World News Tonight is saying that VW is still alive

Both were injured. his not serious. Hers is but Sherriff doesn't know the extent of her injuries. I hope she doesnt die.

Me, too. I hope she survives. Keeping her and her mother in my prayers.

I'm so glad they were caught, alive, and didn't take anyone else with them. Moderators, could you add a "Taken Into Custody" tag, or something similar?

That sheriff is an absolute mess, and that presser was ridiculous.

If it’s true VW shot herself in the head? If she lives she may never be right again
She probably won’t live MOO. I believe they just took her to the hospital to get her off the scene while they informed family and processed the scene.

Can you really turn yourself in after you're in a crash after a pursuit and you're shot? That's like saying I quit after you get fired.
I suppose it's better than if he tried to run or worse...tried for a shoot out.

So they were stealing cars and living in a motel/hotel, and that she made a really stupid purchase as a getaway vehicle.

That really does not sound like the meticulous planning we were expecting from her.

The only real surprise is that they were in Evansville and <modsnip> and they were washing the stolen truck.
I doubt they were washing the truck. I didn’t notice any water in the pictures of the truck at the car wash. The car wash is just a good place to hijack a car from a vehicle owner distracted while cleaning their car.

I guess maybe CW should've gone quietly back to prison, VW should've quietly retired, and then she could've spent her retirement years visiting him quietly at the prison...

This was never going to end well.

yeah. Sure glad there wasnt a shootout. That would have been bad.

That car looked badly mangled, or are my eyes deceiving me?
There's extensive damage to the driver's door. And some damage to the US Marshall's pickup trucks on their front passenger bumpers. I'm thinking it was a forced crash to end the chase.

It will be interesting in the analysis afterward if they had multiple stolen vehicles at the same time.

I think we can all agree on that!

I still don't think it's out of the question that she shot herself. I hope she makes a full recovery. However, if it is true she shot herself in the head...it's not looking good.

I didn't hear them say where she was shot on the news. Just that she was in very serious condition.

I believe you are right. I was listening to scanner

I so agree. This to me is the amazing part, that washing the car was deemed important enough to emerge from hiding....both of them.

A well-planned escape with not much thought in the end.

Or was it the motel owner who noticed them?

Still stupid of them to go to the car wash together. Either leave the car dirty or hand wash it yourselves.

She COULD HAVE and SHOULD HAVE retired and lived on the beach. I have no sympathy for her, though. She's not a teenager. And prison was her field---no excuse not to know that things would shake out this way.

IMO

ABCLIVE on Hulu has the sheriff and he is saying VW was driving. CW turned himself in, VW shot herself. A call with a tip came in and they followed up immediately. He cannot say what VW injuries are...just that she is at the hospital. It was a Ford F150 that they wrecked. LE spotted them at a local hotel and they ran when they saw LE. Then the chase started.

CW will never see the light of day, per sheriff. They will both be extradited. But they will have to be arraigned there. The judge will be ready 24/7 to arraign immediately.

edit: Sheriff is now saying he doesn't know if CW injuries are from a gun shot or wreck. He can confirm that no LE shot them.

Lol. So not the black pickup the sheriff in Alabama cited. He apparently also said Casey was driving, which we learned was false.

He sure was in a hurry to call that presser, and get the jump on Illinois.

BBM...Did you notice how long it took the news channel to leave him when LE in Evansville started talking. I blinked and he was gone. Guess he is well into de-stressing by now. I did notice he said CW will never see the light of day again.I took that to mean they aren't gonna send him back to his jail JMO

Ha! Well who wants second hand information when you can get it from those who were, you know, actually involved in the apprehension?
