It just blows my mind that the escape was planned so perfect but no plan after that to get to a destination or even manage the money to make it last awhile. They wouldn't have made it too long anyway as fast as they were blowing money.
I now see that they never planned on having a life together. The plan was to escape, be on the run for a few days, then go out in a blaze of glory.

I think he is grieving, too, like many others who have worked with VW for so many years. There would be shock and grief and coming to terms with the betrayal, and now grief for her death, complicated by the betrayal. It will take time.

He kept saying yesterday that "you never really know anyone." He will have to work this through and hopefully come to terms with this and hopefully redeem his positive memories and experiences of VW, as those were real and he did know her then.
Sundog, from seeing your posts over time, it's obvious that you are a kind person and you give everyone the benefit of a doubt.

I personally have no patience with the sheriff when his comments prove hurtful to Vicky's mom, brothers, nephew and friends. He is supposed to be a professional and his grief does not trump the hurt that Vicky's family is feeling. He needs to dig deep and govern his comments to professional statements that can be backed up by proof which is not available yet. MOO

Was she driving with a loaded weapon in one hand?

From what I’ve read, after they saw Casey on the car wash surveillance, they then saw Vicky coming out of the motel with a wig on. She got in the car with CW and the police chase ensued.
How would they see her coming out of the motel with a wig, if they didn't know what motel they were in? Were they casing all the motels? All they had to go by, was the report of the truck at the car wash. But then, didn't the car wash owner also have on surveillance, the Cadillac picking up CW? So they also knew to look for a Cadillac. They must have searched the motels in town, and found them that way?

I'm kind of thinking she was trying to get them to call off the chase by threatening suicide, but of course they wouldn't do that. It will be interesting to hear the call if released. Moo.
I’m thinking along similar lines

Just goes to show, it does pay to do your civic duty. Some of the time, at least. <modsnip> I hope he doesn't get robbed or something, due to the reward money. He seems to know how to take care of himself, though. He's alert, we know that much.

<modsnip: Quoted post was modsnipped> Seemed like an outstanding citizen and responsible business owner to me, and grandfather taking his granddaughter to school, etc.

I am not sticking up for him. However IMHO it definitely seems like they loved each other, however warped. I actually personally cannot see any evidence yet that they callously used one another, or that Casey only used her to get out of jail, at least not with the evidence thus far.
Exactly— each needed love and got it from each other.

I don't think they were ever in Illinois.
The truck was purchased and not stolen per the presser today. The sheriff said he was not sure how they got the cadillac.
They were in Indiana not Illinois. Evansville Indiana.

Can someone fill in a blank for me? How did the US Marshall’s know which motel they were in? I must have missed this detail. TIA
I haven't heard. Either a citizen tip or they spotted the Cadillac parked there. JMO.

This may be frowned upon, but the saddest part of this whole thing to me, is hearing in the press conference that he had no remorse for her death.
Well, he didn’t do it. And knew she wanted it and had planned on it from the beginning. He probably is grieving deeply but keeping that private. MOO

Maybe. If true she was foolish to think that would work. LE stayed on them and wrecked them out. JMO.

I agree, it wouldn't work, but perhaps it was an effort to try to prevent a shoot-out that was CW's wish, not hers in the end, caring about both CW and LE. That wouldn't surprise me as an instinct toward LE that she would have in a moment like this.

CW does seem like an unlikely candidate to be a hitman. Not so much he wouldn't kill for money, but he stands out and if spotted near the crime scene would be easy to describe. Plus would you want that monster having something like you paid him to kill someone to hold over you and possibly extort you for more money or you're next.
my thoughts early on as well. He is too erratic.

Seems like they wanted an adventure not a live long commitment.

IIRC the carwash manager saw what kind of vehicle they left the carwash in, and told LE, who were then on lookout for it.

I edited my post because someone else said that he showed bo remorse over her death? Now I’m confused lol. His initial words don’t match “no remorse” but I dunno.

<modsnip> I agree, he totally has his act together on many fronts. I'm glad the news reporter latched onto him, to make sure he gets the reward, or part of it.

Sherriff Wedding said that during the PC.

I'm sure VW shot herself. What reason would CW have to shoot her at that point? It makes sense to me that if he wanted to kill her, he would have done so long before those final minutes.

I hate that VW took her own life, but I'm happy that this didn't turn out to be the murderous rampage some of us had feared.
I was thinking if he shot her, it would be so she couldn't talk to the police...and then it would be his side of things that they heard, only.

Is it possible that VW was so sympathetic to the criminals that she began hating LE including herself and wanted sort of a suicidal revenge????
