Yes, but the cops might not make it public, not yet anyway. It would have been very hush hush.

If they did something that stupid involving a 18 year old girl they had better continue to keep it hush hush otherwise public hangings will be common place in Anchorage.

I'm curious as to why there has been no press conferences? Usually when someone is abducted they have one ... or two ? Most of the times they don't say much at all, but to not have one at all has me wondering? ?

Shelley Hilliard, a 19-year-old transgendered woman, agreed with police to set up a $335 drug deal in order to avoid being arrested for marijuana possession. This story illustrates how informant culture encourages dangerous decisions that are wildly disproportionate to the crimes involved. This young woman took a great risk to avoid the petty offense of marijuana possession, and police turned her into an informant, with all its attendant risks, in pursuit of another petty drug deal worth less than $400. Such important decisions--by individuals or police--should not be made so cavalierly. For example, Florida's "Rachel's Law" requires police to establish guidelines to determine when it is appropriate, or too dangerous, to turn a suspect into an informant. Rachel's Law was passed in response to the death of Rachel Hoffman, another young informant who was killed while setting up a drug deal. OMG that is appalling! I am absolutely disgusted that Police would stoop that low. Putting a 19 year old at that risk to avoid a weed possession charge? That's a bloody misdemeanor! How in God's name are people expected to respect a department if they use those kind of tactics?

Holy crap I am livid! Now I have to say from what I have read about the cops up there I wouldn't doubt it. Totally off topic but they have just had an investigation into a cop that was taking advantage of women (it's been in the papers) and one officer saw this guy on a desk with a woman and walked away. It may well be highly possible in that department.

The reason I wonder about this possible scenario is that SK had been driving CB around on his dope deals. That would make her privy to a whole lot of valuable info to the drug enforcement dept. She would probably know who was distributing/providing it to many of the smaller level dealers like CB and what their routines were. And she would know who his regular customers were. So if she got busted for something small, like possession or something, they might ask her to make a deal. But if ANYONE found out about her deal and leaked it, she would be in big danger.

The officer who saw him on the desk, is running for public office! Faith in the PD up here is almost non existant right now. Even during the rapist cops trial, a bunch of cops showed up to support him......ridiculous at best. I know some good cops, but public support of the PD has declined recently...

Poor JK. Although you think he would have known that remains had been found if they had an inkling that this could be Samantha before it showed on the news.

There is only one road going in, I'm guessing 12 miles of nothing before the lake, on the road at least. It's been dark here for hours, don't see how they just found a body out there. Maybe snowmachiners, but its still kinda late and dark for that, unless we're just hearing about it, but I doubt that because a lot of people are listening to the police scanners. There aren't many residents of Eklutna.

Yes, unfortunately this is sounding more reminiscent of the Joshua Wade case. Also, for those of you who are not local, Eklutna is/was an Indian village. Eklutna Lake is a popular recreational place in summer and winter.
