I agree the most likely scenario by far is that VW was a voluntary accomplice. And I agree with many here that the strongest theory is she believed they had fallen in love.

Because the person CW confessed to killing (Connie Ridgeway) was a witness in another court case at the time and because CW claimed he was hired to kill her, though, I myself still leave a tiny bit (emphasis on tiny bit) of room that CW could be tied into criminal networks. And that if he is a part of a bigger network, others could have a stake in helping him escape, including (long shot) gathering info on VW’s fam to use to threaten her.
I think the witness angle is a dead-end in the Connie Ridgeway murder. She was not a witness to anything. She was a member of the grand jury investigating a financial crimes case, not any kind of witness. The only reason to kill a grand jury member is if you have control over who is going to replace her, obviously the replacement being on your side. And that implies friends in high places. And high stakes.

I'm just not seeing that here. jmo

They don't have many options. Carjacking and or taking over someone's RV and or camper would be options if it were me. He is huge, and hard to hide that. I would put all campgrounds on high alert as the weather is good and he has attacked and killed before. Someone could be missing and carjacked already and we don't know. It would be easy to enter a campground at night and kill owners and take their ride and belongings.
Yes! Reminds me of this tragic case:

Timeline reveals how jail deputy may have helped murder suspect escape (msn.com)

According to this article, VW had been planning her retirement for three or four months and Friday was to be her last day at work. Selling her house could have been part of a normal plan to retire to Florida or someplace else.

In my opinion, there had to be at least one more person involved on the outside. Someone had to have another vehicle of some kind waiting for them. The patrol car was ditched too close to the jail for them not to have another form of transportation ready. Also, they didn't know how long they had before a BOLO went out and locals, police, etc. would be looking for them. He stands out because of his size and the two together are too easily recognized. Having someone else to drive them while they stayed out of sight would be a real plus. That someone could have been threatening to harm VW's mother or other relative to get her to cooperate. This went too smoothly for it not to be preplanned and prepared for. If they had a stocked RV or similar vehicle, they could be out in the middle of nowhere. They wouldn't need a campground.

I agree the more likely explanation is that they believe they are in love. However, I’ve read several articles that do say she was a witness NOT a member of the jury.

“On Wednesday, our crews sat down with Lauderdale County District Attorney Chris Connolly to talk about the possible motive behind Connie Ridgeway’s death five years ago.

This was after the district attorney’s office held a joint press conference with the sheriff’s office on Tuesday to let the public know that Casey Cole White is now charged with two counts of capital murder for Ridgeway’s death.

What investigators are working to figure out now is a possible motive. According to District Attorney Connolly, White said he was paid to do it.

‘That’s the unknown about this point is the claim that he was paid to do it,’ Connolly said. ‘We have certainly looked at the angle because she was a witness in a grand jury unrelated proceeding that was going on at that time.’

From the press conference.

Sheriff Rick Singleton says the media has been a "tremendous asset" in the efforts to locate missing inmate Casey White and corrections officer Vicki White.

"We did have one success. We see the patrol car parked at the intersection of Huntsville Road and Cox Creek Parkway, which is about 2 blocks from the location it was found. That video was timestamped 9:49 a.m."

"That's 8 minutes timespan" since they left the detention center.

"The other thing that I want to make you aware of today: We have had a warrant issued for Director Vicki White. The charges are permitting or facilitating escape in the first degree."

Both individuals are to be considered dangerous. Now classified as a Major Case with the USMS.

They found one surveillance-camera sighting that shows that they went straight from the jail to the place that the patrol car was parked—no room in the timeline for going some place else.

They consider both Whites dangerous. Warrant out for VW’s arrest, for facilitating CW’s escape.

I also heard on the newscast linked below that the day she disappeared was Vicky’s last day on the job before retiring.

Press conference update: They did say the employee who allowed VW to transport CW likely didn’t question it because VW was his boss. And also VW was in charge of organized transportation.

They know VW participated and have issued a warrant but the spokesperson told a reporter they could not rule out whether she had been coerced or threatened in any way.

The spokesperson also confirmed what I posted above that the day VW left was her last day to work before retiring. They thought she sold her house because she talked about going to live on a beach somewhere.

He was brought to the County lockup on February 25th.

Retirement papers were never forwarded to retirement system. Her last day of employment was supposed to be that Friday.

CW arrived at the jail 2/25/22.

Yes. Or they could have an unregistered large vehicle (van or camper etc.) stashed somewhere and she could’ve changed her hair color and be driving while he remains out of sight.

They don’t think the medical condition she mentioned on Friday was real.

Yes. What convinces me that it was very voluntary is she wasn’t married. No kids, right? She had her mom. She’s sort of an average lady. 56 years old. I think she was lonely. A guy showed her attention. She fell for it. It’s strange to me how that happens to a professional with that many years experience.

But desperation can drive a person to do things they wouldn’t normally do.

I wonder how long this has been planned? Must have been a while if they are confident enough to pull something like this off. They clearly feel they are going to get away with this. It's BONKERS to me that she would risk her retirement and freedom for that man. I hope that he doesn't decide that she has outlived her usefulness and disposes of her.
