I read a few pages back that VW bought all three get away vehicles, is that true? I'm so confused by this. If she owned the F150 and it wasn't a stolen truck why did they dump it in that bizarre way last Tuesday and drive away in their third vehicle? I really have more questions today than I did yesterday. Why stay in Evansville for that long when you literally were a week ahead of LE. It's like they wanted to get caught. You know they had access to TV and internet so they were up to date on the news. For this to have started out with what seemed a well orchistrated plan it sure ended with pfft. Don't get me wrong I'm thankful they were caught and it's over!

In an Anderson Cooper interview, a marshall said that they bought all three vehicles. Frankly, I won’t believe it until I see it in print from reputable sources, complete with a description of how the sales happened.

I agree that it makes no sense at all. And there he was—parading in front of the car wash camera for about five minutes?!? Why?

I am assuming that any of her personal effects will be returned to her mother including any money that she had once the investigation is complete?

I think they will be returned to her legal next-of-kin.

I think CW is angling for a chance at the cash he knows is left, claiming they were married.

I don't think it will stand up in court.

It's gonna take a while for her estate to go through probate, that's for sure

Mr. Stinson, the owner of the carwash saw a gunlock in truck.
I cannot believe Law Enforcement did not take him serious.

From News Nation Bainfield (this is a different video, not the one with Brian)

Mr. Stinson interview

Can someone explain what a gunlock is in a vehicle? How it works, and how it might be significant in terms of VW's last moments and shooting herself, if that is what actually happened.

And wouldn't they have taken it with them to place in the next car, the Cadillac, or else they would have had to go somewhere to buy another one, I assume.

I would hope so. She obtained the money legally so I would think it would be given to her mom. Maybe one of the WS attorneys can weigh in.

IMO the stress on VW influenced the poor decisions that were made after their escape. It's one thing to plan and make decisions in a controlled environment, but once the pressure was on to make decisions on the fly it proved to be too much.

We were so sure that this was well planned and that they would be off the grid and well hidden for a good period of time.

How wrong were we??? Lol

It seems that they may have had a bit of a plan but that unravelled quickly.

Buying 3 vehicles and then leaving them in conspicuous places is a head scratcher for sure.

Evansville, Indiana. Huh. Why there? Why a motel? Why stay there and not keep moving? They could have been far away by now. They had the means but I guess no real plan unless someone decided to change the plan.

MOO
I believe they got caught up in the honeymooning.

I hope LE recovers the cache of weapons so that it doesn't land in the hands of other criminals.

Just speculating re: the home purchase. Sometimes exact amounts are not stated in contracts. When I worked with oil and gas leases, they rarely stated the true amount paid by the oil company (leaseholder) in the lease. It was normally a nominal $1,000 - I believe to protect the privacy of interest holders in a public document. I don't know all the reasons why that is legal or industry practice but I think "consideration" as it is called is different from "value".

As I say, just speculation.
Yes, the deed documents that the title company filed with my county says "$10" I was floored when I saw it. It is a very common thing. There is also the possibility that she purchased only land also.

So the Anderson Cooper CNN interview, U.S. Marshall Martin Keely claims that Vicky had somewhere between 60,000
and 90,000 on her person. He also stated that she withdrew money from various bank accounts. It is not adding up that that he thinks it is between 60 and 90 thousand. Yes, I realize that she stayed in hotels, ate, purchased vehicles and whatever else.
But Vicky's Mother-In-Law said that Vicki was frugal and saved a substantial amount of money.

So my opinion is she would have had a lot more than that.

She could have squirreled away a large amount of cash in her freezer instead of putting it ALL in the bank knowing she was planning the escape for who knows how long.

I still want to know how she managed to purchase her home in 2014 for $1000.

Just thinking out loud… it doesn’t seem like Vicky was online a whole lot. No social media to speak of. Store purchases rather than Amazon shopping. Maybe she genuinely didn’t think of reserving on VRBO or AirBNB or understand how it worked. Maybe hotels were all she knew. Did she even go on vacations? Maybe the hotel in Evansville was the first one that was willing to accept cash so they decided to stay put for awhile….? Just trying to think about a woman who lived in a small Alabama town and grew up there all her life and didn’t have much family. Maybe didn’t travel much. I guess it might be difficult to plan a decent escape if you have limited traveling and online reservation experience. MOO

BTW how and when did she buy her home for $1000?????
I thought it had been reported that VW had family in Evansville. Maybe that was their end goal location, or nearby, if they could find a quiet place to hunker down. Either for the long term or until the publicity faded.

As for buying the home for $1000, one possibility is that this was the home she shared with her ex, where he lived until his death, and they quit-claimed it to her in 2014 so it would be in her name only.

What amazes me is that there was all that cash taken out, and all the expert planning for the day of the escape, which went off without a hitch — and then they wind up stealing a car, staying at a motel in Indiana, going to the car wash. What exactly was the plan?

It sounds like they didn't steal a car, they purchased all three of them, from private sellers, for a total of about $20,000. Someone posted this interview with US Marshall on CNN in interview with Anderson Cooper, above. Seems that the Ford-150 was purchased for about $6,000 from someone who was selling it privately. I guess you could go to Craigslist in your community and pick out a vehicle for sale, or something like that. Maybe just sitting at the shopping center parking lot with a For Sale sign in the window, and you call them up and make a purchase.

The US Marshall interviewed on CNN by Anderson Cooper (interview posted above this morning), said that he was surprised also that they seemed to have a well-planned escape plan, but no destination.

I would hope so but might be called evidence? Since CW is a lifer and only VW died by her own hand? Will there be a trial of any kind? Or just add to his sentence already?
IMO, there will be a trial.

I know you might be talking about money in her accounts here but it reminded me about the tens of thousands that she withdrew. If that was found on her person or in the car would that be seized because of civil forfeiture? I would doubt it would just be given back.
I am talking about the funds she had on the run.
I think CW is angling for a chance at the cash he knows is left, claiming they were married.

I don't think it will stand up in court.

It's gonna take a while for her estate to go through probate, that's for sure
Of course he may have had some of her money on his person too, so there's that. I really doubt they were married.

Maybe they took chances like driving past the police station for thrills. Thought they were smarter than LE! JMOO

You know this may be very close to their reality. All they had in common was a prison environment and fantasy. This could have been like the little blue pill to them. JMO

I'm sure VW shot herself. What reason would CW have to shoot her at that point? It makes sense to me that if he wanted to kill her, he would have done so long before those final minutes.

I hate that VW took her own life, but I'm happy that this didn't turn out to be the murderous rampage some of us had feared.

I really hope that Indiana doesn't file charges, seems like a waste of taxpayer dollars. He isn't going to get out of anytime soon. I'm pretty sure you were talking about in AL.

What a mess. And in the audio does it say he still has finger on the trigger?? I'm going to listen again.

I understand how many things could be misunderstood during a chase and immediately afterwards. Even if they had her on a 911 call she was probably scattered or even hysterical. I doubt that what she said was easy to understand during the call — perhaps they will release the actual call to the public. If they have I haven’t heard it.

It’s odd that she held down a job with the performance of being promoted, to now this? I’m wondering if she has had any medical mind altering events…stroke, aneurism, etc to cause this extreme lapse of judgement? The radical decision doesn’t make sense.
She took care of her husband till he died not too long ago. People need love to be touched both of these sad characters were starved for love!

Wonder if they realized they screwed up at the car wash and decided to lay low and hide in plain site? Seems like after the escape which was well thought out they were just winging it.
