I'm just catching up on this and my head is spinning! How much actual cash could she have? Banks only disburse a certain amount at a time, simply because they don't have the physical cash. When did her home sell?

New York City here...please enlighten me...what is it about South Louisiana and/or Cajun culture that makes this so? Is it a "live and let live" kind of attitude? Is it a "mind my own business attitude?" A "see no evil" mindset?

I'm genuinely curious....TIA.

Also, I feel for my fellow Websleuthers here who are from the South and/or rural areas.
This entire situation is reminiscent of the very worst stereotypes of redneck good ole boy culture, or of small town inexperience.

I'm quite sure that there are thousands of LE working diligently and conscientiously in the South and small towns, and I truly wish this bungling did not reinforce the stereotype, but IMO it will.

NYC is a very different culture, but things go wrong here, too. Such as when Jeffrey Epstein was able to kill himself right here in the city, at the Metropolitan Correctional Center.

Jmo

I mean there's nothing here that's truly unique to the south. CW's tats of racist prison(?) gangs notwithstanding, those are sadly commonplace across the U.S.
The sheriff seems kind of small town but like you said, Jeffrey Epstein's suicide/murder happened in a NYC facility...

Lauderdale County Detention Center had a few escapes over the years.

2017

An inmate who broke the lock on a holding cell and escaped from the Lauderdale County Detention Center this weekend remains at large.

Inmate breaks cell lock, escapes Lauderdale County jail

2018

The safety of the Lauderdale County Detention Center has been an issue for years now. Many of the concerns with the jail stem from how it was originally built. The sheriff says the only way to solve those issues is to build a new one.

In the last year there have been three escapes from Lauderdale County Jail. One inmate escaped twice.

An Alabama sheriff said Wednesday that a jail official visited a murder suspect in prison before helping him escape last week and that her actions suggest their plan had been in the works for some time.

“We have confirmed that there were visits and that there was communication between the two of them when he was in prison and she was still working here,” Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton said.

Do prisoners have Covid 19 Vaccination cards?

Do prisoners have Covid 19 Vaccination cards?
I would imagine so if they chose to get vaccinated at that facility. A card would have been created for them upon release if they asked. jmo

Evening ! First time poster so be gentle on me.
I’m fascinated by this case and have been following it from the UK. I personally think the relationship began before his first escape atttempt and wonder if she was involved and intended to be the ‘hostage’. Then the confession to the murder was for him to get back to where she is to try again. IMO she fed him some details of the murder to make his confession be believed just long enough to get him to her jail. I think VW has been manipulated and love bombed by CW and doesn’t see the huge danger she is in. I fear for LE and innocent members of the public if and when they are caught. I really feel they are themselves as Bonnie and Clyde and will go out in a hail of gunfire.

Welcome! We are excited to hear more of your of thoughts.

However the buyer might have paid her in cold hard cash. If so that gave her almost $100,000 in spending money. She sold her home for less than half of it's worth. There must have been a big incentive to her to undersell..

So she could have gotten that for their escape? Really wondering what their options are with their escape. Was she clever enough to create new identities and get fake id's?

I think cash would be hard to obtain without a lot of red flags, yet this is a very good point. She has also been reported to very thrifty with alot of cash on hand. Can't wait to read how she accessed her assets!

It's the NY Post, so take it with a grain of salt. But according to them, CW was back at the LCDC for several months in 2021.

"In March 2021, Casey was back at Vicky’s jail in Lauderdale County and spent more than four months there as he underwent a mental evaluation and quarantine for COVID-19, Connolly said.

By that August, Casey was transported back to the Donaldson prison where Vicky continued to visit him but on Feb. 25, he returned to Lauderdale County to prepare for his murder trial, which was scheduled for April."

Vicky White had relationship with inmate Casey White for 2 years

This is IMO, but that would be an interesting way for the buyer to launder illegal cash or use money kept in a shoe box.

JMO, MOO and etc.

The money will run out eventually and they will have to come out and face the world and their reality.

Those Alabama accents will make them stand out in the Northern states so that could be tricky if they chose to go north.

I’m still thinking Mexico is a possibility.

MOO

My thoughts too!

Since she seemed to have unrestrained run of the place I have no doubt she could have acquired Covid vax cards (real or fake) if she wanted to They seemingly let her do whatever she wanted. jmo

I got in a conversation with my yard man a couple of weeks ago and he told me his son didn't believe in banks and had $80,000 in cash stashed in his house. I told him he probably shouldn't be telling people that. So yeah, I know some people do this. There is no telling how much cash VW had, but I imagine she became expendable as soon as CW had his hands on it. jmo

“There was communication between the two of them when he was in prison and she was still working here”

A few thoughts:

1) If she was communicating with him under her legal name during the two years he was in prison, it is astounding that there was a complete lack of communication/continuity between the county jail and the Alabama Department of Corrections. Inmate communication is monitored for a reason (especially since a number of prisoners probably have no-contact orders in place and communicating with those individuals would result in further charges), so it’s alarming that no one raised a red flag that he was communicating with a guard at another facility. I would also assume that those logs would have been transferred to the county jail along with CW, so someone at the county jail should have recognized VWs name on those logs.

2) If she was communicating with him under an alias, it would be more difficult for someone to identify an issue, but if she was visiting him in person (as some article seem to be stating) she would’ve had to present a fake ID. This means somehow the prison staff didn’t have the wherewithal to realize they were being duped. Not to mention in person visits normally require you to submit fingerprints to verify the your identity, so either they didn’t take them and/or didn’t run them through the system.

Either way, it’s a terrible look for both the Alabama Department of Corrections and the Lauderdale County Jail.

First time poster. This case interests me as I don't live far from that area. I keep wondering how prepared they had to be due to no gas station sightings. I thought surely by now someone would have spotted them, especially considering his height.

I sincerely don’t understand what would be the point of getting vax cards?

I wonder if they had a place prepared, and simply went to ground some place within the range of one tank of gas.
