I contacted FOX10 tv from The Hometown Search page and got a reply. He is puzzled why he has received 3 emails about Brittney today! Anyway...my question is am I allowed to mention Webseluths to him? Is that a question for a moderator...and if so how do I do that? TIA!

I can hardly believe that a reporter has already responded to the email requests! That's great news! I had a feeling there'd be some response there. There might not be news from LE, but the family can bring the public up to date with what has happened, and possibly even more importantly, what hasn't happened!

While I realize this story has many elements that make it gossip-worthy, at this point, it seems like every detail known thus far has been hashed and rehashed until there really aren't any new spins that can come of it until we get more information. What really needs to happen now is getting the word out so that the few family members involved in the search have some volunteers helping them out. Remember there is a family divided so the typical extended family support is absent here.

Thanks again for all the support. I'm feeling overwhelmed with gratitude.

I couldn't agree more. There are so many elements in this case, especially within the family dynamics, that are preventing progress. If The mystery surrounding BW is going to be solved, then it is going to take the assistance of outsiders. Everyone's input concerning reasons for the lack of coverage and lack of urgency, provided insightful recommendations that will hopefully lead more efficient actions and new developments. Now that we have zeroed in on logical and detailed explanations for the case being static, we can tackle them! That is whats so great about this group... We all have various backgrounds and can contribute various angles which can be tied together for one common goal: to find BW. Even if I only know yall through WS, I'm still really proud to know you ...and I really mean it!

Great group of people and I am glad I stumbled on this website a week or so ago (it seems like a year ago )!! I know last night i got a bit snappy about people asking questions that have already been answered and I would like to apologize. Somehow I got myself really involved and after days and hours of reading posts and fb pages and all the twists and turns in this story, I got a little frustrated. I, like many others, feel someone holds the answers to so many questions and just isnt talking. Sorry if I upset anyone. I am very glad people have joined me in contacting the media and that they are responding....hopefully BWs story will be on the news again soon!!

i guarantee that is not the reason. the media is not ignoring the story at all. when there is an update on BW it is reported. the media is not protecting DK because he has a famous nephew.

Be sure to include Jackson County and George County of MS in those fax lists (Cities of: Ocean Springs, Gautier, Pascagoula, Moss Point, Hurley & Lucedale). BW has a number of FB connections in both areas and they are 20-60 miles from Mobile.

Today I passed thru Grand Bay on our day trip to Dauphin Island, I thought of Brittney and said a quick prayer. I am praying for her mom and family daily. If one of my girls were missing I would not be able to get out of bed. My heart breaks for her mom especially and I hope there is some kind of resolution soon.

I believe I have read all posts in every thread and have not seen mention that on RSWs fb page he makes a comment about trouble waiting in the wings (my words) for him. Sorry cant link from this phone. :-/ So he knew the arrest was a possibility?????

We did discuss that previously and yes I certainly believe he knew that possible prosecution was coming.

We all know that often the perp gets involved with searches etc and this could very well be the case with RSW. My thoughts though are that he seemed desperate to find BW, more desperate than other family members and from all I have seen they were not even very close, they were not FB friends & I have not seen any pics of them together etc. I just wonder if there is a reason for his intense searching that we have not thought of.. not sure what but I find his interest in the search very intriguing knowing what we know now.

Same here, except it could be the relative (RSW) who was very proactive with his find brittney campaign via FB. Otherwise, I dunno either.

I would also like to say that I think LE, in some cases, is in a similar position. This is only my uninformed personal opinion. So take it with a grain of salt. They do not have the money nor the staff to spend a long time on one case. This case likely has cost police departments and their respective cities a lot of money. And it's difficult for them to continue with that when they hit a roadblock. So the case goes from active with 10 officers involved to semi-active with two officers involved.

I believe limited resources and lack of funding could be a big factor in Mobile Co. but not in Baldwin Co. Locals will know this, so I'm just sharing it for those who may be unfamiliar with our area. Baldwin Co. is not lacking in financial resources in any area of operation. Sure, these are "hard times" and some officials will play that for what it's worth (like when they want to hike our property taxes for the schools even as property values are declining in some areas) but Baldwin Co., as an entity, is wealthy.

it has something to do with part of the family has done some good things in the community and apparently it is thought the media/LE doesnt want to stomp on someones toes.

This is very much speculation on my part but...
Thinking about tjis last night reminded me that there have been several child pornography/sexual. Abuse or attempt for solicitation of minors lately in the Mobile and Baldwin Co. areas. Like to the tune of at least one a month since the start of the year. Someone's comment that the men involved in this " aren't the ring leaders " got me to thinking that that may be a reason its not more highly reported. What if it is, in fact, an actual ring? Could this be the proverbial "iceberg"?


Just a thought.

There were two arrests just last week in Saraland (this is Mobile Co. for those who don't know, just a few minutes north of Mobile) of young adults producing and disseminating child pornography. This is not at all uncommon but LE have said they are working some type of special project right now where they are rounding these perverts up. No reported association to BW and I doubt there is but it makes you wonder what that ice berg is and I do trust that LE would not have said that without a very good reason, especially considering that it was Baldwin Co. LE who made that statement. Obviously, they are investigating whatever it is that led them to make that statement.

I respectfully disagree. The local Mobile daily (for now) newspaper has completely ignored the arrest of DK and RSW. It's not been underreported. It's been not reported at all. The bi-weekly arts and entertainment rag is the only paper to cover the arrests, and that was one line in a followup of BW's disappearance.

They have reporters who cover arrest reports from MPD and BCSO. I'm absolutely sure they know of the arrests, but they are not reporting. As for it not being news, page 2 last week had a story about two guys arrested for stealing copper wire. That was on Page 2 of the A section.

Absolutely true. I can not believe I have not realized this. I don't read the newspaper and now it makes sense why some of the people I have spoken to haven't even heard a word about her uncle's being arrested. They have heard about DH, but not RSW or DK. Wow, some things are starting to make sense now.

I very respectfully disagree. This isn't any 'ole stinking nephew, not in these here parts!!! FWIW, I have deep respect for his nephew. I could say alot about the good he has done for a family that I personally know, but I guess this isn't a part of what we are supposed to be talking about here.

One more thing that may be influencing the media coverage right now is that on Monday morning Mobile is making a major and important announcement about AIRBUS committing to build a manufactering facility there. AIRBUS is going to build a commercial airline plant that is going to bring thousands of jobs to Mobile and will bring billions (and billions) of dollars into the city. There is a lot of hoopla going on right now and Mobile is full of all kinds of VIPs from the government and private industry. I imagine they will be downplaying all bad news of any kind for a little while.

All the more reason for us to let the media know we want to hear about Brittney. I wrote to each outlet and told them I just want to see Brittney's face out there on the news, I want to hear from her family, and I want them to use their influence to put pressure on anyone who knows anything about Brittney's whereabouts to come forward, especially anyone who may have given her a ride that evening.

The news trashes "famous" people all the time for things they do and in this case "he" didnt do anything....his uncle did. So I have to tend to disagree that the press is avoiding talking about DK because of his nephew. JMO

I hope you are right, but it really makes me pause. I don't know that they would completely ignore any big news that LE may come out with in the future. No, I don't think they would do that. But I do believe it would influence them to not be asking the questions that we want the media to be asking. I think it may influence them to not do any investigative reporting, if that even still exists. Our media would never trash his nephew. That would be horrible, and that would never happen.

At this point, the uncles shouldn't matter at all... we just want Brittney's face out there for the public to see and keep seeing.
