Ok...so I ran the scenerio past my daughter. She is close to Samantha's age and has worked in various drive-thru coffee "huts". I asked her what she would do if she were in Samanthas shoes.
She told me she feels certain that Sam knew whomever it was that took her...perhaps only casually..but none the less,a familier face at the least. Walk-up traffic is not allowed after dark (at least not at the "huts" my daughter worked at) The girls were instructed to keep the window closed and locked, and to explain (through the closed window)that they are not allowed to serve foot traffic ater dark. BUT,often times,if my daughter was familier with the person, she would break the rule and allow them to order.
When I asked her what SHE would do if someone put a weapon in her face or threatened her safety, she said...."Id drop to the floor, push the panic button and crawl to the area furthest away from the danger...then call 911 with my cell phone."
I truly feel that this was NOT a random abduction. There's a connection between all involved. IMO

Also in this story-APD is organizing a safety presentation for Barrista's, to be held at their training center.

Does this mean that APD thinks there might be someone out there targeting these baristas? Or is this just a good time to do something that they've been wanting to do anyway?

LE already stated that no one else should be alarmed...so I think they are just doing an "after the fact" kind of safety training thing. JMO

Sorry if this is a repeat, my computer is down so I'm on my phone. SK's FB "Find..." original page is being removed due to some harassment from friends and family of SK. This whole thing is so sad.

That's pretty odd. Let's review what has happened re: the reward money:

- Samantha is abducted
- Samantha's father says he has $12,500 to offer as a reward, but needs more
- A few days later we're told the reward is up to $41,000
- We hear nothing about the reward for a while; dad is asked about it at vigil but says he is holding off
- We're told that it's somewhere north of $60,000
- Dad is quoted in the paper the other day as saying that reward won't do any good, obviously this isn't about money to Samantha's abductor
- Dad continues to solicit donations, apparently harassing someone on FB about posting solicitations to the point that they are going to delete a page dedicated to following his daughter (with 9,000 followers I might add)

Very odd indeed.

I think that's kind of odd as well but only bc I haven't seen this scenario alot. I think it's even more odd that a person set up a missing FB profile of Samantha Koenig, like they do for alot of missing persons, but seem to follow whatever the rumor mill majority complain about instead of just running a missing page to generate leads. That's one of the reasons several people in Michelle Parker's case stopped following that page and started only following the official one set up by her friends & family. That's exactly what I'm doing for Samantha's case bc I personally think it's despicable how this lady is speaking to this father who happens to have a missing daughter and is most obviously distraught. He's a victim, not a suspect. So he might have credit issues. Most people in America have the same problem, they just act like they don't. Unfortunately, JK's daughter goes missing so now the whole world knows he's bad with money bc we've (myself included) have pulled his court records. Nothing in there says he's mafia or a gang banger or a wife abuser or a drunk etc etc etc. I feel terrible for what this man is going through. There could be a Myriad of reasons why he hasn't updated the reward amount. Maybe some of it is tied up. Maybe he needs to secure it as non profit through the appropriate avenues or else he could be taxed on it, maybe police or a lawyer stepped forward to lend counsel bc somebody else should be appointed as accountant or such. This has become a high profile case and he didn't ask to be put in this situation. He's learning as he goes along. His pain is apparent and cuts to the core. Maybe he's had some rough times throughout life. I know I'm in the minority with regards to the reward but I honestly am one of the people that believes a reward won't help, especially considering the police won't even release stills from the surveillance footage.

z560, if there's something that was found that suggests this guy isn't forthright or has connections with gangs or organized crime, I haven't found it. I've searched just to be thorough and I've found nothing at all that suggests he's a really bad guy. The stuff on the court docs stem from money issues & creditors. There's 2 people with his name in Anchorage so the birthrates have to match up to be sure it's him.

Side note: I searched the sex offenders in the vicinity of his address and wow there over 700 right in extremely close proximity. Since I believe Samantha was abducted for nefarious reasons and that the robbery was added as a bonus to the perp, I'm wondering if there's an offender that has experience in robbing at gunpoint as well. I'm also searching gangs, which are abundant in that area. Seems she could have been taken as an initiation for the perp to be accepted, but the coffee huts in Anchorage have been targeted for a long time now - the exception being Samantha was abducted instead of just being robbed. She attended 3 high schools with the last one (AVAIL) being an alternative school. There are 100 students or less in the whole 9th-12th grade there & the school's report card shows a high rate of dropouts compared to number of students. It appears it's for high risk kids. The demographic of the area is very high crime & low income. She went from 2 schools that have around 1,500 students each to an alternative program enrolling around 100 students yet she dropped out of that school as well. What was going on with Samantha?

There has to be something we're missing. Something I find interesting is the fact that Nancy Grace released info nonchalantly about the perp being caucasion or having light skin. Then the police went into detail (more than their initial statement) telling why they're not releasing the video or even stills from the video. Then James talks about how he doesn't think its about a reward now, that the main reason for the crime was the abduction itself. All of that together makes me wonder if it's gang related & when the skin was shown maybe it showed a tattoo or something pertaining to member markings. Maybe that's why James backed off a bit with talking about the reward, bc maybe they believe if Samantha is still alive, that scrutinizing a certain gang would surely kill her as well as the person calling in a tip. If it's gang related, then more than likely a person calling in a tip would be involved in the gang as well.

This case is so frustrating. The perp could be anybody really, but you guys got me thinking about gangs in the beginning. I had no idea how abundant and bad they are in Anchorage. Once I started researching I was immediately blown away. Holy cow.

Wait till you see the newest.

Screams disassociation ... bout as far from a rapper or wanna-be gang-banger as could be. Polar opposite to be exact

Well then maybe we should post his Philly Blunt snapshots paired with all of his court records. This cat is not your most stellar citizen no matter what she says to defend her son.

Sam's bro is friends with Chris or were they just FB friends that collaborated on a song or 2?

The coffee shack is no bigger than a closet. He may have been between her and the panic button, and seeing that he somehow obscured the surveillance inside, she may have felt that if she resisted, he might shoot her (at close range in that tiny shack) and run. I keep thinking I would have taken my shot to get away once outside. By all indications, there were cars/people nearby, but not paying attention. I think I would have risked screaming and making a scene in the hopes he wouldn't shoot me out in the open with witnesses since I had called attention to us....but then again, it's easy for me to say what I would do without being in the situation myself.
I'm not sure that how she reacted is necessarily indicative of her knowing her abductor, because we don't know what he said to her, or what she thought it was about, if she had an idea. It does make me wonder if she somehow thought that if she went quietly, she would be "ok".

Yeah, a cowboy hat changes everything...LOL

Ya know, I'n confused about how that guy relates to Sam....I thought he was her step-brother, but he lists Sam's mom as his "mother-in-law", so that's not right....

Oh my I read the last two pages and am more confused than ever, I think I'll mosey on over to another thread somewhere where I can understand the semantics a little better! :)

Gosh bdawk, I've played this over & over in my mind and come up with the same thing you do. Maybe it's my background? It just doesn't seem right that the dude is significantly taller than Sam, has her in a headlock, but she doesn't get loose. If he's 6'2 or more, she'd have the advantage in a headlock bc of where his arm would bend. He had a gun, though. I'm just not understanding how she could have been in a headlock on a main street but nobody helped her. I'm dumbstruck how this happened & the fact that she's still missing. It doesn't make sense.

The Common Grounds Sam worked at is Midtown & in the parking lot of that Alaska Club. What classes did the Alaska Club have going on around the time Samantha was abducted? Was it crowded in the gym? Where are their entrances compared to where the coffee hut is located? Any windows in the gym? 2 stories or 1? Where is the main desk? Is it to the side of the main door or in the middle of it but back about 25 feet? Lots of surveillance cameras in businesses all around. My gosh the Hooters probably has at least 5 themselves. Nothing makes sense.

Wow she wasn't done airing her thoughts. Doesn't she have a phone? WHY would you put all this out on fb????

  • #573
God help me, something else just popped into my head. Sam was abducted on the 1st. She was also robbed. This is a low income high risk crime demographic. If the perp is low income, could there be a chance he's on welfare? If he's on welfare, then why rob on the 1st? I mean, wouldn't the 1st be payday?

I swear I don't think robbery was the main motive. I think Sam was the real motive of the perp.

Tell me about it. Total disrespect & absolutely no class at all. Some people have no decency. That's sooo sad.

Awesome post Jersey! Hope you don't mind me snipping from it :)

I posted earlier in the thread that my sister has 10 or so mutual friends with James on FB, she looked on his FB yesterday and has 30+ mutual friends. This was the crowd she hung out with as a teen, I also hung out with her and her friends. None of them have been in gangs. It still could be gangs, but not from him or his friends. I really thought this should be cleared up for him and them.

Thanks for this Miziree! IMO & based on my research I completely agree & I didn't think so! I do wonder about about outside gang activity, most especially initiation.

Miziree, I wanted to let you know - as well as any other local - that Websleuths is different from any other site by being strict about the rumor mill. Trisha, this site's owner, likes for the "locals" in any given missing person's case to verify who they are. It's confidential & quick. Once verified as a local, especially if the local is one that holds a title such as lawyer or acquaintance / friend, the words chosen are taken with more credence than "just somebody posting an opinion". Her email is on the front page of this site or else you could pm her through her user id on here.

After seeing that last picture, I noticed Sam might have a piercing below her bottom lip. This & all piercings need to be noted on her missing posters for identification purposes.
