39-year-old Chastity Ann Terry, also known as Chasity Galbreath, was last seen on January 9, 2025. She may be in the area of Hamilton, Jasper, Bear Creek, or along the I-22 corridor.

Hamilton police officers and Marion County deputies, along with ALEA's helicopter and two drones, spent the day searching a wooded area off I-22 in Marion County for Chasity.

They searched the area because the man she was last seen with, Charles Williams Jr., ran off the road on the entrance ramp from County Road 45 during a snowstorm early Friday morning.

Noting:
  • Video footage shows Chastity at a Love's Truck Stop in Jasper on January 10 approx 2 a.m.
  • She was with Charles David Williams Jr.
  • Williams is believed to be the driver of the Jeep as he was seen getting out of the vehicle by LE.
  • "Ms. Terry then left with this male ... continued I-22 westbound from that location. We believe she did occupy a vehicle that was in a ditch located on I-22 near Exit 22, which is County Road 45," said Carter.
  • Williams is believed to be the driver of the Jeep as he was seen getting out of the vehicle by LE.
  • Williams was arrested on Jan 12 for conspiracy to commit a controlled substance crime.
  • LE has information that Williams and Terry traveled to the Birmingham area to buy narcotics.
  • At this time, there's no evidence that indicates Terry is injured or deceased.
  • LE doesn't have evidence of foul play or homicide, but they are going to treat it that way.
  • Chastity has three children and two grandchildren.

“We do have information where the two went to the Birmingham area to buy some narcotics,” said Sheriff Kevin Williams, “Fentanyl, I believe it is, on the way back, so I believe she was under the influence of something.”

...the area received a lot of snowfall early Friday.

“We know that he slid off the on ramp in the West Bound Lane here on County Road 45, we don’t know if they were together then or not.”

Family said someone always knew where Terry was, so the fact she hasn’t been seen for several days is out of the norm.

The most recent family gathering happened only a few weeks ago at the very church they held the prayer vigil.

“We had a Christmas party here actually on Christmas Eve,” said Galbreath. “She came and she spent time with her grandkids and got her grandkids stuff and we played games and had fun. We want more of that.”

very sad case :( Drugs have ruined so many lives, either directly through OD or through the association with that culture/lifestyle.

The pair traveled I-22 west back toward Hamilton where, for some reason, they got off the interstate at Exit 22 and the jeep ended up in the ditch on the westbound ramp.

“At that time,” the chief said, “snow and ice had started coming in.”

Carter said witnesses reported seeing Williams get out of the vehicle. He told investigators Terry also exited the vehicle and was last seen on foot.

Chief Carter also released the following statement concerning the search for Terry:

The search for Chasity Ann Terry remains our highest priority. Each day, our officers, investigators, and other local and statewide law enforcement officers, are committed to bringing her home.

Chasity is a member of our community, and we understand the concern and heartache felt by her loved ones. Every resource at our disposal is being utilized, from ground and aerial searches to interviews and investigative work.

I am incredibly thankful for Sheriff Kevin Williams and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office for working together, treating this case with the seriousness and dedication it deserves. My officers and investigators are dedicated to see that Chasity is found. Their willingness to go above and beyond, often sacrificing personal time, speaks volumes about their commitment to this community and their determination to bring Chasity home. Their actions are a true reflection of the heart and soul of this department, and I couldn’t be prouder of their unwavering dedication. We have received assistance from multiple agencies and organizations during this investigation. Together, we will continue to move forward with determination to reunite Chastity with her family.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office tells WBRC that an acquaintance of Chasity Terry, Charles Williams Jr., is being considered a person of interest in her disappearance.

Posey has not given up looking for her.

“Sometimes at night when I can’t sleep, I go and like ride I-22, and I just want to see her walking down the road and then pick her up,” Posey said. “So that’s really what I hope happens.”

During a bond hearing, the state requested that Williams' bond be raised to the maximum amount of $10,000 and that it be a cash bond. His current bond is set at $5,000. The state argued that if Williams is released, he might flee to Mobile County.

As of the latest update, court documents reflecting the outcome of the hearing have not been posted. ...

Multiple agencies returned to County Road 45 and Exit 22 off I-22 for a grid search of the area to find 39-year-old Chastity Terry.

Much of the day was spent searching the east side of County Road 45, including the wooded areas along Exit 22 on I-22.

Marion County Sheriff Kevin Williams said nothing was found on the east side of the road. Search efforts would be moved to the west side of the road next.

Sheriff Williams said Charles Williams is a person of interest in Terry's disappearance and has been since the beginning of the investigation.

Is LE thinking this was a fentanyl OD or a murder?

  • #20
fentanyl produces effects such as: relaxation, euphoria, pain relief, sedation, confusion, drowsiness, dizziness, nausea and vomiting, urinary retention, pupillary constriction, and respiratory depression.

A rise of blood pressure within the brain (intracranial hypertension) and muscle rigidity and spasms have been reported following fentanyl use.

  • 2-3 milligrams of fentanyl can induce respiratory depression, arrest, and possibly death. 2-3 milligrams is approximately 5-7 individual grains of table salt.
  • Signs of fentanyl overdose may include, slow breathing or no breathing, drowsiness, disorientation, sedation, pinpoint pupils, skin rash, or clammy skin. Symptoms usually occur within minutes of exposure or ingestion. Fentanyl overdose lowers the heart rate and depresses the respiratory system.

If OD, the oxygen starvation eventually stops other vital organs like the heart, then the brain. This leads to unconsciousness, coma, and then death. Within 3-5 minutes without oxygen, brain damage starts to occur, soon followed by death. With opioid overdoses, surviving or dying wholly depends on breathing and oxygen.

Out-of-hospital cardiac arrests triggered by opioid overdose are a significant cause of death among adults 25 to 64
