If cop pensions in Alabama are the same as LE pensions elsewhere, by retiring when she did with a clean record up to retirement, she may well have locked in her retirement for life--even if she ends up in prison.
I recall the Chicago cop Jon Burge who eventually was convicted of torturing innocent perps into false confessions--often in brutal ways, including guns to the head and electric shocks to genitals, never missed a single one of his $4,000 a month pension checks, even during his 5 years in prison. Collected his pension until he died.
I don’t have a source so MOO but I read that by firing her, it caused her to lose her pension. They did that purposely once they determined she wasn’t a hostage.

MOO VW has fake ID's for them both. Contacts that can provide this will be plentiful in the environment she worked. Mr and Mrs Gray /Green/Brown are a possibility - sticking to another colour as not to mess up. They always say stick as close to true as possible don't they.
From what my daughter says, teenagers very easily purchase fake ids thru apps so she surely handled that beforehand

the way they left the vehicle, just sitting at a stop sign apparently? makes it feel like a decoy move. Cuz if you leave a vehicle in a spot like that you're expecting it to be found at most the same day, which it was. However it got towed and then sat in impound for a week before anyone realized that it was their vehicle.

Possible they arranged for someone else to drive the decoy vehicle north while they went south or east or west. But the attempt to paint it suggests they may have been hoping to be able to use it for a longer period. Dunno when it was painted, if it was done maybe by Vicky the night or days before or after they escaped.

It might have been a useful breadcrumb a week ago if they had figured out it was their vehicle the same day. But a week later it's not so useful. Perhaps useful to the extent they can maybe check traffic cameras on I-40 and I-65 and business cameras in the area for that day and possibly get a read on their next ride.
I think when they saw it was impossible to finish spray painting the car they purchased a different car and then abandoned the Edge.

Many people were puzzled by the retirement thing and her throwing everything away and I was at first admittedly. I am surprised at the throwing away her reputation and financial security but I find it strange you can request retirement one week and then have it set up and all the admin signed off to take effect for a certain date the following week. I'd have thought you'd have to request this months in advance for it all to happen with payroll and national insurance or whatever the US equivalent is, and the pension service and also for your replacement to be appointed etc.

Anyhoo, she was obviously gambling and praying that admin, wise it, was done in time which is wasn't. If she had have retired that day she'd no longer have had access to get CW out of there as would have had to hand in her fire arms, keys and passes.

Just musing. IMO MOO
It could just be as simple as throwing everybody off. Supposedly that day they were going to have a little work party for her. So she chose a day to leave that would have been the last day she would ever choose to leave, plus the doctors appointment. I really like the theory someone put in earlier that she may have had a Plan B to where if they got caught quickly she could have pretended to have been a hostage, because nobody in their right mind would have skipped a retirement party and a doctors appointment voluntarily.

One last thought for today of mine. They surely had to have had help to have had another car right there at the location they left the orange car. They would have had a lot of stuff? Maybe not. Maybe just a small case/holdall each.

I just don't see them walking around looking for another car to steal/hijack. Too risky.

A bit confused on this aspect and can't think my head around it for some reason.

All I can come up with is that they wouldn't want to be taking help as if compromises them but that she put another car on that road ready before hand so purchased two cars. One orange that was cheap as chips as rubbish colour and damaged and one that was more conventional in colour and reliable etc.

Yes, this is correct. From firsthand experience, those sites operate on anonymity––many only take Bitcoin or another form of untraceable cryptocurrency as payment, and if she had them sent to a PO box rather than her real address, there would be no way of tracing them.

Yes I read that as well the day they fired Vicky.

I think these are good for flashing to a hotel employee or, if you’re a teen, getting into an over 21 club. They wouldn’t make it through any airport or checkpoint where they used government scanners.

Same!!!!!! Not surprised but I had no idea it was so easy teenagers could do it. Geez.

Maybe! I bet there are hotels that don’t ask questions when ya got cold hard cash too.;)
I know this to be true. Hotels will accept cash. After Hurricane Katrina, a lot of cell phone towers and internet services were all down. We had to use cash at the hotel we evacuated to. No-tell Motels could and would definitely take cash.

I think the easiest way to come by an ID might be to steal it from unsuspecting family or friends. A lot of people don’t even use their ID regularly and may not notice it’s gone for a while. And even then, if mine was gone, I’d probably assume I’d left it on the counter at a store or on the table at a restaurant and just apply for a new one.

Vicky White stayed in the Quality Inn for two days before her disappearance.

True, except then it’s a traceable ID. A totally new and random one would be impossible to track.

Here is a quote from the above link:

(((((((((According to Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton, Vicky and Casey had been communicating since at least 2020. Inmates at the Lauderdale County Detention Center have reported that Casey White often received benefits and privileges that other inmates were denied.

“I never knew her to have favorites,” Sledge stated. “I just knew that if an inmate was in need and they didn’t have anybody to help them that she would use the resources that she had and reach out and try to get help for them.”

“I don’t know what the level of manipulation that he had over her was,” Sledge concluded
.))))))))))

When speaking of Vicki White, I see a very different person than most people see. Help them with what? They have an attorney, why did Vicki White want to be known as a person that reaches out to inmates?

I'm all for humane treatment for all persons. But this is way beyond how we treat other people. Vicki White broke a prisoner out of jail, she made fire arms available to a felon, she abused her authority, she put the public at risk. I see her as sneaky and calculating. My opinion.

Also can one imagine how a lawyer would have a field day in court? They would use the video we all have seen and claim CW never broke out, CW was following a CO's direction. He was hand cuffed, the CO put him in a police vehicle. If not for her actions, CW would still be in jail. IMO Should any LE officer be harmed during this ordeal, Vicki White needs to examine what part she played in the safety of the public and LE.

Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton made that claim that firing her invalidated her pension. I'm not sure I'm buying it. Partly because Sheriff Rick often says things that turn out not to be true.

Alabama police union contracts might be slightly different than Illinois but I doubt they are substantially different. Very difficult to take away a cop's pension. They have all sorts of arbitration and appeal rights that eventually find their way into court where judges often reinstate the pensions of terminated cops. Dubious that the Sheriff himself can take away an individual officer's pension like that. But maybe it is that different in Alabama.
I think the idea is that public employees/police officers have a property interest in their pensions and the government can't deprive you of a property interest without due process of law.

Yeah. I’m leaving the spray paint alone for a while. Unless we find out more, we’re just throwing guesses at the wall.

The car was bought by one of two aliases used by Vicky White, April Davis and Renee Marie Maxwell.

My daughter says teens today buy fake ids very easily thru apps for around 100$

For sure. Definitely agree a new fake ID would be better for local scenarios where hotel and campground staff aren’t trained to look for fakes. If you’re at any government checkpoint with scanners, then a stolen one would get ya farther because it would have the right security features (reflective inks, embedded symbols that respond to light etc.)

I think she needed to be needed. With her ex. With prisoners. With CW. It’s where she drew her worth in my opinion.

Yep. Very familiar with the chop sites that sell fake IDs. They aren’t government quality so they’d get ya where ya needed to go with random locals. But ya don’t want to use them at an airport or anywhere government employees are trained to look for security features.
