If CW wanted a shoot out with LE there would have been one. jmo
CW was suppose to say that the wrecked car in the ditch stopped his plan of a shoot out. Car on its side

You have to remember that probably 50% of the population does not follow the news. I mentioned this story to a co-worker this morning and she had no clue what I was talking about.

definitely the case in my world, as well. I do talk about Websleuths often with my buds... lol.... but not a one of them has had the same interest as me. They tease me! But I always claim I learn so much!!! Which I do. I was rather shocked, however, that most of my friends/relatives were unaware of the Alabama case. I suspect they might know now though!

If he was planning a shootout with police, why didn’t he shoot? It sounds like he willingly surrendered immediately after the crash. Maybe he was a little freaked out by her shooting herself?

CW said his shoot-out plans were foiled by the culvert and the crash.

I think it was 6 hours from when they exited the jail to when ol' Sheriff Singleton finally realized he was missing an inmate and deputy and he raised the alarm. So likely at the time they made the truck purchase no one was even looking for them.
Why didn't the F150 seller notify LE after it was broadcast that VW and CW were fugitives?

Sheriff said that the car being turned over due to maneuvering by LE at the crash could have thwarted their plan for a shoot out.

I wasn’t terribly surprised when the sheriff stated that CW had not shown remorse over the death of VW. He also clarified that they were not married.

No drugs

When CW is extradited back to Alabama and taken back to prison I'm curious if he will be praised by other inmates.

It just blows my mind that the escape was planned so perfect but no plan after that to get to a destination or even manage the money to make it last awhile. They wouldn't have made it too long anyway as fast as they were blowing money.

The sheriff said in this latest press conference that the vehicle rolling on it's side disrupted CW's plans for a shootout.

I have been in a rollover crash. Trust me when I say, as soon as the vehicle comes to a stop, it takes a few moments to get your bearings, especially when you are on your side or upside down. He had LE all over him. He didn't have time to get his bearings and react. JMO

They had no plans after Evansville. Day by day. No contacts there either.

Great catches everyone! I watched but appreciate the details shared here.

Person may not even know who they sold it to if they don't watch the news.

NO, not the guy in the pink shirt. That is CW. I am referring to the guy who ran the car wash and turned in the info that most likely. He has no tats and gang affiliations, and should get a large portion, if not all of the reward money. JMO

One of the LE individuals at the press conference made the statement that the calls regarding the car abandoned at the car wash, were NOT about the Alabama couple, just the abandonment. Even James, when interviewed by Brian Enten, indicated he "did not want to call 911", and just called the police office". Think about that.... IF there was a strong reason to assume it was them, who WOUNDN"T call 911???

I personally believe we do have a case of James getting his "15 minutes of fame" handed to him by Brian. If Brian had not spotlighted him, I'm not sure that he would have actually been given reward money....

However, I still think there will be partial reward given to him, because of the publicity, his general involvement, and the subsequent release of the surveilance videos. (But we have to remember, he only reviewed those tapes YESTERDAY).

Which car? The Cadillac?
No. The Cadillac was one she stole while he was waiting inside the car wash bay in Illinois with the truck. The truck has Alabama plates; it's the vehicle they stole to replace the orange one.
