I’m not trying to be morbid. I am interested to know if and when the autopsy report of VW will be released. My reason for this is in a past post of mine I said that it was said on the news she shot herself in the forehead. I have tried but cannot find that article. The autopsy report will state locations on her head of the entry wound and exit wound. I believe the entry wound will show if she shot herself on purpose or accidently.

I am not sure how CW can be charged with a first degree escape charge when in fact he was actually released by a senior officer ie the Assistant Director of the detention centre.o_O

I have mixed emotions about this.

If it alleviated the pain of any mother, I can understand that the compassion was helpful. I also am glad for whatever condolences being offered now that bring comfort to Vicky's family.

However, while I worked in a completely different profession, I learned the hard way that there have to be boundaries between the professional and the "clientele."

I'm retired now, but as a new teacher in NYC, I was a young mother and was very empathetic with my students. I taught 13 and 14- year old kids, and my daughter was just a few years younger. I understood that age group, was very compassionate, listened to their tales of woe, and did hug the kids that ran to me for that.

I was told by other teachers that I should NOT hug the kids. At all. Male or female. That people would misinterpret, or a kid would get too attached to me, and so on, but I felt I was giving them what they needed beyond the academic aspect (which is, of course, the actual job).

I withdrew from ever letting a boy hug me (I'm a female) but did at times hug the girls who were having family problems and were in despair. Just to be compassionate and let them know they weren't alone and had an adult who cared. In fact, the parents often told me how much the kids loved me and talked about me at home.

And what happened? Over the years, three different children developed an obsession with me. All girls, all 13 years old. One built a shrine to me, two were writing me love letters, all kept asking me to adopt them, all had dreams about me.

I did finally learn that the other teachers were right. There's a way to show compassion and care without getting too close. I had overstepped the boundaries and what was, to me, totally unforeseen did in fact develop.

That's the prism through which I see Vicky. Obviously I didn't commit any crimes but I realized that the students were idealizing me in a way that was very unhealthy. I wish, too late, that she had withdrawn into a professional demeanor with ALL the prisoners. It may have prevented the blossoming of her relationship with Casey.

Jmo and experience. Life lesson learned.
My thoughts too. She had a big heart and he knew exactly how to play her.
Thanks for relaying this. Vicky seems to have been a person with a lot of empathy, and from the sound of this statement by this inmate’s mother, it was a lovely thing.

Unfortunately (and I know this from being this type of person myself) it can cause someone to over identify with others, to the point of losing sound judgment. I know from my own past experience (thankfully I never reached the point of doing anything illegal for an underdog man, just foolish).
Yep. While having a big heart can be a good thing it also can get you in alot of trouble with the wrong people. An some people will absolutely use that to their advantage.

Respectfully, the ME already determined the manner of death as suicide, and not accidental shooting.

The cause of death, COD was a gun shot to the head. The MOD, manner of death, was suicide.

About the money, if she took out 90,000 and she bought one car and they stole the others where is the rest if the money?

I thought it odd that VW told CW in the moments before the crash to get them back to the hotel.

Did she stash some in the room?
Is there any proof she had 90,000 on her person when she fled? It is assumed she did, but in actual fact, did she?

Some hush money as well?

Here’s the best article I’ve seen yet with an interview US Marshal Keely.
Here’s the part about the Ford truck. Guy who sold it said it had no license plates but CW didn’t care. Apparently the plates came off a Dodge as we can hear in the dash cam at the car wash. Luckily the seller had written down the VIN.

The search was on for a hulking fugitive, a jailer and their orange car. But investigators had no idea the duo had already made it out of state and were nearly 200 miles (322 kilometers) away.

Tips flowed in to the Marshals Service and sheriff’s officials but nothing panned out until a tow truck driver from Tennessee called. He had towed the Ford Edge three or four days earlier and it was still in his tow yard, Keely said.

The task force investigators rushed north to Williamson County, Tennessee. They had the right car, but the next question was where were Vicky and Casey?

Authorities scoured rural Tennessee looking for clues and showing photos of Vicky and Casey. They discovered a home with a few cars and trucks for sale on the lawn, Keely said. The homeowner instantly recognized a photo of Casey White and helped authorities piece together what had happened. He told investigators he sold White a Ford F-150 pickup truck for cash. The truck didn’t have license plates, but White didn’t care, the man told authorities.

“He says, ‘Yeah, I sold him a truck,’” Keely said of the homeowner. “And so, we learned that he sold him a truck the same day that they escaped from the Lauderdale County Correctional Facility. And it was just a few hours after they had escaped.”

During the sale, a woman in an orange Ford pulled up and the two drove off trailing one another, the man told authorities. And the homeowner provided one more clue — the pickup truck’s vehicle identification number, or VIN, according to Keely.
There was a vehicle license plate LE found with their cache of belongings.

All accounts she loved her mother very much and had a good relationship with her. It was a simple question. Most people do think about there mother on mothers day and miss them if they cant be with them. Most people that cant be with them pick up the phone and call to tell their mothers they love them. Why would VW be any different? If she had a burner phone I dont think this is out of the realm of possibility. Her father? If this happened in June the same possibility she may have done the same for her dad. jmo.
Here is one example she loved both her parents.
She loved her mom and daddy so much, and I can’t see her just up and leaving,” the 58-year-old said. “It hurts,” she said later, tearing up.
Hi Concernedmother, thank-you for the link, but it is behind a paywall so I cannot read it.

There should be a law here about posting links to paywall articles, I was all ready to read the article and my eyes captured 1 sentence before the paywall pop-up boxed obstructed the article. I do not pay for subscriptions to any news websites.

So my note to self, do not bother clicking on any links posted from the Washington Post.

Thank-you though for posting the sentence from the link that you want us to read.

After his arrest on Monday, Casey told investigators that Vicky White was his "only friend … in the world," according to the Washington Post, which cited the local district attorney.

I do believe this, I see CW as probably not having many friends though out his life. We have read that she was good to prisoners, treated them well. She could have been the first person in his life that showed some respect towards him. I do think that she was vulnerable after her ex passed away and looked ahead and saw herself by herself. Some can be close with their Mother and can seem close. No one wants to say that their Mother gets on their nerves and no Mother wants to talk ill about their daughter.

It’s sad that VW felt compelled to communicate with CW while in prison, it also tells me that she was lonely.

Jmo

When my sister retired my mother gave her the beach condo, taking her off of the house when they passed. After this happened my sister said to me that if mom had not given her the condo she doesn’t know what she would do because she couldn’t live that close to her being retired. She lived about 5 miles from here.

Don’t know if this helps, but when I encounter a paywall I clear or delete history on my browsers ( I use both Chrome and Safari). After that I open the link again with no paywall. Works every time.

Agreed.

He went willingly Is my guess.

Aren't prisoners supposed to obey prison guards though? I'd think for a successful prosecution you'd have to show that he did more than just followed a prison guard but actively plotted escape...I'm sure he did plot but having actual proof of his plotting.

Two observations based on what I hear in the released audio--

I never hear, "we surrender."

Or "Casey, I love you."

Read into it what you will.

He didn't voluntarily turn himself in at any point, though. I don't believe Vicky held him at gunpoint when they interacted with others, such as when buying cars and passing through the hotel. He was separated from her at the car wash. Could've told someone or made a call.

It's moot IMO as I'm sure he was in on the plan.
