Which leads to wondering how he would achieve a guarantee like that?

I'd like to put out an informal poll, curious to see where everyone's opinion lies.

Who?

Why?

Will she be found alive?

It's starting to read like a massive game to me, and I'm not sure who the key players are anymore. I don't believe she is alive.

All I ever read was that her dad called her all night until her phone either died or was turned off. I never saw anything about her boyfriend calling at all, past him calling to let her know he was on her way to pick her up, and I definitely don't know anything about either one searching for her that night.....if you can find the link, I'd love to read it b/c I've been wondering since the beginning about what her bf did after he arrived to pick Sam up and she was gone, and it would answer lots of questions....

I am thinking that the bf might have thought she went off with another guy that night. Relationships that age are tumultuous. My daughter's ex bf was really jealous and ALWAYS jumped to negative conclusions. He was supposed to pick her up at an event where she was singing one night after he got off work. He got there, couldn't find her, so he left mad. I had to go pick her up and he was just looking in the wrong place. LOL

Meantime, detectives are "just as busy as busy can be," he said Tuesday.

"I know they were looking for some additional people this morning. So they're widening the circle," Parker said. "They're making progress towards finding out who abducted her, but I can't give any specifics on that."

"(The detectives) may well have suspects or persons of interest, but they're not releasing that publicly," he said. "Obviously there are some things in an investigation that you have to keep close to your vest. And we're pretty good card players."

I think it's a gang thing. Either her or her dad got wrapped up in something that really pissed them off.

My best guess is that she was working with the authorities on an investigation or perhaps had already provided some key information/testimony that landed someone in jail. The other possibility is that her dad got involved in something and they took his daughter in retaliation.

I do not think she is alive. Not after two weeks. :(

Good morning :) I saw your post last night but then fell asleep. I'll look for it this morning for ya. I remember feeling like maybe he used to stay at her house or she'd stay at his sometimes while I was reading it. I don't remember the verbiage verbatim so I'll go look. I could have taken it the wrong way...

Fwiw, I unfortunately do not believe she is alive either. I also think it is possible that if this is gang related (and I think it could be), that it's her bf that is the link to it - either as some sort of witness, or that they took her in retaliation towards him. Reason being, I still think his being late and the timing of Sam being taken are hinky - like he was being watched, or was deliberately held up at work somehow....

Good morning :). No problem - I'm just so hung-up on what happened with her bf after he went to get her and she was gone!

I wonder if Dad is helping, really, by his statements that seem to indicate possible gang-related activity...only because a part of the population will lose interest in gang-related crimes, as opposed to a young woman taken from her place of work for no known reason, etc...JMO

Obviously this was well planned out. They have been asking people to report if they were there the day before, day of and day after. He hide from the cameras and people close by never knew it was happening. I'm still leaning toward this being sexually motivated and is a stranger or someone who frequently went there. I still believe she is alive. That could be why no one has come forward for the money. No one knows who it is and he surely is not going to give her up for money.

It is possible it was cold in there because of the window's open all the time and she wore her jacket all day or she had just put it on since she was about to leave. Her phone could have already been in her jacket. On the way out he may have told her to grab her purse, he did make her or he took the money from the register.

As far as the BF coming soon and fear of getting caught..I don't think it would have mattered if he did show up. The person who took her may have been ready to kill if needed. He did have a gun. More so if he was there to kidnap her as the only reason. I think that is how he gained access to the inside, he knocked, she thought it was her BF, didn't look or was busy and opened the door.

Someone posted earlier that the cameras were streamed online. Since she only worked there a month maybe they have all the previous tapes since she started working there and have been able to compare them to the person who took her. If they know who took her there would be no reason to release the tapes and could actually bring harm to her.

The recent comments by her father make me believe the police are asking him to help by saying he would help them leave the state and protect them. I do not believe that if he was able to get Sam back alive he would let the guy go alive. That is if he is NOT working with the police. Either way after him making that statement the police are no doubt watching him.
From the above article:

Still, James is keeping up hope and feeding information to the detectives, he said. He declined to elaborate.

Also someone asked earlier how one gets out of Alaska. There is one way out by road to the north. You can also get out by Large and small airplanes, trains, fishing boats, and Ferry. In fact Small airplanes are the only way in and out of some places in Alaska and are a very huge part of the transportation to many parts of the state. But my thoughts are that she is still in the state.

My mom and step-dad moved north 10 years ago because the town was getting worse. I worked downtown when I was a teen and closed by myself. Every night one of my male friends would meet me outside because lots of homeless people were in the alley. Like every town there are bad areas. Downtown, Mountian view, Spenard and some parts of Muldoon were the trouble areas when I lived there. I would never walk alone in any of those places even in the daytime.

MOO

Interesting quote.

I feel sorry for her Dad.

Her father, James Koenig, said he is now offering $60,000 for information that gets his daughter home safely. James has even offered to give his daughter's abductor the cash if the abductor or any accomplices release her.

But it's obvious now the abduction isn't and wasn't about money, James Koenig said.

"The reward is really moot at this point," he said. "Because if it was about money, I'd have her back by now. I could put a million dollars on that ... flier, and I don't think that would change a thing."

Still, James is keeping up hope and feeding information to the detectives, he said. He declined to elaborate.

"Every day, I think they're still getting good leads, and as far as what they're following up on or how good they are or how close they're getting, I don't know. I'm sure that's based on they don't want to get my hopes up ... It's just been a roller-coaster ride. I feel like I'm going to find her, then I don't find her come midnight, and then crash. The next day I'm just kind of in solitude and not real talkative."

James said his friends and family "help keep me sane and keep me out of that dark place I don't want to be in."

Even if there was a gang component to this--wouldn't they want to release that to narrow down a suspect??? This whole not releasing the video makes no sense to me. Even child 🤬🤬🤬🤬 victims at very least have a still shot of their face released when they are believed to be in current danger.

This girl is in imminent, life-threatening DANGER. There should be NO reason to withhold any information that may save her life.

My hinky-meter is all over the map on this one.

What would be Dad's motivation for that? It seems that he wants people to stay interested in this case to increase the odds of his daughter's return.

As any one of us would do if we were in his shoes, poor man!
I imagine he already is seeing a drop in numbers for volunteers and media who are contacting him. It's the sad reality in a missing persons case.

The above statement really makes me feel horrible.

I didn't mean on purpose... I was wondering if that might be a result by mistake, if people started to think "oh well, gangs..."

Parker, the police spokesman, said Anchorage residents shouldn't be fearful that neither Koenig nor her abductor have been found.

"We don't want people to react with fear. But everybody needs to pay attention to their personal safety," Parker said. "This is not television drama. This is real life and investigations take time. We'll do it in the most professional and expeditious manner possible."

"We don't know how long this one's going to take, but our commitment is to work the investigation until such time as there's no leads left," Parker said.
I hate the way Parker phrases things.

I can't believe still no information about the suspect has been released, why does it seem we focus sometimes more on protecting those who pray on others. Praying for Samantha!

It's my opinion that when LE makes a statement assuring locals of their own safety, it means they know who did it, but don't have enough evidence.

It sounds pretty straightforward to me. I can't come up with any better way of saying what he said, without telling everything they know, and they rarely do that.
