im starting to wonder if the abductor had "cased" the place before this and if they are on the sercurity camera. this seems to have been planned, i wonder how long the coffee place keeps their tapes. if there were other tapes of this person then maybe those could be released without showing her actual abduction...

Sorry if this has already been posted. This could be so unrelated but with the vigilante talk and concerns of tainting a jury...I was concerned it might be important.

This is from an sexual assault in August 2011 in Anchorage.

BBM there is that "taint" word...

September 2011

Then in December 2011 - Same guy? Different guy?

More at the story.

So do they use that "taint" word a lot there? Is this guy out on bond? Could a cab be seen on the video?

Okay...i have a craazy idea..but I will put it out there anyway.

Could the BF have called a taxi to get her when he knew he was running late?

Cab driver comes, explains the situation to Sam, she goes quietly until things go south?

Maybe the police asked BF not to give this part of the info. because of other cases involving taxi drivers, etc.?

Please be gentle if this doesn't make sense!

They know who the taxi driver is in the other case and I think they would be waterboarding this guy if the B/F said Sam was getting picked up by a taxi.

I seriously doubt any taxi company in the area is going to let this guy drive for them after the sexual assault incident. In the article is stated he drove for Alaska Yellow Cab so we know he doesn't owns his own taxi.

They say the abductor walked up to the coffee stand and that they walked away together, so I definitely don't think a cab pulled up unless they have mislead us about that, which is possible because nobody's seen the video but LE and the shop owners, as far as we know. BUT, is it possible her bf told her he was calling her a cab because he was stuck at work? Sure, it could be.....because other than what the bf has said publicly (which isn't much) about talking to Sam that night, we don't know what he actually said to her on the phone. Maybe if she thought a cab was coming, if someone knocked on the door she would have just opened it. I don't think even 1/2 of what LE knows has been made public, and I wouldn't be surprised if mis-information has even been put out there so the perp thinks they don't know as much as they do.

I'm not really willing to discount any theories at this point!

If the security cameras picked up the kidnapper approaching the shack, and leaving with Samantha, I's speculate they got the BF arriving to pick her up on security video, too. His reaction / actions when she wasn't there are what probably have rendered him a non-POI.

That is a WAG.

There is just way too much tie in to this being gang related to dismiss. Dad moves for his and other's security. Nobody has reported Dad acts in a paranoid, irrational manner. Lemme quote 'ol Lynyrd Skynyrd here: "There's things going on that we don't know."

Could this be more indication that this is gang-related thing? Who else would he be afraid of? If this were just some random abduction would he really fear retaliation from the perpetrator?

That was my thought too z560, I mean what else is he referring to?
Mr. Koenig has revealed more to us by making vague comments, than APD has in all their press releases put together.

Also thinking about his comment regarding vigilantes the other day. Is something escalating behind the scenes?:waitasec:

Missing Alaska barista's father sets up mail box for tips

If actions speak louder than words, I wouldn't call Dad's move to set up a tip mail box a vote of confidence in the Police. All indications are he is on his own as far as finding this girl.

Who's watching the watchman?

He's seemingly trying to appeal to those that for whatever reason may not want to go to the police, either because they personally do not like/trust LE, or because they are scared of what will happen to them if whoever did this finds out. He definitely seems to be throwing out indications that there may be some scary people involved in this.

dillysmom-thanks!
joefriday-thats exactly what i meant. something that would set off a siren, not like a silent alarm a bank would have.
also, doesnt alaska have a lot of missing women? maybe the police think they have a human trafficking situation (or a serial killer) here, and are trying to avoid spooking the kidnapper(s). sorry if that sounds off the wall.

There was a different cab driver that raped someone in 2010 than the one in the articles I linked before.

Once the applicant passes the background check and receives the chauffeur’s license, the cab driver is an independent contractor and does not necessarily answer to a supervisor.

“Anchorage doesn't have any cab companies,” Fraser said. “All Anchorage has is dispatch companies. Checker and Yellow are dispatch companies. They don't own any cabs. They don’t employ any drivers.”

This caused an outcry from the people of Anchorage that they wanted a ban on sex offenders being able to have a license to drive cabs. Thus a law proposal in September 2011.
http://www.thenewstribune.com/2011/09/28/1843436/cab-drivers-accused-of-rape-can.html
The Anchorage Assembly voted 10-1 Tuesday night in support of a law change that makes it easier to suspend the chauffeur's license of a person charged by police with sexual assault.

The law proposal came AFTER the cases and only one has been convicted so one still has his license as he has not gone to court yet.

BINGO, you nailed it! Is this a real or perceived indication?
Tips come directly to him, no LE involvement. In addition, if she is recovered ALIVE, he will set this person up with a brand new life out of State ...

Who indeed?

I wonder if the person on the video, while not recognizable, wore very recognizable gang apparel and that is why the worry of "vigilante" justice or tainting a jury.

Not only is he offering a "brand new life out of state", but he is guaranteeing protection.....

I thought I was keeping up pretty well, but I didn't see any media link to the statement bolded above.

Could you please tell me where it was found?

TIA

I wonder why the business owner called in the missing person report, and not the boyfriend. Didn't he wonder where she was all night?

Not just the boyfriend but her dad too. The boyfriend & Sam's dad searched all night & called her phone til 5:00 am according to what I read. It may be in this thread, if not I'll search for it. I still thought it was odd, though, bc I know I'd have called the cops right away. Seems strange. Maybe she's stepped out before wiggling letting somebody know where she was? Idk. Was she a drug user? Could that maybe explain a hesitancy?

Sam has no court records pertaining to drugs. I checked others involved and didn't find anything either for drug charges(JK & CB). I don't know the B/F's last name so I couldn't run him.

All I ever read was that her dad called her all night until her phone either died or was turned off. I never saw anything about her boyfriend calling at all, past him calling to let her know he was on her way to pick her up, and I definitely don't know anything about either one searching for her that night.....if you can find the link, I'd love to read it b/c I've been wondering since the beginning about what her bf did after he arrived to pick Sam up and she was gone, and it would answer lots of questions....

Which leads to wondering how he would achieve a guarantee like that?

I'd like to put out an informal poll, curious to see where everyone's opinion lies.

Who?

Why?

Will she be found alive?

And "what the H?"
How on earth could her father guarantee protection?
Any why does he seem to be taking charge of this case, instead of LE?
