Does anyone think that CW wanted to get caught? He was suddenly thrust back into real life and on the run. Going from shackled and held in a cell to freedom and expectations of making decisions and executing their plan. I think he was overwhelmed and maybe staying holed up in the motel room was his attempt at adjusting. Parading in front of the cameras at the car wash exposing his tats makes me think he was ready for it to be over. Dumping that truck there was probably the dumbest move those two made. JMO

That had occurred to me, yes.
Either that, or he (and Vicky) assumed they were far enough from Alabama for people to not be up on the case, and that there likely weren’t any cctv cameras in a cheaper area??

I also don't hear VW talking to dispatch at all, she seems (to me at least) to be speaking directly to CW.
RSBM

I agree. She is talking to CW.

For the past couple of pages, I have seen references to an alleged audio that has VW pleading with a dispatcher to "help me" and to "call off the chase". I have heard, and listened closely, to every audio that has been released, and I have heard nothing at all, nada, that says anything that I could even remotely twist into that. I have heard nothing that makes me think VW was ever communicating with anyone other than CW. It seems that most others here have not heard it either, so I am asking that anyone who has a link to such an audio, to please post it here, along with your time marking of those alleged statements, so that we may all decide for ourselves what was said. Also, "she has her finger on the trigger" was clearly said by one of the LEO's or first responders on the scene, and not by CW. TIA JMO

Its very sad and chilling to hear her say that "Help me!" and "Stop the chase." IMO that's why she called 9-11 to stop the chase. That's why CW was forced to say "she has her finger on the trigger" to dispatch. Unfortuntely it was a futile attemp on Vicky and Casey's part to stop the chase as it was too late already in those few minutes. The dynamics evolved rapidly and there was no way to get out of this horrible situation.

If you have time, and only if you have the time. Could you direct me to where in the tape VW says "help me", and "stop the chase". Also, where CW says "she has her finger on the trigger" to dispatch? At times I can hear and make it out better if I know where in the tape these are being said. Thanks so much.

If, in fact they had all the money she withdrew with them then perhaps the bills were large and they just presented the cash for a payment and said "keep the change". A hundred dollar bill for a $30 dollar dinner. Also, they may have been tipping high for silence. MOO MOO MOO
True, but I would have thought they’d have only take out food delivered or drive through, to avoid being seen, especially with his 6’9 height….

I think we will eventually have an official (or officially approved by LE) transcript of the 911 call. Until then, I think there will continue to be all this confusion and different reporting based on trying to identify the caller(s), speakers, what is being said and who said it, and how the call was made and when.

At 12 seconds in the audio, you can distinctly hear an airbag deploying. At 22 seconds, you can hear another airbag deploying as she is speaking. At 26 seconds, there is another sound that is a bit louder than the previous two, and I cannot decide if that is yet another airbag deploying closer to her phone, or whether that is a gunshot. It doesn't sound loud enough to be a gunshot to me, and you can hear her making gasping noises for a couple seconds after that, but I can't be sure. I am wondering if the gunshot was edited out, as the audio goes silent for a few seconds. LInk is below, what do you think?

It's possible that a very loud noise can be "blown out" of a recording, especially if audio leveling software is involved. It's similar to an overexposed photo, where detail is lost due to too much light in the exposure. IMO and experience.

I think so too, but until then, and regardless, claims such as the ones referencing such comments should be linked here, per TOS. JMO

I agree, but still, claims such as the ones referencing such comments should be linked here, per TOS. JMO

I agree, links to claims need to be provided.

CNN is saying they haven't heard on any of the audio VW saying she had her finger on the trigger and it's not clear from the audio if she shot herself intentionally or accidentally:

JMO...but this is where I am re: the audio of the 911 call. I don't think she is requesting the chase be called off; she should know, as a LEO herself, that civilian pleas for such actions would likely fall on deaf ears in such a situation. She had to have been perfectly aware at that instant why the Cadillac was being chased in the first place.

I interpret her reference to the motel as "let's get out and run" and "go back to the motel". Interspersed with yelps and screams with airbags bursting as the last seconds of her conscious life tick away.

All JMO.

Only a mod can actually delete a post. After posting something, you have a time frame of one hour in which you may use the 'edit' button to erase your comments, and replace them with a 'DBM', 'deleted by me', but you cannot actually totally delete it. And after one hour, you can't do that. You can self report the post, and ask the mod to delete it, in which case, they will edit the posts of anyone who shared or replied to it. HTH

Yes, it sounded like a scream. Even though this is the second time I'm listening to this audio I didn't hear VW say "Help me" to the dispatcher. I was surprised I heard that today. I guess the first time I was actually shocked to hear the recording as many people on this thread I'm sure are. Also VW said either after or before asking for help she implored the dispatcher to have the chase stopped. Unfortunately it was a very volatile situation and LE also had to be protected as well. So it was an extremely difficult situation whereby LE couldn't call off the chase either. They would be dammed if they did and be dammed if they didn't. IMO The Marshal's Service did the best they could under a very trying circumstance. Sadly I completely understand that VW was trying to get the chase to stop but by the time VW expressed this it was too late even though it was just minutes after they left the hotel. In a split second the dynamic of the chase changed into the crash. It took less than a minute to deploy the spike belt. So, sadly her need to have the chase stopped was to late by the time she verbalized it.
She said "help me"?? Omg, that's sad..

That alleged comment has not been verified, or even offered up for verification, by way of any link here. It is questionable whether or not it was made, and if so, to whom, or whether it was misunderstood by someone.

The idea that they were staying in a bedbug ridden room in a crappy motel (read the reviews of it) because CW found it so comfortable & wonderful is laughable.
IMO, we have to remember that he'd spent a long time prior to the escape in prisons and jails. Maybe an actual bed, an actual room, a TV not shared in some inmate recreation room, eating what he wanted when he wanted it, no all night shouting from prisoners nearby, whatever---maybe it felt luxurious.

They certainly had the money to stay in a cleaner and much nicer place, but that would likely be more high profile, more subject to careful check on who they were, more scrutiny all around.

Someone pages or threads ago also alluded to the homeless guy who did the check-in as a culpable third party who got his punishment by "having" to stay in this hotel for five extra days after CW and VW went on their last ride.

I think it's important that we don't put our own perspective of comfort on people who slept on the streets or in a jail cell prior to this (admittedly shabby) motel.

Unless Vicky wrote a journal, or left letters for her family or something, the only explanation we will ever get is from a deranged, violent criminal whose self-interest will be paramount in his version of the story.

All that's left is the unanswerable, and the grief I feel for her sorrowing, hurt and bewildered family.

JMO
