That's pretty odd. Let's review what has happened re: the reward money:
- Samantha is abducted
- Samantha's father says he has $12,500 to offer as a reward, but needs more
- A few days later we're told the reward is up to $41,000
- We hear nothing about the reward for a while; dad is asked about it at vigil but says he is holding off
- We're told that it's somewhere north of $60,000
- Dad is quoted in the paper the other day as saying that reward won't do any good, obviously this isn't about money to Samantha's abductor
- Dad continues to solicit donations, apparently harassing someone on FB about posting solicitations to the point that they are going to delete a page dedicated to following his daughter (with 9,000 followers I might add)
Very odd indeed.
I think that's kind of odd as well but only bc I haven't seen this scenario alot. I think it's even more odd that a person set up a missing FB profile of Samantha Koenig, like they do for alot of missing persons, but seem to follow whatever the rumor mill majority complain about instead of just running a missing page to generate leads. That's one of the reasons several people in Michelle Parker's case stopped following that page and started only following the official one set up by her friends & family. That's exactly what I'm doing for Samantha's case bc I personally think it's despicable how this lady is speaking to this father who happens to have a missing daughter and is most obviously distraught. He's a victim, not a suspect. So he might have credit issues. Most people in America have the same problem, they just act like they don't. Unfortunately, JK's daughter goes missing so now the whole world knows he's bad with money bc we've (myself included) have pulled his court records. Nothing in there says he's mafia or a gang banger or a wife abuser or a drunk etc etc etc. I feel terrible for what this man is going through. There could be a Myriad of reasons why he hasn't updated the reward amount. Maybe some of it is tied up. Maybe he needs to secure it as non profit through the appropriate avenues or else he could be taxed on it, maybe police or a lawyer stepped forward to lend counsel bc somebody else should be appointed as accountant or such. This has become a high profile case and he didn't ask to be put in this situation. He's learning as he goes along. His pain is apparent and cuts to the core. Maybe he's had some rough times throughout life. I know I'm in the minority with regards to the reward but I honestly am one of the people that believes a reward won't help, especially considering the police won't even release stills from the surveillance footage.
z560, if there's something that was found that suggests this guy isn't forthright or has connections with gangs or organized crime, I haven't found it. I've searched just to be thorough and I've found nothing at all that suggests he's a really bad guy. The stuff on the court docs stem from money issues & creditors. There's 2 people with his name in Anchorage so the birthrates have to match up to be sure it's him.
Side note: I searched the sex offenders in the vicinity of his address and wow there over 700 right in extremely close proximity. Since I believe Samantha was abducted for nefarious reasons and that the robbery was added as a bonus to the perp, I'm wondering if there's an offender that has experience in robbing at gunpoint as well. I'm also searching gangs, which are abundant in that area. Seems she could have been taken as an initiation for the perp to be accepted, but the coffee huts in Anchorage have been targeted for a long time now - the exception being Samantha was abducted instead of just being robbed. She attended 3 high schools with the last one (AVAIL) being an alternative school. There are 100 students or less in the whole 9th-12th grade there & the school's report card shows a high rate of dropouts compared to number of students. It appears it's for high risk kids. The demographic of the area is very high crime & low income. She went from 2 schools that have around 1,500 students each to an alternative program enrolling around 100 students yet she dropped out of that school as well. What was going on with Samantha?
There has to be something we're missing. Something I find interesting is the fact that Nancy Grace released info nonchalantly about the perp being caucasion or having light skin. Then the police went into detail (more than their initial statement) telling why they're not releasing the video or even stills from the video. Then James talks about how he doesn't think its about a reward now, that the main reason for the crime was the abduction itself. All of that together makes me wonder if it's gang related & when the skin was shown maybe it showed a tattoo or something pertaining to member markings. Maybe that's why James backed off a bit with talking about the reward, bc maybe they believe if Samantha is still alive, that scrutinizing a certain gang would surely kill her as well as the person calling in a tip. If it's gang related, then more than likely a person calling in a tip would be involved in the gang as well.
This case is so frustrating. The perp could be anybody really, but you guys got me thinking about gangs in the beginning. I had no idea how abundant and bad they are in Anchorage. Once I started researching I was immediately blown away. Holy cow.
