Am I the only one who thinks CW shot VW after hearing the audio? MO
It sounds a bit like that from the audio, I agree. But she had a death grip on the gun, she definitely pulled the trigger purposely, imo.

AUDIO: Jailer Vicky White called 911 before crash, capture in Indiana. In the first video., unless I missed it before is of Casey being led away. You can clearly hear him asking please take care of my wife (paraphase) I don't believe that I had seen this bodycam video before.

!!!!
From your link:
‘As police were chasing them, in what would be their final moments of freedom, Vicky White called 911 and told dispatchers to call off the chase.’

ETA: ugh—but they don’t specifically prove that in the story.

In the aftermath of her death, Singleton said he and his staff “have experienced a full range of emotions. Concern for her to anger at her to just in total shock now that’s she taken her life. There’s some grief. She was part of our family.”

“I don’t know why she took that action...I didn’t know if we would get them dead or alive,” he said. He thought Casey White might “go out in a blaze of glory.”

Singleton said he has also spoken to White’s mother since news of her death spread on Monday

“She’s obviously distraught. They loved her daughter and this was a side of their daughter they didn’t know,” he said.

Singleton said Vicky White hid this part of herself by “taking advantage of her position and plus part of her personality is she’s just a so very private person. No social life I know of, very seldom went on vacations, just a workaholic. This job was her life basically.”

If CW was driving, I presume neither of them were wearing seatbelts. When the marshalls forced the Cadillac in the ditch, all CW's 300 pounds would have fallen on VW in the passenger seat. If she was hold a gun when that happened with her finger on the trigger it's possible that CW's weight falling on her could have made the gun go off. If that happened, she didn't commit suicide and he didn't kill her. It doesn't matter though, since she's still dead and the county isn't charging him. He'll die in prison.

Is there any video where you can hear the gun going off giving an indication when she was actually shot?
I think something similar ie. if she was holding the gun and the vehicle was rammed into by LE, she accidentally fell forward or whatever and the gun went off. I don‘t think LE would like to be blamed indirectly for her death.

Or, the theory you suggested that CW landed on her somehow and caused the gun to discharge. From the conversation prior on the 911 call, VW didn’t seem suicidal but was worried about the situation and air bags releasing. Additionally, could the air bags have hit her in a way that caused the gun to fire?

However, CW stated to LE, as previously cited on here, that it was always VW’s plan to shoot herself if it appeared she would be captured. I guess we will really never know.

So she wasn’t a good guard after all, just no one noticed

It’s concerning that the staff doesn’t review in house video often enough. Alot of businesses don’t but in this business it’s essential.

Yes it has to have an active subscription. But many dealerships (not sure how/where the Cadillac was purchased) will set up a free trial of 3-6 months. MOO
Also, when the cell companies eliminated 3G and activated 5G, some cars lost their service.
Our car is less than four years old and we lost a number of features this year when 3G ended.

Hmmm is it legal to do this?
When she used an alias to purchase the 2007 Ford Edge (Orange SUV), it became a crime. She was charged with two more counts prior to her death:

5/9/22

New charges have been filed against former Alabama jailer Vicky White, who has been on the run for 10 days with escaped capital murder suspect Casey Cole White.

The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office on Monday said the 56-year-old second-in-charge at the north Lauderdale County jail is now charged with second-degree forgery and identity theft.

The charges stem from her allegedly using an alias to buy a 2007 Ford Edge, which was used in the couple’s April 29 getaway.

She was previously charged with permitting/aiding in an escape, which is also a felony.

Here’s more from his lawyer.
And much more about his crimes. Chilling details imo

Thanks again. Agree he definitely has had a violent criminal past and is rightfully being held accountable.
I don't have any misconceptions about his behavior. He belongs behind bars the rest of his life. He presents a danger to society, esp when off his medication. And there are no guarantees even in the unlikely event he ever were to get out, that he would take it.
As his ex lawyer stated CW functions best in structure and inside the confines of jail with meds. Either Vicky White did not understand the severity of his mental health or she chose to ignore it as even on medication he was never going to function well outside of a facility.
I am looking forward to learning more about Vicky, as I sense she was the true one controlling things. I think she was the one that had people fooled. Seems she kept people at arm's length. Perhaps her outwardly superficial, pleasant and happy enough exterior along with maybe underlying chronic feelings of emptiness and boredom, got us to where we are today. Just IMO

OnStar needs to be kept current with a paid subscription though, doesn't it? What year was their Cadillac, and would it still have had a free sub attached to it?
I have onstar in my car but no subscription. It will activate if there is an accident/upon impact per the manual.

Why are there still conflicting reports on who was driving?

On another note I think she stopped breathing as she was being removed from the car because her hand looks limp. Also there wasn’t any urgency to get her in an ambulance.

There are conflicting reports on everything it seems. TV stations all talking about the 911 tapes with different versions. This case has a million questions and few answers. jmo

To me the question of her retirement benefits and whether she withdrew money from them before her crime(s) is unsettled.

The sheriff may be right. The sheriff may be wrong.

The date at which one can withdraw from IRAs without penalty is 59.5. Many people retire when years of service make them eligible. But each plan's rules are different.

Her mentality at the time appears to me to have been an "end game" of liquidating whatever she possibly could.

I would be interested in knowing what the facts are regarding her retirement funds. IMO it would help a criminologist better understand her state of mind.

MOO
The ERS rules she was under are 25 years of service or 10 years of service and age 60. It is a defined benefit plan. If she did not meet these requirements, her beneficiary will receive her contributions, plus interest earned and one year of the person’s salary equal to the person’s salary during the last fiscal year.

In the video at the link I posted above, you can see that the police actually opened the sunroof to pull her out. they said something like lets see if it will open, it's opening
I edited my post to correct it. Thanks!

Just catching up here…Are we positive Vicki shot herself and that Casey didn’t shoot her? Has that been confirmed by LE?

I agree this would never of happened if she hadn’t helped plan, sell her house and have test runs.

She was very close to death when the officer pulled her out of the car. I think she likely stopped normal breathing almost immediately.

While still trapped in the car the officer said her breathing was ‘agonal’ which isn’t breathing as we know it. It’s a sign a person is near death. The body is gasping because the brain doesn’t have enough oxygen.

It seems work was her life and caregiving. She may have created a fantasy world to escape. A fantasy that brought lots of love and excitement. Unfortunately CW was probably the one she chose. Maybe he was the one that paid attention to her. I wonder if anytime during this escape and life on the run he disappointed her and she realized this wasn't as she had painted in her mind? Over time I think her bubble would have busted. jmo.

Yes, confirmed by the Coroner.
