I do have a question for you Isamom since you know the family:
What are your thoughts about what happened to Sam?

Maziree-
I honestly can't say my exact thoughts. I have a few theories. There are a few things I do not understand. I wish APD would release the video or a still shot. I mean their statement of tainting a jury is a bunch of bs to me.
I do believe she was abducted, the motive I do not know. I am at a loss at this point and wish something would give. I do not believe CB did it. Do I think he knows something, maybe, but not sure.
There are things that do not make sense to me... hopefully when she is found it all will.

I know, it's kinda weird. A person close to Sam that helps with her site gave the most updated description... but I'm confused as to why the APD didn't, I mean afterall they saw the surveillance footage. Ya know?

I do...
I also wonder about her locking the door. What kind of lock does it have, I wonder? A simple, turn the little thingy on the inside of the door, and when you shut it from the outside it's locked, or a deadbolt that she would have needed to lock with a key from the outside. This is also something I would think they saw on the video. If there's a deadbolt, and it was locked, I find it weird that the abductor would want her to/let her lock up...kind of like I thought it would be odd if he wanted her to/let her gather her thinks before they left. Those things would just keep them at the abduction scene longer.

snark=not good
attacking the poster not the post=not good

Several things got me thinking on this. Someone mentioned up thread about maybe she was doing a drug deal and let them in or she thought it was her boyfriend and didn't look out to see who it was before she opened the door. I don't know what to think it. There is no mention that he kicked the door in either.

A friend of mine was driving around Anchorage the other day and at another stand, The young lady working there left the door open when she took the trash out. I truly hope the girls up there take more of a precaution..

I can drive by there and look if you think it would really be helpful. I hesitate because if it isn't a very secure lock I don't want to advertise that fact. Maybe someone else can chime in?

Knowing whether or not the "perp" knocked or the door was unlocked would help alot. If he knocked, it would also help to know if the window in that door gets covered as part of the "boarding up" process at closing.....

I see your point about advertising! They have good surveillance (from what I saw of it on Common Grounds website), an alarm system (which was NOT set) and a panic button. I'd be willing to bet there's a deadbolt. Just can't figure why you'd think to lock the door or why the perp would let you/want you to. They did say the door was locked when the am shift showed up in the morning, but the alarm was not set.

That has always been my biggest question as well. MD, the owner, said in an interview the next day that her belongings were not left behind, which was one of the reasons there "were no red flags" as she said. So it just looked like a sloppy close, she forgot to set the alarm and ... but wait! The money's missing too. So, if her belongings were left behind, money's missing, the alarm's not set, half-made cups of coffee left on the counter..
#1. Why was that not a red flag?? According to at least one of the girls who came in the next morning, (KJ) they DID immediately know something was wrong. So why was the owner claiming "no red flags"??

#2. Why did MD, the owner, lie about her belongings?
#3. DT said, when he arrived to pick her up and she was gone, "It was just a mess." Was he referring to the situation? Or the actual shop? If he meant the shop, what did that mean?? Did he just look through the window and see the coffee on the counter and consider that a mess? And if he was referring to the situation, why would he say her not being there was "a mess"?? And why wouldn't he have gone directly to her house to see if she'd somehow gotten a different ride home? And then spoke to Sam's dad, who by then had realized something was very wrong.. SO WHY WASN'T APD CALLED THAT NIGHT?? Why did it take them until noon the next day?
SO many things do not add up.

What made the rant including MP interesting was the fact that only AFTER that did CB's mom mention the info MP purportedly turned over to the lawyer regarding theft and drugs. MP was not mentioned by CB or his mom prior to that. So, what made JK include MP? Did he already know MP had gone to the lawyer with information?

I wondered about this as well. The timing of everything seems to indicate he knew...

Does anyone have a link to the interview with the owners? I haven't been able to find that again. Was that the same interview when the bf stated "things were a mess." I was thinking so but can't remember and can't find the clip.

Is it possible, that she was abducted by aliens and teleported?

  • #192
Also- great questions.
IMO it does not make sense why the owner would lie about her belongings. I believe whoever was AT the coffee shop first thing in the morning knows the truth.
Why that story is obviously being changed back and forth is WEIRD.

I'll go grab some links for this, but IIRC, she went missing on Wednesday. The owners said "there were no red flags" until they looked at the video on Thursday and then they knew something was wrong. I'm not certain if LE came, and then they looked at the video, or if the owner's looked at the video after maybe a call from JK or someone, and then called LE. LE did not classify it as an abduction until Friday. They say there's something on that video that seems she was taken against her will, then why a full day between seeing the video and classifying it as an abduction?

ETA I see from a link I posted below here that the owners say they called LE becasue of what they saw on the video. If there were no red flags, what made them look at the video? Sooo confuuuuused.

Sam had just started this job recently correct? How did she get the job? I mean, was it publicly posted as help wanted, are the owners family friends who were doing her a favor by making a spot for her-- was she waiting for someone else to get fired so she could get the position for herself?

When reading this portion a thought came to me. I'm not sure how it all went down, but perhaps whoever opened didn't notice anything strange IF her belongings were gone and things were just somewhat messy. Then they go to open the register and find the money missing. Whoever was working that morning calls the owners and they immediately come in to watch the video to see what happened to the money and find the abduction. IMO

That is also the first and only time I've seen JK mention thinking about looking for a body.

"The first baristas didn't see anything we haven't seen before (with other employees)," Tyler Duncan said. "It just looked like she did a real poor job of closing." (From the ADN article)

This differs completely from what KJ, the opening barista, reported:

"(KJ) works with Koenig and said right away she knew something was wrong..." (From the KTUU video)

Also..check this out..

http://lostnmissing.posterous.com/update-missing-samantha-koenig-18-anchorage-a

I cannot find this entire article on ADN anymore. Can they remove or edit articles?

The Duncan basically say, 1- the perp was very intentional about not being caught. 2- The video shows Samantha and the perp walking away. 3- They are unsure of if it was by choice or force that she left.

THEN LE sees the SAME video and makes a report that it was an abduction with a weapon and changes it from suspicious missing person to abduction Friday afternoon.

RIGHT.. I forgot about that. JK definitely learned something after that which led him to believe she was still alive. There was a point when the page started overflowing with renewed hope, it seemed to me.. all these requests for tips, saying "we know someone saw something"..
