Evening ! First time poster so be gentle on me.
I’m fascinated by this case and have been following it from the UK. I personally think the relationship began before his first escape atttempt and wonder if she was involved and intended to be the ‘hostage’. Then the confession to the murder was for him to get back to where she is to try again. IMO she fed him some details of the murder to make his confession be believed just long enough to get him to her jail. I think VW has been manipulated and love bombed by CW and doesn’t see the huge danger she is in. I fear for LE and innocent members of the public if and when they are caught. I really feel they see themselves as Bonnie and Clyde and will go out in a hail of gunfire.

Welcome to Websleuths . There are a few posters from the U.K chatting here.

so where did the orange car info come from? was it the dealer who sold it to her? It had to be store somewhere by her did her old home have a garage? Did her mom have a garage or was she just out and about in it? Did she have another personal care? I just don't see her drivign around in this old car as her personal car.
It was a legal sale by the dealer. The rest of your questions have not been answered that I am aware of.

We all found out about the orange car through the leaked US Marshall flyer that had the info included. I don't believe we know yet much more, other than one article said she bought the car last week, if I recall correctly.

Now that I think about it, the other news story today also said she checked into a hotel room last week. I wonder if she was keeping the orange car there and someone from the hotel recognized it and reported it?

"I think all of our employees and myself included were really hoping that she did not participate in this willingly. But all indications are that she absolutely did," he added. "We're very disappointed in that because we had the utmost trust in her as an employee and as an assistant director of corrections."

Missing corrections officer 'willingly' participated in inmate's escape, sheriff says

I'm getting really tired of this sheriff trying to pin this whole thing on Vicky White, "trusted employee". That's not how it works, my dude.

I remember when I worked in federal prison sometimes wondering at the absolute number of nitpicky little rules in place. Then I realized that all these little (and big) rules were in place to create the maximum number of barriers between a prisoner being on the inside and a prisoner being on the outside. Vicky White would never have accomplished this jailbreak without the cooperation of a whole lot of other people violating all kinds of rules.

She did not do this alone. And the sheriff needs to start taking some accountability for setting the conditions where a single guard could jailbreak an inmate. Good grief. IMO

Welcome all new members. You have come to the dark side, but we do have cookies oh and wine :D

Two things I’m sure VW and CW want but don’t have ;)

Do we know what city/state the hotel room was in?

Excellent, excellent, excellent point

We can see with our own eyes the laxity that facility had and how easily those rules were broken.

Note that we have not heard from the Director of the facility. Vicky was the Assistant Director. So she managed to hide all this from a higher-up who was probably not minding the store.

Wow, this is a big mess! The recent purchase of the AR-15 and his white supremacist tattoos automatically makes me think there could be an intent for domestic terrorism. Authorities have mentioned a relationship but have been adamant that it was not romantic.

Political ideologies do make people do crazy things like throwing their lives, careers, and families away.

IMO

The jaw-dropping stupidity of participating in a jailbreak and then running away with a very large and dangerous criminal who has murdered before is mind-boggling, to say the least. She had a great job, money in the bank, and she's known him for only a short time... I don't get it. There is no amount of money or 'love' that would persuade me to do anything that would result in jail time. I agree with everyone who thinks there is not much of a chance that she gets out of this situation alive to explain herself, unfortunately. JMHO

We love who we love--- tall, small, murderer, businessperson, etc--- love doesn't wait or care if prison bars separate us. LOL. JMHO

Who is Casey White, the escaped Alabama murder suspect? - Fox News
<snipped & BBM>

Court records show he pleaded guilty to a 2010 domestic assault for attacking a male relative with an ax handle and received a sentence of six years in state prison.
"

Great work, citizen_sleuth,

Woah!!! Was the ax handle attack on the same brother that went missing on a walk into the woods (thread here on websleuths) OR, on ANOTHER male relative!?????

Holy cow. "NO moral checkpoint" says it all.

Terrifying.

That's an interesting set of pics.
There have been comments about the fact that she broke protocol by walking ahead of him on the way out, the last pics show that he was quite a way behind her, and around a corner out of sight from the outside, presumably no-one behind him.
I'd say that, at this stage there were only critical minutes to go between his 75 year sentence and freedom, and she went ahead of him in order to ensure that the coast was clear. The video camera would not matter as it did not know protocol, would not ask questions or try to stop them.
She could herself have taken steps to ensure that no-one was watching the camera nor placed where they would actually see them leaving, if anyone had been there and he had stepped outside ahead of her, they may well have started to ask questions.
The staff who knew she was taking him out to the court might not have been aware that she was taking him alone, they could justifiably assume that she had the necessary staff going with her, and then there was no-one there to see.

Them having the same last name probably contributed to the 'success' of this part.

Perhaps but isn’t anyone in the jail keeping track of who is visiting? Are you thinking they didn’t know who she was and maybe only now have realized she’s an unrelated deputy? .

I was at the beach today. Seriously I was. My Brother has a Beach House so off I went and had a nice long walk. Couldn't help but think of Vicki

I created a timeline. All subject to change :D

Vicky Sue Davis White - Florence AL, Assistant Director of Corrections, Lauderdale County Detention Center 56, 5’5”, 160 pounds, blonde/strawberry blonde hair, brown eyes, "waddling gait”, armed with AR-15 and shotgun

Casey Cole White - Florence, AL - Lauderdale County Detention Center Inmate, 38, 6’9”, 330 pounds, brown hair, hazel eyes, CW was being held at the Lauderdale County Jail awaiting trial on capital murder charges

VW told other officials on Friday, 4/29 morning that she was dropping CW off at the courthouse for a mental health evaluation and then she was going to a doctor to seek medical treatment for herself. VW had spent more than 15 years with the department, officials said, noting that Friday, 4/29 was supposed to be her last day of work before she retired.

1989 - VW Married

1991 - VW divorced

2015 - CW stabbed Connie Ridgeway to death

12/2/15 - CW broke into his ex-girlfriend’s home, killed her dog, and held her and two other people hostage- firing shots as they escaped. But that’s not all; after that, he stole a car, tried to hijack a trucker at gunpoint, and shot another woman whose car he also tried to steal in Tennessee. White peacefully surrendered that night. He was sentenced to 75 years in prison. While there, he confessed to the murder of Connie Ridgeway and was charged in 2020.

2020 - CW confessed to killing Connie Ridgeway. He gave details in the case that were never released to the public

January 2022 - VW’s ex-husband passed away

Jan - April 2022 - VW had been talking about her retirement for the past three to four months, had talked about visiting the beach

2/25 - CW transferred to Lauderdale County jail. He was to be returned to an Alabama prison later this month after attending court hearings.

April - CW was set to go to trial in April 2022, but trial was continued to June

4/18 - VW sold home in Lexington, Alabama - Lauderdale County for $95,550, moved in with her mother until she left with CW. VW never informed her mom of her planned retirement.

4/29 - Last seen on Friday in Rogersville, Alabama. About 30 minutes east of Lauderdale County. Driving a "gold/copper" 2007 Ford Edge with unknown Alabama plates.

4/29 - VW’s last scheduled day of work and was to retire

9:20 am - VW ordered a corrections deputy to get CW ready for transport to the courthouse around

9:41 am - VW and CW left detention center

9:49 am - patrol car seen at red light two blocks away from shopping center

11:34 am - Florence Police spotted the empty patrol car in a parking lot with other cars for sale

3:30 pm - Officials realized they could not locate VW and CW had not been returned to custody

5:30 pm - The U.S. Marshals were contacted to help with the investigation along with the FBI, ATF, Secret Service and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA)

4/29 - VW Warrant Issued - felony crime of permitting or aiding the escape (conflicting with 5/2)

5/1 - The US Marshals Service Offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of CW and VW

5/2 - VW Arrest Warrant Issued - permitting or facilitating escape in the first degree (conflicting with 4/29)

June - CW’s Capital Murder Trial (moved from April)
Great work as usual @Tippy Lynn

Thank you so much !!

Welcome and good morning/evening/afternoon/etc for all new members! :) WS has been great for me in keeping up to date with accurate info about this case, and many others!

Do we know what city/state the hotel room was in?
Nope, the reporter just dropped that tiny tidbit and didn't elaborate at all. It was almost like an afterthought that he added it in.

  • #459
Because of CW’s tattoos, I see the most logical way they are hiding out is to have been taken in by a group of white supremisists/survivalists. They could remain hidden indefinitely with them.
Or he could wear clothes that cover them?

Yes, that idea has been rolling around in my mind but I'm not sure how WS feels about borderline political type discussions so I didn't bring it up. I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking it, though.
