense Says Keyes Subject of Other Investigations

(Snipped)

Keyes' lawyers said that because "Mr. Keyes is being investigated on other matters," they must be fully informed about other criminal investigations and allegations in order to know which statements may need to be suppressed, and to adequately advise their client.

WCAX, a Vermont TV station, said a source tells the station that Keyes is the prime suspect in the murders of Bill and Lorraine Currier, who disappeared from their Vermont home in June of 2011.

Their remains have not been found and Keyes has not been charged in the case.

New Developments in Case Against Israel Keyes

(Snipped)

According to court documents Keyes' defense attorneys filed earlier today, prosecutors have told them that Keyes is “being investigated on other matters.”

The defense is demanding that federal prosecutors give them the full details of other criminal investigations and allegations against Keyes.

Vermont authorities have linked Keyes to the murder of a couple there, but have not released any details.

Keyes' lawyers complained in the Wednesday status report to a federal judge that, against their objections, prosecutors have had repeated contact with Keyes, 34. They also wrote that the prosecutors have failed to talk to them about additional criminal allegations, apparently not filed yet.

"The defense understands from the government that Mr. Keyes is being investigated on other matters," the court-appointed defense lawyers wrote. "Because of this, the defense must be made fully aware of other criminal investigations and allegations in order to properly advise Mr. Keyes; however, the government has yet to provide defense counsel with discovery (evidence) related to these matters."

Keyes' lawyers declined to comment on the status report Thursday.

There have been no new charges filed against Keyes since he was indicted for Koenig's kidnapping and murder, a crime punishable by death.

In a phone interview Thursday, Assistant U.S. Attorney Frank Russo, one of the Alaska prosecutors assigned to the Koenig case, refused to discuss the possibility of any additional charges pending against Keyes.

"I can't comment on any ongoing investigations," Russo said.

After the interview, Russo filed a motion Thursday afternoon asking a judge to "strike" the defense status report. In the motion, Russo denied the defense allegations of wrongdoing by the prosecutors.

I'm so curious what the Feds have on this guy. He appears to be knee deep in serious crimes while authorities remain tight lipped. What's going on?

Police, FBI revisit Israel Keyes house

Anchorage police and the FBI today have closed down the dead-end street in West Anchorage where Israel Keyes lived before he was jailed for allegedly abducting and killing 18-year-old Samantha Koenig in February.

"All I can say is the APD and FBI are executing a federal search warrant," said FBI spokesman Eric Gonzales. He said the search was related to Keyes and his home on Spurr Lane, in the Turnagain neighborhood.

An officer at the scene said Spurr Lane is closed while FBI agents investigate. A new, unpainted Anchorage Police Department crime scene investigation vehicle could be seen parked in front of Keyes' residence, owned by his girlfriend.

Wonder what they are looking for? Evidence in Sam's case or perhaps another they are attempting to link him to.

Israel Keyes' New York Property Also Searched Tuesday

ANCHORAGE, Alaska

Days after a fresh search at the Anchorage home of slain barista Samantha Koenig’s accused killer, a simultaneous search of Israel Keyes’ land in New York is raising interest in both the Koenig case and that of a Vermont couple abducted and killed last year.

According to Burlington, Vt. station WCAX-TV, FBI investigators and state police converged Tuesday morning on a 10-acre plot belonging to Keyes in Constable, N.Y. A neighbor told the station that he’d led state police two months ago to what appeared to be a shallow grave on the property -- the same spot he led an FBI agent to Tuesday.

WCAX says Keyes, who faces federal charges of kidnapping resulting in death in the Koenig case, is also the prime suspect in the deaths of Bill and Lorraine Currier, who were abducted from their home in June 2011.

Investigators with the Anchorage Police Department and the FBI visited Keyes’ Turnagain home on the 2400 block of Spurr Lane Tuesday, using metal detectors to search areas outside the structure.

This is a developing story. Please check KTUU.com and the Channel 2 newscasts for updates.

From the Wall Street Journal:

Agents and state police were seen digging around the cabin and on other parts of the property, the station reported...

From link:
Keyes was arrested in March in Texas, extradited to Alaska and subsequently charged with the Feb. 1 murder of 18-year-old Samantha Koenig, who worked as a barista in Anchorage. Her body was discovered in a lake near Anchorage that same day.
An April 17 federal indictment alleges that Keyes kidnapped and killed Koenig, stole her debit card and extorted ransom money from her family. The indictment says he left Anchorage for Texas, returned to Alaska, then fled back to Texas, where he was apprehended. Authorities found him allegedly by tracing where he withdrew money from Miss Koenig’s bank account.

Does that mean Samantha's body was found in Feb, but then it wasn't announced until April? Please forgive me, I didn't follow this case closely. Thanks!

No, you're right. Samantha went missing Feb 1st and was found Apr 2nd. It is so curious how far reaching this case is, with the FBI basically leading searches across the country. So curious. I wonder what they have?

"Kevin Feldis, an assistant U.S. attorney in Alaska, declined to comment because the warrant remained under seal."

"Keyes, who operated a one-man construction business, was arrested March 11 in Texas. Prosecutors say he had made withdrawals of ransom money using a debit card he stole from Koenig.

After killing Koenig, Keyes used her phone to send text messages to conceal the abduction, according to prosecutors. He flew to Texas and returned Feb. 17 to Anchorage, where he sent another text message demanding ransom and directing it to the account connected to the stolen debit card, according to prosecutors.

Keyes made withdrawals from ATMs in Alaska, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas before his arrest in Texas, prosecutors said.

Koenig's family said there was no apparent previous connection between the teen and the suspect."

There has to be a whole lot more going on here than what we know.

"Neighbors said Friday that the road was blocked off, for about a quarter mile in either direction from the property, by state police on Tuesday and Wednesday.
“They were keeping people really as far away as possible,” said Chana O’Leary, who lives about a quarter mile from the Keyes cabin.
Lt. Scott Heggelke of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation said state police did not participate in the actual search.
Pasquale “Pat” Guagliano of Malone said he was riding his bike to Ms. O’Leary’s house to help her split wood and was allowed to pass under state police escort.
He said he saw about 30 people exiting unmarked cars when he passed the scene shortly before 9 a.m. Wednesday. He said he noticed a card table set up that had a stack of orange-blaze hats and vests and a clipboard. He said a few of those present wore windbreakers and ties.
Ms. O’Leary said investigators who refused to identify themselves or their agency came to her house and questioned her. She said they asked her how long she lived at her Poplar Street home and if she owned her property, and wanted to know her whereabouts in 2011. She said she had been in Europe doing missionary work for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Ms. O’Leary said she believes she was interrogated because she has a connection to Texas, as does Keyes."

WTH?

I can say that from the beginning I thought they should search the constable NY property. It just seemed so strange. After hearing of the connection to the VT couple, it makes even more sense. The drive between there and Constable,NY is not too far and is very rural. I've driven it several times.

It seems to me they have a lot of leads to follow because this guy was a really awful guy who was really busy. I am so glad he was dumb enough to use the ATM card.

If not for the use of the ATM, I have to wonder if they would have ever connected him to Sam's murder.
