The timeline is off. The sheriff states they left the jail at 9:41 and video captured them at the intersection at the shopping center 8 minutes later at 9:49 implying they headed directly to the shopping center. But the sally port camera clearly shows them pull out of there at 9:31. So it was 18 minutes, not 8. Certainly time for a stop somewhere in those extra 10 minutes.

So either the sally port camera is wrong (no surprise) or the sheriff is wrong (also no surprise). jmo

Good catch. No surprise here either. Do you think there would be an additional checkpoint in the parking lot or on the way out that could’ve held her up? Of course if there was, that would just mean yet another checkpoint failed to stop them from breaking policy. Which would also be no surprise.;)

Possibly pulled over to help him get out of restraints. Or a food /drink stop (though I'm betting she had all that stashed in the other car). Maybe she cruised around trying to evade cameras until that last one. JMO

They were spotted in Rogersville so initially they were headed east. If they want to skip the country I doubt they’d head for Canada as it’s as expensive as the US and rural Alabama money wouldn’t last long. Mexico is the better bet if they want their funds to last a while.

Any ideas as to who will portray these two when the made for TV comes out???

Kristin Chenoweth and Joe Manganiello. Might as well make it a musical.

I don’t think they could use their passports even if they had them. Would have to be stolen IDs or an illegitimate border crossing.
Agreed. There are ways to cross into Canada I imagine, along some remote tree-lined border or a lake on the off-chance they could obtain a boat. More likely Mexico, as in do they even check on the way into the country?

ETA If they are not already across some border, I'd say it gets more difficult now as more are watching for this.

Uhhh, what about my use of words bothered you? I hope there was no offense taken by my post?
oh no, no, no... i was just kidding........ you said he is calling all the SHOTS...
Having lived in Florida for 15 years, it is a magnet for criminals, fugitives and all sorts of odd people, however it has become so heavily populated and expensive, that I don’t think going there would be a smart move for them. I think it’s more likely that all the talk of Florida was to make LE focus there. It would make much more sense to me that they headed to heavily forested mountain areas where you might be able to rent a secluded cabin. JMO

I agree on most of what you stated.... her 95K won't even go very far, even if RENTING here in Florida!! But I just have a hard time seeing this guy hiding out in seclusion... Just doesn't seem like his style... I guess I hope the ex-girlfriend is now in witness protection! If he gets rid of Vicki... he could still try to get revenge.

I just hope he loves her, too.

I know there are remote places to cross into Canada which are West of me. When I cross into U.S. there are 3 ways I can cross. Depending where I am going. 2 are bridges and 1 is a ferry. Each way takes a photo of your car/plate and they scan your passport. I think they would be foolish unless they try a remote crossing out West.

I hope the FBI is scouring the papework submitted for the pension. Looking for any contact information. I wonder if they would distribute it by a bank transfer that could be traced.

If she intended to cash out, it's important to get ahold of the contact information and stop any cash distribution.

It might be a couple hundred thousand dollars. If they don't have access to that money, things will get ugly much faster.

With all the planning, why wasn't this one set up better... She sold the house 5 weeks ago... less than market value, i read somewhere. I am wondering if this escape plan "got moved up"... why would she leave the retirement benefits dangling....

She has been planning this for a while (MOO). They have a destination in mind and a plan for how to live on cash for a long time.

LE just needs time to figure out what she set-up and what she put in place under which names and they will find them.

She isn't a criminal mastermind and neither is he.

She may have visited this hiding place before, it will be in her search history, her location history on her phone...etc... they will find it, it just takes time.

South of the border doesn't make a whole of of sense for a blond women and 7 foot tall man to be inconspicuous.

There are too many cameras and too many officers looking out for that car to be just driving around the country.
I was thinking the same thing about her phone history. I'll bet the U.S. Marshal's are going over every bit of it. Hopefully they will find some tidbits that will be useful.

Yeah.... I have un-thunk the Mexico plan for the same reason.... Further West? I wonder where the tattoos are on his body... they may not be easy to hide... but would probably fit right in in the northern Western states.... just babbling here. I still think trying to get out of the country would be plan 3.0.... Canada???????

Lori Vallow is about the same height. Maybe if she gets out............

And Vicki is not really THAT short.... 5'5" will not stand out as "short"... only if she is with him.....

I agree, the remote Texas or New Mexico areas might be the safest bet. Amtrak goes from Michigan to Canada — and when I’ve rode (many times), they’ve always waited until I was already in my seat to come by and take a quick look to make sure the name on my ID matches my ticket. The conductors are often in a rush and people are getting off and on and looking for seats, so there’s opportunity to slip by. Here’s what Amtrak says they’d take as IDs to get across (US-Canada Border Crossing Guidelines for Amtrak Train Travelers):

US Citizens 16 and Over
  • United States Passport, or
  • United States Passport Card, or
  • Trusted Traveler Card (NEXUS, FAST or SENTRI), or
  • Enhanced Driver's License (issued by Washington State, Minnesota, Michigan, New York and Vermont only), or
  • Enhanced Learner's Permit, or Enhanced State ID card
(Temporary enhanced driver’s licenses/learner’s permits/state or provincial ID cards are not
accepted. The traveler must have the permanent license/permit/card.), or
  • Merchant Mariner Document, or
  • Military ID with Military orders, or
  • Form I-872, American Indian Card
  • Amish and Mennonite Old Order only:
    - copy of birth certificate, and
    - signed copy of IRS form 4029, application for exemption from Social Security and Medicare taxes and waiver of benefits.

In the video where he is walking down the corridor in front of the deputy, it looks to me that he is either retrieving something from up his sleeve or placing something up the sleeve.
In the video where they are exiting out of the sally port, I don’t think that she was at all nonchalant. To me she looked in a real hurry to get out of there - rushing out the door, barely holding it open for him and almost impatient with how long it is taking him to get in the vehicle.

Does anyone know where the orange car was from when VW bought it until it was staged at the parking lot the night before? It seems she would have needed someone else to drop her off to buy the car or pick her up from the parking lot.

There may have been a scramble with him being in Lauderdale County Jail for a very limited time, like I'm not sure if this would have been his last day.

If she fooled everyone who knew her, the woman knows how to work secretly. "The silence and stealth of a hungry cat". She could have been setting up lots of things way in advance of their departure. We have seen plenty of law enforcment folks who have the most criminal minds!!!
Now I really do want to know how far back their relationship goes.
Could she "hide" everything with second phones, or alias's??

And still am befuddled about her attempting to set up the retirement monies....
