I’m not understanding how LE knows about the weapons they ‘may’ have. As of today, they ‘may’ have a shotgun, AR15, and several handguns. How would they know this?

The shotgun and rifle are hers, in assuming she has them legally registered and the investigation has realized they are missing.

Maybe they also found evidence of her setting up private purchases of handguns, but just haven't been able to verify yet.

That's helpful! I also wish people would quit referring to her as fat. 65" and 145lbs isn't very large at all. I'm that height and wore a size 2 at that weight. I do think maybe she had recently lost weight because she does appear a bit heavier in the older pics. She also has a full face that might make people think "fat chick", but that's not necessarily true for everyone.

How does that happen? How does no one in the system find that odd? How is it even allowed by the department or the jail?
Even jail employees are allowed to visit friends/family in prisons. Now of course when that friend/family shows up at YOUR jail, you report that obviously and arrangements are made. Unless that would have made things inconvenient for a certain someone. jmo

Apparently "My Cousin Vinny" wasn't entirely a work of fiction. Tight ship they're running there.

Right now, I doubt that they have anyone else helping them. No one to help them is no one to turn them in.

She didn’t seem to have any trouble setting up an alias or two, a getaway car, a small arsenal, an escape plan, financing for a while, at least.
It’d be easy to assemble food—so the only thing left on the list is housing, and I’d think that’d be fairly simple.

Well she was visiting him at the state pen and they SHOULD have much more strict guidelines for inmate visitors than they would have at county/municipal jails, especially small rural jails.

I'm going to try to see if I can find out the requirements for visitors at that specific prison.

I have the feeling that after yesterday's accidental information leak, the jail tour is going to be about the only news we get until they are found....

We will only hear new news if LE needs the public's help.

JMO
And I do think they need the public's help.

Many, if not most, LE personnel have firearms/handguns at home. Legally. A check of VW's gun registrations would have revealed personal firearms. And if those firearms are not in her residence, where are they? LE has to assume she has them with her along with the AR-15 and shotgun she just bought. It would be dumb to assume otherwise. jmo

ETA: If they ran a check on me they'd find 3 handguns. If they were after me and they searched my house and those handguns are not here of course they would assume I took them with me when I went on the run.

She must have paid w/a cc. Either that, or a vendor may have contacted LE after seeing her face on the news. Don't they have a more definitive statement by now, than "may have..."?
I thought someone linked an article yesterday saying that LE knows now, that she bought the AR-15 and shotgun recently. IOW that those two items weren't in her prior-existing home collection. Someone set me straight if I've got that wrong, please.

It looks like in person visits were stopped in the Alabama DOC for almost 2 years, which just ended in November 2021. That means she probably wasn't going in person unless it was in an "official" capacity. Maybe she was doing video visits with him instead. Those would be easier to get away with, I would think?

Alabama to resume prison visitations with restrictions

<modsnip>

How long does everyone suppose this case will go on for? I can see how releasing the car info may have set them back but the public being able to keep their eyes out for it now would be helpful too I'd think?

I think it means likely has. Like they know she bought it and they know she didn’t leave it behind. But no one has actually seen it in their car or anything.:)

I may be dead wrong, but even with VW's seemingly meticulous planning of this caper, with as many eyes as are on this case, I don't believe they are gone very long. I'm looking for a bust in the next few days.

I'm guessing all of her pre-jail break purchases were for cash. Harder to trace.

I've been thoroughly enjoying all the jokes being made here and there. It's nice to not follow such a horribly depressing case for once, and to also see how witty some of you are.

I don't think it's going to go on for long. I'm trying to think of a case where a convicted, violent felon made a jailbreak followed by a nationwide manhunt and actually got away. Anyone...?

I’m not so sure, especially with Sheriff Singleton <modsnip> leaking information to the press. As someone who has worked under him for a decade and a half, I have a feeling she knew that the local sheriff’s office wouldn’t be able to keep the progress of the investigation a secret and is using Singleton’s inability to keep quiet to stay one step ahead of LE. I would be surprised if they are apprehended within the next few days. MOO.

She now has to continue outsmarting LE of all varieties, the media, Facebook and other social media warriors, scanner eavesdroppers….oh and Websleuths peeps. Good luck staying out in front of all that.
