I understand their reasons for not showing the tape....but I also think that if they did, maybe the public could help find this guy. Isn't the most important thing having her home safe? If they would have released even a sketch, someone would recognize him, Anchorage isn't that large.

I have only briefly followed Samantha's case here and there. I have the general gist of what happened here.

I too wonder why they have not released even a still shot of the video surveillance. I have followed many cases, and the video still shots have been very effective in bringing in tips and helping to solve the case. I could name many of these, but I am sure that you have followed them too. Why not release something since this case seems to be at a standstill?? :waitasec:

Yeah...I guess an actual search would be kind of pointless really.

They should at least release a screenshot of the abductor's face if its on the video. Someone would surely recognize him.

Didn't LE say that he never showed his face on the video?
I still think it is possible someone could recognize a person without seeing their face, JMO.

I totally agree! I think it's interesting the way IMO the wording of things coming from LE has changed tone. Early on they made a comment to the effect of each day that passes makes it harder to solve. Now they seem a lot more optimistic to me.

I also felt that the comment about him "being privy to all the details and feeling she's alive" was really telling. He didn't just say he thinks she's alive- he said because he knows the details of the investigation he thinks she's alive...

Just my opinion.

I would think that there is a reason behind not releasing it to the public...(aside: in other cases I have seen LE say were showing things to the public if it would help for public to have that knowledge to solve the case...

I think something else is going on that we don't know about in the investigation... )

I definitely agree there is a huge missing piece to the puzzle that we don't know.

As far as I know the family has not seen the video. JK said in the press conference that he is given the same information the rest of us are.

I'm pretty sure I read that James had not seen it either. That seems quite odd...if my child were missing I'd be demanding to see it so I could give any help possible! I've been picking my wee brain trying to figure out what could possibly be on there that's keeping them from releasing it.

This is the biggest reason I believe they already know who it was. JK doesn't seem like someone who would just sit quietly by if he wanted to see the video and they were denying him that. He's publicly said he understands why they aren't showing it and agrees. That's very telling, I think.

But I also think that if he knew who it was he would have slipped and said by now.

2 things have been cleared up from JK that have been asked here, on the video below:

Sam and Duane were sharing the truck. He dropped Sam off then went to work a couple hours later.

JK works as a driver (would not say where) his position has been filled until this is resolved and his job is waiting for him.

Even if LE knew or believed they knew who had taken Samantha, how would they know or have evidence to believe she was alive, if they cannot locate her? I am a skeptic when LE says that, mostly due to Kyron's case, as they said they had no evidence he was NOT alive for many many months, yet the searching said otherwise, and now, they don't say much of anything at all...

I do not believe he has been. I agree something else is going on that we dont know about as well! It is so promising to here they have reason to think she is still alive. I think that is wonderful news.

I think one reason may be also that he is the Dad and so emotionally distraught at this point, if they did show him and he did recognize the person he might take matters into his own hands... I dont know. I just know that if it were some of the Dads I know and they figured out who it was they probably would be out hunting them down? Just my opinion, or that is a reason I have thought of as well.

Yes, he would not identify where he works, which is smart on his part.

But I heard him say he "used" to be a truck driver, had to quit for health reasons?

He also told the reporter that he does not lead the type of lifestyle which could or would put his family at risk.

Not a biggie, where he works is at this point, inconsequential.
