I might be wrong but when I was looking into carjackings in Mobile... the suspect was arrested pretty quick in the case of the woman jumping out of the car... he was also believed to be responsible for another car jacking involving a man that was put into his own trunk. The guy approached both victims on foot. In the case with the male victim he was taken to the atm and forced to withdraw money. So if it was the same suspect in both cases maybe his plan was to take the female to an atm

Question for all our locals. What is over by the Shell Station that someone would want to go to at 11pm at night? Besides an apartment, what is over there? I see a whataburger on Google maps but maybe someone who knows the area can give us some color commentary. If you were a 24 year old, why would you go over there?

The is a shopping center, Costco, and a movie theater if you turn left on Govt. None would be open then though.

I think if you turn right and continue down there may be some hole in the wall bars, but I can't think of anything else that would be open on Tuesday that late.

I am wrong. It is on the other side of 90 diagonally..... In the area, but not across the street....Sorry, folks.

I’m not sure where they’d really be headed. I work not far from there for the last 18 years. the crime in that area has gotten a lot worse here lately. It’s pretty dark on that side of the interstate, minus the WH... I doubt they were going to the WH if they were gonna have dinner at Ollie’s... we have waffle houses literally on every corner. One being almost across the street from Ollie’s and just down the road a bit from Dublin’s... no houses or apartments super close by. Everything is pretty much closed at that hour on weekdays except some gas stations, fast food places and Walmart.

If they were going to go some place more private DNVs apartment is a lot closer than DWs house. I actually looked at a house on the exact road he lives on in the middle of August. It would be further than I’d want to drive if I was just wanting to kill some time waiting on RC to get off.

There are a few late-night food joints in that area. Right there by the intersection of I-65 and Government you've got Waffle House and Steak N Shake. Both open either 24 hrs or very late. Right down the road is Whataburger which is also, I think, 24 hours. There's also a theater in McGowin Park. Nobody would be going there that late on a Tuesday except maybe people picking up employees from work but there could be folks leaving some of the later showings which might be getting out around that time. My husband used to work in that shopping center and he would regularly be leaving work around 11 PM. Down the road just a ways west of the Shell is a bowling alley. Not sure on their hours. Bay Bears Stadium is also in that area, but I just checked their schedule, and they did not have a game that night.

This is what I found to be standard options on the 2014 base model Cruze... it has an emergency trunk release... and it says “tracker System”

Pearl was possibly able to call whoever they called to get the last ping because if DNV financed the vehicle, they had the VIN and technically still own the car.

That’s got me scratching my head...if they were buying some weed or whatever and the dealer wasn’t expecting 2 vehicles... that meet briefly and one pulls out. they could’ve thought it was a set up... they’re paranoid like that it seems. Maybe they decided they were gonna skip Ollie’s and go elsewhere but when DNV started looking for her phone to call RC to tell him is when she realized she didn’t have it and flashed her lights and he pulled into the very first place he could easily get to.

Now the story is MK, DNV, and DW were all at Dublin's and they were all going to Ollie's. DW and MK showed up at Ollie's but DNV didn't? She got lost on her own and ended up at the Shell Station alone?

Or MK, DNV, and DW were all supposed to go to Ollie's but only MK showed up, with DNV and DW missing. Then DW texted MK at 11:37 he is at Dublin's getting DNV's phone and lost her?

Are the screenshots of texts being questioned? I have seen some screenshots posted early on that I don't believe are real. They were supposedly with a detective but I have never seen a detective text with anyone about a case and certainly not using the syntax and grammar of a 12 year old girl.

I am unclear if all were suppose to meet at Dublin after RC got done work. MK, DW and DNV did go to Dublin. RC called DNV at 10:45 when he was done his shift and she did not answer so he headed to Ollies. MK and DW arrived but DNV did not. It has not been stated what time MK or DW arrived. Hopefully RC's friend joins us. I have not received a response, but I messaged her our link and ask her to at least check us out because I think she will find it a worthy forum.

The way I interpreted it, all 3 of the others showed up to Ollie's but DV never made it. Who arrived when wasn't stated. I suppose it's possible DW was the last to show of the 3

I updated the google map for correct address for DW house. Not sure going to DW house made sense with the schedule? Maybe the Shell was the destination for drug meetup? I don't get going for fast food when they will be eating with the rest of the group in the next hour? Ideas?

Personally... I don’t think this is a random stranger act. Because I would hope and think that LE would be putting out warnings and etc. when people were reporting the strange van following women around, it was all over the news... ok now I’m wondering about that being a possibility.

I have 4 daughters. 2 drive. Both have jobs and work late sometimes.... I would like to know if there is some dangerous young woman snatcher on the loose. We have a lot of crime in Mobile but Not like this. Not that I can recall.

Personally I think that if Pearl Motors was really who pinged the GPS then it has to be the GPS system they put on, not OnStar. I cannot imagine they have access to OnStar. Now whether LE has looked into that as well, I assume (hope?!) the answer is yes.

For the record, I don't think her OnStar was activated-- while GM dealers will put it in used cars for a trial period, I highly doubt that this one did. OTOH, you can still press the button for help and may get charged(??? I don't have any knowledge about this except that I have driven a Cruze for like five years so IMO) but you can still access a rep. That being said she likely knew this as she already owned this vehicle so your theory about her pressing the button is plausible.

ETA I just did some reading on this and I think I'm wrong about the button still being active if you don't pay. So I will go back to my original opinion that her OnStar was not activated.

OnStar itself may not have been activated but the GPS transmitter that it uses is still active regardless and can be tracked in the event of an emergency.

Agree. But going with the drug idea did DW head back to Dublin's to look for phone and left DNV to deal with buy? So, is Car 3 drug dealer or opportunistic predator or someone known to DNV that had been following her that evening just waiting for opportunity?
